    every handheld review should have a pocketable section! how well does it fit, when running demanding games does it get warm in your pocket, how easy is it pull it back out and start gaming and also put it back from your pocket in terms of sleep/closed lid functions, ect. Cause while i love my steam deck its also nice having a pocketable handheld that you can have literally anywhere and dont need a separate bag or backpack for it

      i'd argue most , if not all pc handhelds are not pocketable? Maybe the GPD minis or the WinGPD4, but its so rare that a section covering it wouldn't really be merited.

      @@MrSpineduke There's an argument to be made about the Lite Ayaneo, but that's basically it. I think we need to stop focusing on pushing the top TDP processors and get a more midrange lower power, but most importantly cooler chip to get things fit in. Additionally, sliders may potentially help too. The biggest issue I see with getting something pocketable is the battery in something like these....

    I would definitely prefer a built-in keyboard to a second screen, especially since I don't have any DS games, but you're right about the recessed sticks not being good enough. It's so close to what I really want, but not quite there. I'd love to see a proper handheld that had collapsible grips and sticks that popped out so they could be full height when you're using them. I wish I could source all the chips and build something from scratch, because I want one that collapses into a pocketable brick and expands into a mini-laptop style game pad with grips.

      I love the recessed sticks on the win mini. They are hall sticks so accuracy is absurd for the small size. It's only second to my steam deck. Whoops my full sized controllers for accuracy.

    • @anon_y_mousse
      @anon_y_mousse 4 месяца назад

      @@cheeeeezewizzz So you're saying that with Hall effect sensors you don't need taller sticks to have good accuracy? I'll have to get a couple so I can test it then. However, failing that, I think maybe it would work to have the thumb pads screw on and the posts to be telescoping, like an old style TV antenna. It might require a weird locking mechanism, but I'll play with that idea too.

    My problem with all of these devices is Windows, it finds every way it can to annoy you with bloatware/spyware and disrupt your experience, and it generally just feels weird to try and game on a portable device using Windows, as opposed to Steam OS or whatever the Nintendo Switch uses which are designed with portable gaming in mind. I like the physical keypad and clamshell though, the Nintendo DS was such a joy to play on because of the clamshell.

    I honestly wonder if half these "stick drift" issues are actual stick drift. I mean there is something clearly wrong, but it doesn't necessarily make it stick drift. These symptoms being identified a sstick drift can happen to Hall Effect sensors.

    • @richardhunter9779
      @richardhunter9779 5 месяцев назад

      "Stick drift" is defined as a phenomenon, and is being observed. Potentiometer track degradation causes stick drift, but is not the only cause of it.
      In particular (!), Joycon type sticks experience drift primarily because of deformation of the rear plate, and insufficient pressure of the wiper on the tracks at the bottom.
      Saying "stick drift" = "potentiometer track degradation" is like saying "rain"="wetness". There are many ways to get wet without rain being the cause.

    • @KazeEternal
      @KazeEternal 5 месяцев назад

      @@richardhunter9779 Ya if you're going to approach this from the "rain"=/="wetness" angle, then the video is still incorrect as you can still get stick drift from a hall effect sensor. There are a variety of means for which this can happen. Same applies to trigger drift and trigger lock on the xbox one controllers when they started using hall effect sensors for the first time. A lot of this was caused by misaligned magnets or magnets that not remain attached to the trigger mechanism and would get stuck to the daughter board of the controller.
      Ergo, in context, we can then identify a phenomenon in the standard vernacular being applied as the observed effect. Welcome to modern english. I guess you'll want to argue colloquials with me all day and failing to realize that in effect was not referring to anything outside of potentiometer degredation as being "stick drift".
      which leads me to my original statement, where other issues which could result in similar phenomenon are not directly related to what an issue we commonly conflate to be "stick drift" and the actual underlying cause that results in this association with a potentiometer exclusive too.
      What was said, was made in that context. So while I'll thank you for trying to clarify, you missed the point.

    you didn't read the review notes from Ayaneo correctly.... you DO HAVE HALL EFFECT JOYSTICK SENSORS.. you just don't have THE MASS-PRODUCED VERSION OF THEM.... In other words you just have a different type of Hall Effect joysticks than will be available in the public release version....
    - aside from you misreading this, I think you did a GREAT JOB by showing us the review notes from them... it gives usd a TRUE LOOK behind the scenes of what kind of company Ayaneo REALLY is and I think they were perfectly reasonable in requesting that you don't mention certain things.... I DON'T think you did anything wrong by showing this and you did a FAVOR FOR AYANEO because it actually puts them in a QUITE POSITIVE LIGHT.... (unlike some of the horror stories we've heard from some reviews about companies like nvidia, asus, msi, & a few other big companies)
    - I hope this didn't cause ANY problems between you and AYANEO... there aren't many channels I TRULY TRUST to give me REAL FEEDBACK that also cover Ayaneo products and YOU are ONE of them (and you do a podcast with the other... but I'm not telling who LOL) So THANK YOU for putting it out there that they ARE REASONABLE and aren't asking strange, dishonest requests... I have a BAD habit of not waiting until the end to leave comments... and THIS is EXACTLY one of those times LOL - You said you experienced 'stick drift, which wouldn't happen on Hall Effect sticks" BUT they said in their review notes that the stick "may not return" ... this is EXACTLY what happened to you... that wasn't "stick drift" ... that was the sensor not returning back to center/neutral and was only temporary, (right? it did fix itself, yea?) - from what I have come to understand 'stick drift' STAYS like that until you adjust for it in your calibration setup (I THINK you can compensate for it in calibration... I know I had to a long time ago on game controller for my PC)
      Again, you DID/DO have a Hall Effect Sensor Joystick in the Flip (if they are to be believed, but I don't see why they wouldn't be) - If it wasn't a hall effect sensor stick then I don't think it would have been able to reset the issue at all and you would have HAD TO adjust for it in calibration (you just hold the stick in a position for it to show that it's centered, then click OK/Done and that SHOULD compensate for the drifting... at least it USED TO be like that in Windows XP lol... dang I'm getting old :( lol

      Once again - I'm not "trying to keep the illusion that the review is objective". I'm disclosing facts. I'm disclosing all the things that one could feel like would influence the review
      I believe my reviews are objective and plainly state so (rather than try to allude to it) but more importantly it's up to you to determine whether the content of my review sounds impartial to you.
