Oh my God this is the video that saved my life and saved the truck thank you very much you are a godsend I've been spending over months fixing this or trying to fix it figuring out what the hell is going on kept thinking it was the security but no error was it was these two ground wires or I've been spending over months fixing this or trying to fix it figuring out what the hell is going on kept thinking it was the security but nope here it was it was those two ground wires that you showed in your video I thought I cleaned the ground wires but I guess they're grounding something else out underneath on the frame let alone knowing that this is a used truck and whoever had it before had attached stuff to it thank you again❤

@@whspioneer89 yeah man no problem you're welcome you really did help me I was stuck on this truck trying to figure it out thinking it was the security getting new parts and s*** like that and here it was it was those two f****** things I didn't realize you were grounds I thought they were like some sort of relays or something and also I didn't see them until I seen your video so yeah thank you lol spinning like over a month trying to figure this crap out

I am so glad to come across this video saved us money. Have 2010 GMC Canyon that was throwing fault codes and the dash cluster would go blank when driving. Took to a dealership and they said we needed a new EBCM that they don’t make anymore. Options were to live with it or get EBCM reworked. While doing research found this video. After taking the ground off and putting back on it all cleared.
This is genius!! So many videos on this subject but this is the best, simplest, and most effective fix to the ground issues on the 2004-2012 Canyons/Colorados. I will use a different color wire (black) and route it differently, so it's out of sight, but I love your fix! Thanks for sharing!
Just beat the dash with a hammer fist.. My clusters been replaced 3x and it still does it.. I fixed those grounds years ago... When it just turns over and wont start wiggle the cam sensor wiring.. When the heater stops blowing on 4 its the switch plug if it stops on all but 4 its the resistor if it stops all together put switch on 3 and beat area above passenger kick panel with a pipe wrench. 05 w/418k SMJ 23
Thank you so much for this I sanded down to bare metal like you recomended also ran a wire from negative post to connection that fixed my issue with turn signals and center cluster not lighting up at night. Thanks again I know you saved me a boat load of headaches finding a shop and definitely saved me a couple hundred dollars.
I had the same issue but with the ground cluster on the left inner fender. I put a 6 contact bus bar in and sanded all contacts with emory cloth and just a thin coat of die electric grease. Also added a separate ground wire. This is a common and frustrating problem with 1st gen Canyons and Colorados.
Thanks for watching and commenting. That really sucks. It’s taken me some time but I’ve learned to always start with the simple items first. Like grounds. So many electrical problems start with just having a bad or inconsistent ground.
Throwing alot of codes. Mechanic replaced fuel pump module. Headlights start flashing. I replaced the transmittion module. Now the head lights and tail light are out of there mind. Next guess was the BCM. Any suggestion would be great
Ya my left turn signal lights up when i hit the brake. Im also having the issue with the dash not lighting up sometimes at night. I got pulled over last night and the cop said my turn signals in the rear weren't working either. After he helped me field test it, they worked as long as i didnt hit the brakes, but when i hit the brakes the lights seem to dim and flash together. I also have the 07 Colorado.
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Mine first acted up at night as I was going to work. All my dash lights went black. Heater shut off. Luckily engine didn’t die. You might have a grounding problem as well. At least for the tail lights not working all the time.
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Yours could have an iffy ground as well. If it happens again you can try the common grounds on the fenders like I did.
I’m back and had an issue cleaned ground on opposite of battery fender to fix my ac , and now my dash lights and gauges don’t work after a rainy night so I’m gonna have to do more testing on the ground under the seat
Just wondering are you still having issues with your Colorado? I’m having the same issue with my 07 abs, turn singles not working an instrument cluster lights not working all the time.
Hello. Thanks for viewing my video and commenting. The problem I had was poor ground connections. GM used a pair ground blocks were several circuits meet and are grounded to the body of the vehicle. I connected a wire between both ground blocks and the battery ground and it solved my problems
@@yeaboi8563 I have not figured out the abs, I’ve changed the hubs out and abs still not working. The electrical issue I have fixed. There are ground packs on the driver side and passenger side. I the wires were very loose in the ground pack on the passenger side. I just rewired the ground pack all good now.
I did roughly the same thing. I didn’t wire anything new though, just took them off and cleaned them. Now my truck doesn’t start, it buzzes a bit but the key won’t turn the engine over. Not quite sure why
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Start by checking the conditions of your battery and then the grounds. If those are good check the positive connections. Basically start at the beginning of the circuit and move in order of electricity flow.
@@dontwantaname problem is resolved after my local gmc dealer looked at it for 3 months, ended up being the aftermarket stereo the previous owner installed that was somehow messing with the other modules, so no power was going anywhere besides the basic fuel pump and stuff like that
When I turn it off my truck turns on the emergency lights, I have to disconnect the fuses to solve it, but it's annoying, I haven't been able to find the reason for the failure. I changed the emergency light button, and checked fuses, wiring, I have no idea why he does it.
Hello, thanks for viewing my video and.commenting. When my grounds were bad that's what mine would do. I'd start by checking to make sure you have good grounds. Check the battery grounds and also the pair of junctions on the inner fenders under the hood. I had to clean rust off under the junctions on the inner fenders. But I also added grounding wires from both junctions to the battery ground
Nice video. I have a Chevy Colorado 05’ and I’m having issues with the turning lights and brakes, already change bulbs and fuses but nothing works, do you think this may be the problem?
Thanks for watching and commenting. The original ground is still in place. I cleaned the corrosion from the inner fenders and the ground junction so they make better contact. The added wiring is just insurance in case the corrosion comes back or the screw loosens.
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Sorry for not replying sooner. I used size 12. Because that’s what I had. I did switch it out with a black wire same size. Been working over a year with no problems.

I wired it all up and mine still isn't working, thinking I need to take all the wires out of the actual ground terminals.

This maybe a pass lock issue. The pass lock will let let the truck crank put not turn on.
