I've owned an Ogio Silencer stand bag for over a little over a year now using it 2-3 times a week on a push cart and carrying it on a 9 hole course. All in all, this is a very good bag that I would recommend to anyone who wants to keep their clubs from knocking about or prevent bag chatter. However, there are a few things I've found good and bad about this bag that you can only find out in a longer term "test", including: The good: - This bag is even better at preventing bag chatter and keeping clubs silent than I thought it would be. - The strap design and padding on the bag is really excellent and much more comfortable than any bag I've used. I wish backpack straps were designed like this. Big thumbs up. - The drink and valuable pockets are really convenient and well designed, and there is more than adequate storage in this bag, particularly for a somewhat compact stand bag. The sorta bad: - The rain guard that comes with the bag is a tight fit and it will just barely fit over the top of my clubs when zipped up. The rain guard is also not as substantial or as good a quality as I've found on some other bags at the same price point. - The clubs can sometimes get "stuck" and you will need to shuffle the clubs a bit to find the one that is preventing 1-2 other clubs from seating properly in the bottom. For some reason, I expected that this bag would not have the problem of grips or shafts getting tangled in the bag, but that is exactly what does happen at times. Sometimes a small bit of the material from the bottom of the bag or holding mechanism can also come loose as well. - The bag is a bit heavier to carry than other stand bags. This is probably to be expected due to the silencer mechanism adding weight. Something to be aware of though. And the ugly: - The stand mechanism does not seem to wear well with lots of use. It is definitely not as durable as that on Ping stand bags or some other stand bags at the same price point. I've twice had one of the legs come loose from the anchor point and the legs can slide or "spread" too much on slick surfaces. - This bag only really works with standards sized grips. I have experimented with some midsize grips in the past year and they were a VERY tight fit in this bag. In fact, the larger grips may have stretched the gripping mechanism as it feels like some of the slots don't grip nearly as well as they used to. This has only happened in the slots I used clubs with midsize grips, so I don't think it is simply from normal wear and tear.
I have had both bags. I originally bought the stand bag so I would have flexibility when I went to range and practice green. But primarily ride in a cart for rounds. The stand bag was a little big for my courses bag well. Over time (~4 months) the legs of my bag completely broke off. After contacting OGIO though they completely replaced my bag and gave me the cart bag at my request. Great bag and no complaints. Great company as well!
Just purchased the silencer cart bag and am very impressed with all the features. As I am a cart golfer these days every thing is at easy reach and it lives up to its name “Silencer”. Keep the vlogs coming mate!
Great review. If I ever decide to give up my Ben Hogan cart bag from 1978 then I will have to get one of these. True story. Still using Apex blades from 78 too. All anniversary gifts from my wife.
13:00 I've often thought that even cart bags needed a kickstand, albeit a smaller version than a carry bag. Just so you could stand them up a little more sturdily instead of hoping the bag doesn't tip over or trying to lay the bag down without banging up some clubs or damaging the bag. Another great video, well done review.
I've been rockin' the standbag for about 6 months now. It's definitely my favorite bag to date. It's so comfortable to walk with and it's shaped to fit perfectly on a cart.( I agree about the cart bag: the stand is better) It's mostly effective for keeping your clubs silent as long as you arrange them well. Occasionally the grip slots in the base will move out of sync and prevent a clean lock. It's easy to fix if you pull out an adjacent club and work them back in. It's usually a $250US bag but I've found them for less. Great review Randy.
Robert Nava hi. A quick couple of questions for you if you don't mind. Do you ever hear the club heads hitting each other? I hate club head clatter and every other iron in my bag has a cover to stop that. One to prevent noise but more to prevent dings/dinks and marks . I thought I heard some metal on metal when randy was jumping around. Also does the gripping tech (at collar or bottom of the bag) mark or damage grips. Really appreciate you getting back. Cheers Martin
Martin Moore I also have face savers on my irons. The will hit, however it's less likely and not as severe. If the clatter is a pet peeve then it's a partial solution. I have never noticed any wear on the end of the grips either.
No difficulty getting the clubs in and out of the bag? Have seen it mentioned in a few online reviews. Can imagine it being frustrating if you’re having a bad day on the course!
Meanwhile I have tested the Silencer Stand bag in the waterproof version... ...and it is the most useful bag I ever owned! THANKS Randy for your review!
Randy... I have both bags and like them better than anything else on the market. Your review was spot on. Honestly without the torsion strap both bags twist. that's about the only negative with these bags and yes the clubs do not fall out if you turn the bag upside down. Thanks
I own a much older version called the “OGIO Chamber” I think…it’s brilliant! Love it. I carry Callaway Apex irons in it and they look brand spanking new after 5 years. My ONLY issue with it is if you are trying out any new clubs on the range or something, there really isn’t anywhere to put them…So, if you’re a gear freak (like most golfers), that could be an issue. This new one does seem to have the open putter pocket, so you can just dump a few extra clubs in there, so that’s nice to know. Otherwise, love the bag!! FWIW, I have on occasion used medium sized grips and the bag holds them as well.
Just when you start to think "I'm not addicted to golf you tube content, I only watch a little bit" You find yourself watching a 13 minute review of a bag (alright it was 2 bags but still!!!!)
I bought one of these around 2014 and it's been a tank. Love it! Only now at the tail end of 2021 is it starting to fail. The legs aren't as strong anymore.
Excellent review. I love the format. I almost purchase the Ogio Silencer earlier this year because Yes, I am one of those people who hates his peas touching his mash potatoes. However, I came to the same conclusion as you. The cart bag didn't seem as solid as the stand bag but the main factor I didn't buy any of these bag was the disappearance of the TORQ™ Strap. I love that feature and will come back Ogio once that feature returns
I own the stand bag and i am absolutely happy with it. The one pocket I think is awkwardly placed is the range finder pocket. It is right on top of the bottle pocket and if you have that bottle pocket filled with liter sized bottle, the range finder pocket gets squeezed, making it harder to get anything in and out of that pocket. But other than that, I believe i will never buy another brand's bag. :)
Great review, very accurate. I actually owned the silencer cart bag and sold it to get the stand bag. Not having the grab handle was definitely annoying to me. I actually like the club layout that the stand bag has too. I never carry, but I often walk with a push cart. The stand bag fits on the cart nicely and the clubs are layed out perfectly where the card bag seemed to be upside down. I agree that the stand bag does seems to be made a little better too. Both bags are awesome though.
Good job Mr. Fried Eggs....Very well thought out, explained and actually even entertaining. Loved your Bart Conner impersonation on the course. Well done sir!
Been playing the silencer stand bag for 2 years and love it. If I had one complaint the kickstand base does not always fit well into every cart. With that said, its a trade off I'm willing to accept to keep my expensive forged irons looking clean. I refuse to switch to cart bag though I rarely ever walk, simply due to convenience of stands on range and practice greens.
Rob S hi Rob couple of questions. I'm like you want my iron to stay new as long as possible. Hence have head Covers on every other club in the bag to prevent damage. Is there any clatter at all. I thought I heard metal to metal when randy was jumping around. 😀 Also does the tech on the collar or at the bottom of the damage/ mark the grips. Thanks Martin
Martin Moore it's not entirely flawless, if you go out looking for the biggest bumps and pot holes you may get them to lightly touch occasionally, but I would estimate 98% of bag chatter eliminated. Used to be a iron cover guy, I've ditched them. Never a noticeable mark on grips, but I play firm black colored grips. I can't promise how it would treat white, or even those overpriced dri tac sponges.
Last Ogio bag I purchased was their "Schling Bag" disaster! Have stuck with Sun Mountain ever since. And yes, the self-closing ball pocket was a GREAT feature!
Love my #Ogio #Silencer bag! Well worth the investment, as I've had mine for 4 years now. I only have one issue w/ it... The side zippers for the valuables pockets could have been design better. The zipper opens/closes at almost a 90 degrees angle down, this makes it very difficult to fully close and open w/ one hand. You need one hand to pinch and hold the zipper end while using your other hand to operate the zipper... Love the review Randy best bag review I've seen!
Loved this review...the clubs staying in the bag when the bag tips seems really awesome. I don't have a huge trunk and the wife always takes the suv so that would be so nice for getting them in and out of the trunk. Also...Princess Bride is top five movie all time for sure!
Love the 2 other Ogio stand bags I've owned. Currently have a Nike and it's okay, but prefer the Ogios. Only draw back to the Ogios is the price you pay for the extra features in terms of weight. They do run a bit heavier. Also, that plastic handle at the top you refer to I think is there to easy the bag on and off your shoulders. If not, it works the best for that purpose. My Nike doesn't have it so I have to stick some fingers in the putter well like you did when removing the cart bag from the trunk. Very entertaining and informative. First video I saw from you and you got a new subscriber!
I have the Grom II. Sounds like I need to buy a back up if they did away with the cart strap and speed ball pocket. I guess Ill need to see if that bag still has those features.
Awesome review Randy!! Now, you wouldn't dare to see anyone to a golf bag review and attempt a cart wheel to show its stability!! 😂😂 That was incredible! I'm actually thinking about getting one now. No really, I am.
great review. thanks. and I am glad that you did the movement test because if i tried those moves with a bag on my back, i would never be able to play golf again!!
Nice review. I got an Ogio with a quick access ball pocket. It's nice but when it is full the weight of balls can open the pocket when you get the bag out of the car. So you don't want that when you are cartwheeling around the course. Try to review the Tomtom golfer 2 or Garmin S60.
Love the technology... had the Chamber bag for a few years absolutely loved it, then the strap broke... they warrantied the bag, but sent the silencer cart bag instead. hated the silencer bag. it was floppy, compared to the chamber. they went for light weight which was nice. but it did not perform as well as the chamber did, disappointing. i now have the 2018 Sun Mountain C130... loving it so far.
Great video, great review - I just about pissed myself laughing. But I desperately need a new bag and Randy has convinced me to buy the silencer. My club has the cart bag for sale and I’ll be getting it before my next round.
Great review! While I loved my silencer bag when I got it about 6 to 7 months ago, the bag has really started to see wear quickly. I've played about 40 rounds with it and the top seam is now coming apart which is annoying for a higher priced bag. Additionally, I've noticed that the clubs no longer grip as well as they did when I first got the bag, basically went from the silencer to the slightly quiet bag.
I immediately bought this bag after watching your video thanks. I owned a Grom but my bulldog chew the side pocket zipper. Would the plastic locking mechanism last? I would think that after using it over and over that would become loose.
I've noticed that Ogio tends to get rid of good idea's (torsion, spring pocket). With they didn't as it's one of the main reasons I did not feel the need to get an Ogio when I purchased my new bag.
I took your link to the vid and did see you pull clubs a few inches up from the bottom of the bag. I would have liked to see you put clubs in the bag and pull them fully out of the bag as we would have to do during play.
Nice review, when walking the rhythm of the banging clubs is soothing. But the silence could be nice if you want to embrace the surroundings! Also the only thing you could have done was to remind people how loud carrying a normal bag is when walking. And the show a normal clip of walking with the silence bag
I own this bag and love it, my only question is what would be the best arrangement of irons in the bag. Should you start long irons on top left and just go left to right with shorter and shorter irons or is there a better more organized way? I love the bag though without a doubt works perfectly! Love the review!
Great review. Can't lie have never seen such an in-depth bag review. Seems like a great way to help fight bag chatter. I guess the only question is have is it hard to get the clubs in secured, and out? Lastly did u ever have to fight the bag getting a club out or "locking it in"? Love this channel. WHOOP whoop !!
Do you still have either of these bags, I have been looking all over for one, ever since they stop producing them.. I would love to get my hands on one.
Hi Randy. How easy was it to get the clubs in and out of the cart bag? I can imagine being a bit discombobulated after a bad few holes and boiling over if it’s a struggle to get a club in or out!!
I have the ogio ozone I think it's called. The only problem that I've hade with it is the plastic thingelybobs in the shoulder straps that broke and had to be tied together instead.
bought this for my Dad, but the stand mechanism broke. it sticks out, so I think as long as you're careful not to run into things work it, or lay it on your car on it, you should be good. 1:23
Great review! I'm getting the exact same stand bag you reviewed tomorrow. I'm sold on the bag but I've been reading a lot of reviews about how the stand bag does on a cart. I pretty much only ride now and I've heard the bottom is bigger then normal and doesn't sit well. Curious if you noticed that much? Didn't know if you maybe rode with the stand bag more then just for the review. Thanks in advance!
It's a nice bag but I'm worried about the Shot Scope grip tags on my clubs. The bottom clips might dislocate the tags and I won't be able to get it back.
How did the stand bag fit in the cart?? I just bought one and a lot of people say it doesn't fit in the cart. But in your video, the bag seemed to fit fine.
I am genuinely disappointed this video didn't include you strapping one of these bags onto a cart upside down and taking it for a round. Otherwise, great video! I owned a previous version of the cart bag, and I was sometimes annoyed that I could only put 14 clubs in when I'd want to take a couple extras with me to try. I agree that the torsion strap and easy access ball pocket should have returned as key features.

Most thorough bag review that I have seen in a long time, if ever. Great job, Randy. Always enjoy your content.
Thanks!

I've had my silencer for a year and a half and it still works like new. Great product, and don't think I'll Change any time soon.
Awesome!

No difficulty getting the clubs in and out of the bag? Have seen it mentioned in a few online reviews. Can imagine it being frustrating if you’re having a bad day on the course!
Loved the gumnastic moves!
And the all terrain boat!

THANKS Randy for your review!
Great Review. I own the stand bag and love it. I also use Jumbo grips and have no problems getting clubs in and out. Best Golf bag I've owned so far.
Sweet, thanks!
Pretty good pretty good. I like the cartwheel. The stand bag might be right what I am looking for.

Cart wheel while wearing a loaded golf bag earned my subscription...great job!
I've been using the ogio silencer cart bag every weekend for 2 years. Still looks new. The best benefit of the bag is not having to use head covers!
I bought one of these around 2014 and it's been a tank. Love it! Only now at the tail end of 2021 is it starting to fail. The legs aren't as strong anymore.

Aces on the cartwheel. Truly fantastic.

Liked the addition of the on course review. Turned out gr8!
Thanks!
Good job Mr. Fried Eggs....Very well thought out, explained and actually even entertaining. Loved your Bart Conner impersonation on the course. Well done sir!
Great review! I purchased a ogio silencer stand bag earlier in the year. It is amazing. Little heavier but it’s hard to beat silence and organisation.

Best review of a golf product ever Randy👏👏👏 if you hit those pot holes with your one wheel you might not have survived 😆😅😂
LOL great review Randy, I don't know of any other RUclipsr that would be able to make a bag review as entertaining as you, fantastic mate.
Loved this review...the clubs staying in the bag when the bag tips seems really awesome. I don't have a huge trunk and the wife always takes the suv so that would be so nice for getting them in and out of the trunk. Also...Princess Bride is top five movie all time for sure!
What are your thoughts on The Princess Bride?
Summarized in one word... inconceivable.
Fried Eggs Golf as you wish 😂😂😂😂
i don't mean to pry but do either of you have 6 fingers on your right hand
You are the goon squad
I like Robin Wright a lot better as Princess Buttercup. As Claire Underwood... no so much.
Sweet review. I love how you did a full review but still did it your Special way.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 worth it for the gymnastics display near the end
I never knew I needed a new bag until now.
Awesome Review brother! I will more than likely be replacing my current golf bag (Bag Boy Revolver) and buying this stand bag. So thanks!
I forgot to put a disclaimer... owning this bag will NOT allow you to do sweet cartwheels as seen in the video. Sorry.
Damn! I wanted to impress my little monsters. HaHa! Keep up the great work.
Excellent review! Really thorough
Thanks Michael!
Great video. One of the best and most useful reviews I've seen of ANY product. Thanks, man!
6 Pack of Guinness here in Ireland. Great review again Randy. Keep the foot to the floor on the Vlogs.
Bro I love that you have a Onewheel on the course
Great review! While I loved my silencer bag when I got it about 6 to 7 months ago, the bag has really started to see wear quickly. I've played about 40 rounds with it and the top seam is now coming apart which is annoying for a higher priced bag. Additionally, I've noticed that the clubs no longer grip as well as they did when I first got the bag, basically went from the silencer to the slightly quiet bag.
Love the review!! Honestly . . . this is the best review of golf equipment I've seen!! Really!!
Sorry, I just like to joke. My wife has reminded me that I should be kinder. I really love your vlog, great video as normal. Thanks
We have something in common... we both love my vlogs
I love the cart strap slot feature, always wanted a way to easily access my pockets!
Ha! The cart wheel attempt was fantastic!!!!!
I immediately bought this bag after watching your video thanks. I owned a Grom but my bulldog chew the side pocket zipper. Would the plastic locking mechanism last? I would think that after using it over and over that would become loose.
Nice review, I guess they are top end in the pricing, but the gripped clubs and lack of movement in a good idea.
Dang! I now want one of those bags... Oh Santa!!! 🎅
Spoiler... Santa is Scuba Steve...
If I had a nickel for every time I did a cartwheel 🤸♂️ out on the course with my carry bag I’d have...0 nickels. Awesome video.
p.s.- Princess Bride.
Michael Pasvantis That's one less than me...
wait, who doesn’t do cartwheels on the golf course, I thought everyone did them.
I've noticed that Ogio tends to get rid of good idea's (torsion, spring pocket). With they didn't as it's one of the main reasons I did not feel the need to get an Ogio when I purchased my new bag.
If you have a attachment on the tip of the golf club, like an arc cos or ball retriever. Will they still lock into place?
Great review, Randy. Wish I could say the same for the cartwheel. I give you a 5 on technique and a 3 on execution.
I took your link to the vid and did see you pull clubs a few inches up from the bottom of the bag. I would have liked to see you put clubs in the bag and pull them fully out of the bag as we would have to do during play.
...noted
Would screw-on systems like Arccos or Golfshot be harmed at the end of the grips as they lock in?
Great review! A little steep for a carry bag especially not having the cool ball pocket. Gotta keep incorporating the OneWheel in the product reviews😉
Always!
Nice cart wheel!
You should see my round-off...
Movement test was my favorite part!
I bet the big putter well on the cart bag is for a swing aid like an Orange Whip. They seem real popular these days.
Nice review, when walking the rhythm of the banging clubs is soothing. But the silence could be nice if you want to embrace the surroundings! Also the only thing you could have done was to remind people how loud carrying a normal bag is when walking. And the show a normal clip of walking with the silence bag
Thanks for the feedback Mike!
Will the top scratch the graphite shafts on woods going in and out constantly??
Love the movement test! Great cart-wheel dude.
Awesome review, loved the cartwheel pmsl, this bag has certainly piqued my interest
I own this bag and love it, my only question is what would be the best arrangement of irons in the bag. Should you start long irons on top left and just go left to right with shorter and shorter irons or is there a better more organized way? I love the bag though without a doubt works perfectly! Love the review!
Ogio is superb
Great review.
Can't lie have never seen such an in-depth bag review. Seems like a great way to help fight bag chatter.
I guess the only question is have is it hard to get the clubs in secured, and out? Lastly did u ever have to fight the bag getting a club out or "locking it in"?
Love this channel.
WHOOP whoop !!
Do you feel like the locking mechanisms on the bottom of the bag will wear down the grips after a long period of use?
Do the grips of your clubs take a "set" or get flat spots from the lower locking system?
While watching at work I started cracking up at the Movement test!
Some serious testing going on there...
Big ups for doing the important compulsory tests we need to see. The movement test
Those are badass. Only with they woulda incorporated the Woods seperated row a little better. Great Vid
can you recommend a good waterproof cart/trolley bag? thanks and greetings from Ireland
Good review Randy
Thanks. Good demonstration. I liked it.
Do you still have either of these bags, I have been looking all over for one, ever since they stop producing them.. I would love to get my hands on one.
Wow, this will be on my christmas list...
Ogio best golf bags by far.
Excellent review Randy!!! Very well tested and explained :)
Thanks Niall
BTW, love the video.. more of these please!
Thanks Kevin!
Fried Eggs Golf No... Thank you!
I still use the grom and it is my favorite bag to this day
I would like to know if you have gps golf tags on the club ends, would the bag pull those off?
Great review, really enjoy your channel!
What make/model camera did you use for the footage done at the course?
Great review! I'm getting the exact same stand bag you reviewed tomorrow. I'm sold on the bag but I've been reading a lot of reviews about how the stand bag does on a cart. I pretty much only ride now and I've heard the bottom is bigger then normal and doesn't sit well. Curious if you noticed that much? Didn't know if you maybe rode with the stand bag more then just for the review. Thanks in advance!
It's a nice bag but I'm worried about the Shot Scope grip tags on my clubs. The bottom clips might dislocate the tags and I won't be able to get it back.
i can only imagine the lucky few that got to see that movement test live. "Did he just do a cartwheel?" ..."Kinda"
Does it tear the grips up at all? Seems like maybe locking them in over and over again would wear them out prematurely.
What bag would you recommend to put on a push behind caddie?
Quick question. Are the slots big enough for oversized grips? Would you anticipate damage to GameGolf tags on the grip ends?
How did the stand bag fit in the cart?? I just bought one and a lot of people say it doesn't fit in the cart. But in your video, the bag seemed to fit fine.
I am genuinely disappointed this video didn't include you strapping one of these bags onto a cart upside down and taking it for a round. Otherwise, great video! I owned a previous version of the cart bag, and I was sometimes annoyed that I could only put 14 clubs in when I'd want to take a couple extras with me to try. I agree that the torsion strap and easy access ball pocket should have returned as key features.
