      @@t.c.9029 you really cannot defend her just by saying that she is just a child. That is the reason why I barely like kids at all. Kids don't have morals and even common sense.....

    He literally never lived again after what she did. His entire life ended in suffering and misery. I would say all the 3 lives was never the same again.

    one thing i love about this scene is how well it's acted. She believes this is flirting and living a rom com while you feel his frustration.

    if briony drowned (bc of her stupidity), the family 100% wouldve blamed robbie for not looking out for her. Hence why he's so frustrated bc briony intentionally jumped just for funsies 💀

      I agree Briony ruined his life but if he had let her drown her parents would've probably held him responsible and fired him and his mother but I guess that would've been better than what happened.

    I know Briony made a very serious mistake, wich has marked her for life, but sometimes, our instinct tends to do impulsive things, especially when it comes to "revenge". What Briony did is unforgible, but imagine the scene: a thirteen years old girl, who is in the library of her home and sees the boy she loves kissing her beloved sister. How would she feel? Be trayed. Hurt. Humiliated. I'm sure that you, finding yourself in the same situation, would do to exact same thing. Am I right?

    • @hajimeoikawa1892
      @hajimeoikawa1892 2 месяца назад +15

      Nah. 13 years old is old enough to know right from wrong. Sure if you put yourself in her shoes you'd feel humiliated and angry for seeing your crush kissing your sister. But briony is a smart child, she 100% knew that robbie would be jailed for her lies. And yet she still went with it. What briony did is evil.

      I always thought she actually believed that it was him who molested that guest girl. Briony had rich imagination and that's shown in the beginning of the movie. So her hurt ego imagined the whole thing AND she believed it was real. She realized what she did only when she grew up.
      And she didn't only feel hurt and humiliated, she was afraid of what she saw in the library. No sexed back than, and her sister didn't explain her what tf happened. She was a child who witnessed adults having sex. It must have been traumatic and shocking. Which added to her believing her imagination.

    • @m.ceniza4688
      @m.ceniza4688 Месяц назад +3

      @@walkingwith_dinosaursshe already believed him to be a pervert after the naughty letter slip-up + seeing her sister undress in front of him. The sex scene in the library just sealed the deal for her, which may be why she confused him for Cumberbatch. Atonement is just a sad tale about how there are some fuck-ups you can’t fix or compensate for no matter what we do. All you can do is move on from it, or in Briony’s case, let the guilt consume you. Her only escape was literal dementia.
