Harder to control and tie down a woman with no children. That's why they are threatened.
True!! Been with my partner 15 years, not married (my choice) and no kids (my choice also). My partner treats me with respect and knows that I'm not tied down to him so can exit the relationship at any point. My sister on the other hand (married with two kids) is stuck in a marriage with a man who has become a verbally abusive absent father who spends all his time at work flirting with women. I'm a gay man but I wanted to say that I fully support women. It's really curious to see men getting all triggered when a woman chooses her selfstandinghood over marriage and childrearing. It's like their egos are being threatened and so they shame women as a way to shield themselves. The ironic thing here is that men are all about the "traditional" wife who is submissive, and even when they get a good wife there's a high chance they will end up cheating at work and thus, destroying their families. The man can freely walk away, but the mother has to bear the physical responsabilities of her children like making food, feeding them, sending them to school, helping them with homework, and looking after her kids when they get sick. So I think it's a good thing that women are standing up for themselves and shining with their own light.

Teen/young wife/motherhood is a generational curse in my family that stopped with me.
I have one child. It took me 7 years to be able to afford it on my own. In the middle I was basically at the mercy of my family and my ex-do not have kids. It makes you stuck with whoever is helping you afford rent.

my dad told me at 12 I was a mistake (like I asked to be here in the first place) and badmouthed my mom every chance he got whenever I saw him. My mom didn’t say anything about him only to use her and her relationship as an example. Now at 34 he wonders why I don’t call him for his birthday or see him during the holidays.

I’ve already told my girls that if they decide to have children, all the child rearing is going to fall on them. The man can walk away Scott free and the mother has all the responsibilities. They know what’s up. PS. I’m married, but my son was from a previous relationship where his dad walked away and never even gave a shit if he was alive or dead. Just saying. My husband and I have been married 27 years. We have daughters. I still did all the child rearing even while working a full time job. When my youngest daughter was 8 she looked at me and said, “ Why do you have to do everything for us?” Even then she could see it.
I don’t understand why so many men feel like raising their own children is not their responsibility. Especially when both parents are working. Luckily I have seen some fathers take good care of their children. But my mother also told me, only have children if you are ready to raise them on your own because you can’t count on the man staying around for them. She knows because her first husband didn’t care much about his children after the divorce he caused himself by having an affair. And he was a man working a respectable job. He regrets it today now that he is a grandfather, but it doesn’t change the past. I don’t know if I should have children or not, some men say how much they want children, but how do I know how he would behave if he really had them? Maybe some men like the fantasy image of having children but not the reality of it, and they can run away easily as nobody really judges them for being a bad father.
@@Marivi247 Exactly. My husband is a good man, he’s an excellent provider, has never missed a day of work and is an excellent employee. He’s not a bad person. He just wasn’t involved in the day to day childrearing. I went to every appointment, every field trip, did Girl Scouts, robot club, kids allergy shots 3x a week, parent teacher conferences, took the kids to Disneyland with another mom twice. Went to kids movies because he doesn’t care for cartoons. I used my PTO for all those things. He planned all the rare big stuff- the out of country trips. We took the girls to New York, England, Africa. He’s actually great compared to other men. ❤️But I still did all the daily stuff.

As the one woman pointed out, men are willing to play the role that patriarchy sets up for them. But, modern patriarchy does not penalize child free men. Ultimately, men have the freedom to do what they want in a patriarchy. They can choose how attentive of a husband or father they want to be.

See, here's the thing: if you don't have kids, then tell men you want have kids, they'll dangle kids over your face, like a carrot you will not get. Or if you do have their child they will make sure you are miserable the entire time. Taunting you, by saying hey, I gave you the kid you wanted. Or the men will leave and say you are just another baby mother, single mom with baggage, or used up.

I used to work for the govt and when I’d ask them authentication questions.. fathers didn’t know DOB, full names etc about their children. It was gross and they could tell I was judging them.

Childfree and 52. I'm neither alone nor unhappy.
I just turned 40. At 14 I decided I never wanted to be married or have kids. Everyone told me I'd regret it, I'll be lonely, when I'm in my 30s my biological clock will start ticking and I'll be desperate for a baby blah blah blah. Yeah. None of that happened and I'm so glad I ignored everyone. I have tons of hobbies, great family and friends, I'm fulfilled and happy. On the other hand, most of the women I know with kids are miserable! Haggered, bored, taken for granted by their partners and kids and my god in so glad that's not my life 😊 actually the healthiest, happiest family I know is a family friend's lesbian daughter and her wife and their two kids. They evenly share responsibility and genuinely love being mums together, they're sweet. Maybe there's something about the dynamic of it being two women, they put in equal effort rather than one being the main caregiver.

I eat a vegan diet. I am very active physically. I limit my alcohol consumption to about One to two servings of alcohol a month.
I have strong social and emotional connections and am involved with my community. While this is not a promise that I will not develop a terminal or chronic disease as I age, but creates conditions for health and vitality . Vitality .
I have been planning to my retirement since I was able to. I hope that my behavioral practices and financial decisions now will afford me good healthcare in my later years.
I don't think it is wise to assume that there will be any nationalized healthcare for seniors in the next 10 years. It looks like the healthcare industry will begin to collapse within that time. Here's hoping that The nation will be indecent enough political health to make some better, long-term decisions about healthcare in the United States. But I'm hoping that I will be able to afford my healthcare and will be able to enjoy relatively good health as I age.

I’ve been wearing a wedding ring for months even though I am a single woman because I got tired of them hitting on me in public. I am 50 years old and I still get approached in public and it’s disgusting. Leave me alone. I work in hospice, men are the ones who die alone. Years with no calls or visitors.
I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that single, childfree women are not 'rule followers'. Many men are intimidated/threatened by women who think for themselves and live their best lives. Largely because they often believe they will NOT be sufficient for such women. It will be harder to FORCE yourself on a woman who is less inclined to submit to social norms.

I once saw a video on my home page, which was an unhappily single man doing a "reaction" to a childfree woman's viral video.
His biggest complaint was that, "her acting that way wasn't attractive to him, and so she's throwing her future away because a 'successful' man (like himself) would never want to 'put up with that behavior'". He then talked about how successful he was because he was a college professor (Geography/Earth Sciences), and how by women taking this mindset, they are throwing away all their opportunities (to be with him) and making themselves disgusting to guys like him.

Exactly! I am 52 have 2 cats and chose to be single a long time ago. I have peace, no drama, enjoy my life and love my furry companions who are always on my side and don't play emotional and power tripping controlling games. I have had enough of the patriarchal BS. It takes a while and we have to detox all of the Hallmark movies we saw out of our systems. But once you do and choose to see the truth there is no going back. That is why men feel threatened. They can tell they've lost one and they are all wishing they could be the men in the Stepford Wives movie.

Married with a man and one child, people still complain how come you only have one child even do they know I have a lot health issues.
I also, work as a caregiver and a school volunteer. The woman may be alone, but not lonely, they have friends and get visits from their friends children.
At the school, 95% of the volunteers are mom and the few dads that volunteer are always the same ones.
I wasn't even married but I had one and a few people asked if I was going to have another!
My friend has one child, had cervical cancer and people still have the audacity to ask when she's gonna have more kids 🤦♀️
Men feel frustrated that they can't guilt women into having kids so they can't trap them and force them to be linked to that man through the child. Because if you don't have a child with that man and you don't like him, you can block him and even get a restraining order if he pesters you to much. Children are expensive, and in the US where there’s barely any maternity leave and support I understand why people aren’t having kids. There’s also so many people who were abused by their parents and don’t want to risk becoming like them so they don’t have children. There’s plenty of older folks who question why their children never talk to them, because they’re tired of the abuse they suffer. There is nothing wrong with being childfree or having children, live how you want.

I hate that it's OK to ask people why they don't have kids but not OK to ask why on earth someone decided to procreate. Especially to people who are already struggling to look after themselves or the kids they've already got. I don’t dislike kids I just don’t ever want to live with them, and I don’t want to have to spend more than a couple hours at a time with them ever.
But when people ask me questions like that I like to ask them why I would want kids? You usually hear the most selfish stuff come out of their mouth.
A lot of men think our main purpose is to give our bodies and time to them, procreate with them, take care of them, and help them carry on "their" legacy by having a child. A lot do NOT see us as equals nor do they want to build with us or stay monogamous to us as we age, yet want to keep us around for their use. So when women decide not to step into wife and mother roles, men see this as ultimately taking away from THEM. They wouldnt receive all the mentioned benefits from us. Our attention and desire is elsewhere. This is why they are mad at single childless women.

I was married. I have a wonderful son. I have amazing grandchildren who I'm watching grow and learn about the world. I divorced and have no plans to remarry or even live with a man ever again. I'm now debt free, financially comfortable, and my life is peaceful, joy-filled, and full. I vacation with friends or on my own when I want. My income is mine to do with as I see fit. I date a nice man when I want to and don't when I don't want to. He gets me and I appreciate that about him. I'm successful, living my best life, and I'm in my 50s. Life is truly good. I asked her once why she never married again, she said she doesn’t want to be anyone’s maid, men her generation would expect her to iron their clothes and cool for them and she doesn‘t want all these duties. Apparently she had a boyfriend sometimes but she never told anyone about it 😅 She really tried to protect herself from being used as a maid… I understand her much better now

Ladies, just dumped the kids with the dad and if the dad refuses, just take them to foster care or Safehaven (if he’s mad that you took his kids elsewhere other than you being the default parent, that is proof that he doesn’t care about the kids he’s just using you as an anchor). They want the title being a father just not the responsibility of raising their own children that they claim they want.
The father can be the default primary caregiver, and let the mother provide financial support, since men claim that Family Court is unfair( in most cases), and also claim that single Father‘s are the better parent compared to single moms.

Right in some cases I think full custody should actually be forced on them if they were pushing her to make a baby he shouldn't be allowed to take off.
The reason the family courts usually favor women is because there severly underpaid and if she's under paid like that, or a stripper, music performer or any role were the women is selling sex to men it's not a healthy situation for a child to grow up in so what I would do is offer him full custody and if he didn't want it I'd give the child up for adoption. They know why women get angry here too child free women see them do that to single mothers all the time and when they walk out on their families like that they can't be trusted. Because a situation like this is what provokes a woman to have an abortion in the first place.

@@unicorn73212 you’re right, this also reminds me of that story that happened on Reddit, where a “guy got his girlfriend pregnant, and tried to use the pregnancy as a way to get her to change her mind into keeping the baby, but she refused and still ended up giving the guy full custody. That story alone really pissed me off because it really goes to show that he really didn’t cared about his child (though he claimed he does) he just wanted to use the child as a way to maintain a “ lifelong connection” and now he got played because now he’s a bitter single father, and has the audacity to call her a deadbeat mother when clearly she pays twice the amount of child support that was court ordered.

Yes the main reason why I think that society pressures women into having children is because becoming a mother generally holds women back from achieving their educational and career goals. Even after they finished completing their education and established their careers they often fall behind in their careers once they have children and often sacrifice their career goals because of children. By pressuring women into having children is society’s way of oppressing women. Men get judged by society too for not wanting children but women get judged and criticized for it way more than men do. Married childfree women will say that they are the ones people mostly question and judge for being childfree not their husbands that much. And because choosing not to have children increases a woman’s chances of completing their education and succeeding in their professional careers men see it as a threat and hate it even more when a woman says she don’t want neither marriage or children. Not marrying and having children also gives women more of a chance to work in the highest paid jobs such as top level executives, CEOs, entrepreneurs, investment bankers, heirs to fortune, and venture capitalists which is all mostly dominated by men. Women who are single and childless on average have the highest incomes and are the ones most likely to become rich by their incomes. I am a 40 year old male and I believe that it should be a woman’s choice whether she wants children or not and if a woman chooses not to get married or have children that is her choice and nobody should get mad or judge her for it. I have autism, work part time at Walmart, don’t drive, and still live with my parents. I would like to live on my own and get married one day but don’t want any children. Part of the reason why I don’t want any children is because raising children will be a lot for me with my autism.

I am 51 years old, not married, no children, and have a dog. I am extremely happy. I've been married before, and it was the worst mistake I've ever made. I've tried having children, but I've had 2 miscarriages and a stillborn. I was told, by some men and some women, that I was less than a woman because I don't have any of these. Why????? I can do want, say what I want, no headaches!!!! Hell, I've even been told by a lot of women that they wish that they could be me because I smile, laugh, and travel all of the time and I don't have to report to anyone but me.
Good for you. A woman from West Africa, could not carry the baby each time she became pregnant. The man's family ridiculed her and recommended that he find someone else (either divorce and remarry or take a second wife). It was so much pressure for her. Now that women are claiming their right to just be, society (patriarch) is still up to its old tricks.

@@Girlwithopinion-j6t In regard to marriage, make sure to watch out for all of the red flags, even if I was with my ex for 6 years before I married him. When I look back, there were so many flags there that it was ridiculous. They were literally screaming at me but I chose to ignore them. I have totally taken responsibility for that and have learned my lesson.
I would have told my younger self to just be happy with myself and to not worry about criticism. Finding the right man is the hardest thing to do. If you find the man that you feel that you want to be with, watch out for red flags before you get married. Please don't overlook them like I did.
Worrying about how strangers choose to live their life is crazy and a waste of precious time.
