    i wish the bottom screen was bigger, it just looks awkward compared to the much bigger top screen, and like you said, ds and 3ds games that have transitions between top and bottom screen will look very clunky

    You deserve so many more subs. Great vid showing this off from your perspective. I’ll stick with my Deck OLED + Surface Duo 2 setup to get a proper balance of both systems for their use cases. The Ayaneo DS’s subpar control setup is a deterring factor for my PC library and as for the Wii U library, most of the good ones are either ported to Switch or emulated fine elsewhere. DS setup and configuration is also much less tedious on the Duo lol it just works via DraStic. This seems like a great device though for those who really want an All-in-one device.

    Shame about the price (though it's definitely at least partly the "niche product" tax,) because I think this is pretty close to a _really_ good form factor for these gaming-focused mini-PCs. Maybe someone will come back to the concept later and try using a larger bottom screen and maybe fitting the sticks in better. That one'll probably be expensive too, but it might be more interesting. This is one of those designs that I really want to see work well, but we're probably always going to see compromises like with the sticks here.

      I totally agree. I think one of the huge problems is that DS-style clamshells are difficult for anything other than portability. As much as I enjoy the Flip DS' compactness, I'm kinda hoping a hardware manufacturer attempts putting controls on the outside (e.g., a Surface Duo with a GameSir x2) for more comfortable Windows gaming.

    The biggest issue with this is the size of the lower screen and the distance between the screens, making it kinda pointless, most of all for ds games like Contra 4 or Yoshis's Island DS. That's why I am waiting for a device that works like a smartphone controller where you can place the screen unit horizontally or vertically.

    • @GameXData
      @GameXData  5 месяцев назад +2

      If all you wanted was a device to play the 3DS and DS games with the features of original hardware, you're correct that buying original hardware is the best way to do that. Emulation devices (in general) simply offer a different way to experience the games. A device like the Flip DS offers bigger, better displays than a 3DS with more flexible gameplay options. (I personally enjoy it more than my Steam Deck mostly due to its compactness.) If none of that vibes with you, that's chill, but it's another option if it ever becomes something you're looking for.

    After a couple months of awkwardness, Ayaneo updated their software to provide a few dedicated keyboards for the bottom screen. They're not perfect, but their existence goes a long way to making the Flip DS much more accessible for general Windows usage.
    To check out the keyboards in action, here's a link to the follow-up video: ruclips.net/video/qYRcQ_rR1m0/видео.html

    I've heard the battery is god awful and that it isn't fast enough for good Wii U emulation. I have no idea why they went with x86 here. ARM would've had a much longer battery life and this form factor just isn't good for x86 yet.

    • @GameXData
      @GameXData  4 месяца назад

      I'm not sure who told you that, but they're giving you bad info. As described in the video, Wii U emulation and battery life are both pretty great on the Flip DS.
      As for wanting an ARM-based machine, Cemu and Citra don't work well with Windows on ARM at the moment. Overall usability for gaming likely would've suffered.

    • @TheAbsol7448
      @TheAbsol7448 4 месяца назад

      @@GameXDataI believe I saw it on another video. I just looked at an article saying that it has about 3 hours of battery at the max.
      I would've preferred if this were an ARM device running Android, which likely would've made it a lot smaller while having a much longer battery life, which is something I'd personally sacrifice Cemu for. It's a lot of money to spend on what I hear is 1 hour if battery for Cemu. I was interested until I learned it was x86 because I figured the battery life just wouldn't be there.

    • @GameXData
      @GameXData  4 месяца назад

      Yeah, no, I've gotten 4 - 5 hours in Citra (~13W) without trying in the past.
      The Flip DS' form factor is perfectly fine for Windows but would be terrible for Android. If you're looking for a dual screen, Android alternative, you should be looking at the Surface Duo 2 instead.

    I recently just bought a new nitnendo 3ds XL about a week ago and this really caught my attention. It seems like a great way to play 3ds and wiiu games, but i just feel like the bottom screen is way to small, and it takes a lot of effort to setup the emulators PLUS theres no 3ds home menu. So until then it just doesnt seem worth buying it. I feel like your better off just buying a dual ips new nitnendo 3ds xl.

    • @GameXData
      @GameXData  4 месяца назад +1

      To be fair, I've had no real usability issues with the screen size for dual screen emulation, and both Wii U and 3DS emulation only take a couple minutes to set up one time. I'm also not quite sure I miss the a 3DS home menu, but it's easy enough to set up game shortcuts on the desktop if you don't feel like using a dedicated game launcher.

    • @GameXData
      @GameXData  5 месяцев назад +2

      I find that my Steam Deck gradually loses battery while in Sleep mode at (anecdotally) maybe a few percentage points every few hours. (Slow but noticeable if I leave it sitting for a while.) By contrast, I've left the Flip DS sitting with its lid closed for over a day and noticed virtually no drop to battery remaining.
      It's also worth noting that my Steam Deck takes 2x - 3x longer to wake from sleep. The longer perceived battery and quicker wake have actually made a large difference in how convenient the Flip DS is to use each day.

      Yes. The system treats both screens as individual monitors. As a result, you're able to set a main display or alter display positions through Windows settings.
      The one caveat is that the AyaSpace overlay follows the secondary screen. When I've tried making the bottom display the main display in the past, I also ended up with the overlay blown up on the top screen when I needed to use it.
