This was glorious! I absolutely Love the Golden Age of Comics as a whole, although I'm more of a Fan of most of their Silver Age counterparts more. We need an entire line of Golden Age/Earth 2 of the Original Comics.
so true
@@DCnez I want to know why Flash went to the time of the Nazis against the JSA and found those Heroes because there are no Heroes in the JSA, other groups or soloists that fought against the Nazis that are Air Wave, Alan Scott Green Lantern, Alan Scott Sentinel, Alan Scott Starheart , Alan Scott Parallax, Jim Corrigan Spectre, Jethro Dumont Green Lama, Scott Martin The Beacon, Clark Kent Kal-El Superman, Ultiman, Mighty Man, Shazam Captain Marvel, Langford Terrill Ray, Ted Grant Wildcat, Charles M McNider Doctor Mid-Nite , Dick Grayson the Robin, Dick Grayson Nightwing, Dick Grayson Batman, The Knight Watchman, Samuel Wilson Uncle Sam, Mack Snelling The Blitz, etc.
Agree
The best part about Earth 2 is that time mattered, character aged and even died - we even got to see Dick become Bruce's successor.
Yeah, but his combination Batman/Robin suit was hilarious.
You do realize we had a DickBats era. And without any really age-inappropriate sex.
Then again, we're going to see him be even more amazing if teasers for Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths mean anything.
@@jonbrewer297 Yes, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about Bruce straight up dying and Dick *really* succeeding as Gotham's guardian for life.
❤
I always love and prefer the idea of characters such as Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, Ted Grant, the JSA, and the All-Star Squadron being in the same earth/timeline with other characters such as Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, and the Justice League, as golden age heroes that fought in WW2 years before the formation of the justice league.
I'm actually rather fond of that idea to. It really helps to play the end of the whole "legacy" idea. Plus it gives writers the opportunity to have a little fun with actual history.
@@benjaminfeld6388 Indeed, I also love the idea of Hippolyta being the golden age Wonder Woman that worked alongside the JSA rather than Diana because it I think it gives more depth and reason why she is so skeptical and traumatized about man’s world
@@xanderg.1070 You mean besides the fact that she was sexually assaulted by Hercules? LOL
@@benjaminfeld6388 umm…I guess so lol
@@xanderg.1070 In all seriousness though you do bring up a very excellent point. And I do hold a great deal of respect for your opinion.
My favorite alternate dc universe by far. I hope this classic iterations of superheroes made it in to live action
I had always wondered what the deal was with the two Earths thing in DC back in the day. Now I know.
yep. That was my question, too. So I decided to research more about the Golden Age.
Love Pre-Crisis comics and Earth-Two especially. Shame Crisis couldn't hold off for another year or two so Roy Thomas could explore it some more. The later versions no matter how similar just didn't feel like these heroes I'd grown up, except for the occassional appearance here or there, like when the had Power Girl seemingly find it again with Ordway's great art. I had hoped that would lead to a series but I wonder how grim or slapstick and different that would've been, in keepinh with modern comic styles.
right
@@DCnez This Specter is part of Green Lantern as and because he was in JSA Spectro with a Green Lantern in the same team and why do you see these Green Guardian, Green Lantern, Sentinel, Starheart, Parallax, Green Lantern Corps, Spectre, Green Lama, Green Guardsman, The Beacon, etc together with the same green powers
I always loved the Earth-Two stories, either the JLA/JSA crossovers, or team-ups of the Flashes, Green Lanterns, Atoms and Superman. Not to mention the revived All-Star Comics. And as best I know, the only Earth-Two heroes not to meet their Earth-One counterparts are Batman, Aquaman and Hawkgirl.
Golden Age Batman died in Canon. Often been hinted that Vandal Savage killed Golden Age Hawkgirl.
@@bladestar2322 True, the Earth-Two Batman died in the late 70s-early 80s; but the Earth-Two Hawkgirl was still alive at the time of the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Earth 2 Hawkgirl had retired at that point.
@@Ozzy_2014 Shiera Hall made an appearance in the revived All-Star Comics, and she may have fought in the Crisis; but it's been awhile since I read it. But yeah, she was "retired" then.
I would like to see something about *The Crimson Avenger* , who - in some continuities - is even considered to be the first man to put on a mask and fight crime.
Post-Crisis, Wing is on the Seven Soldiers of Victory as well, since Green Arrow and Speedy died. Also, I don't remember if they're still immortal.
@@jonbrewer297 CRIMSON AVENGER WAS THE FIRST OF THE DC HEROES NOT SUPERMAN.
true
@@arthurtripp6922 Mark Waid made a comic called "irredeemable". I think you'd like the ending a lot.
I really hope that Earth-2 still exists in its original form somewhere in the DC Multiverse (Convergence supposedly re-established it, but it hasn't been seen or referenced since then).
It made a small cameo in infinite frontier
Convergence didn't reestablish it it reestablished the new 52 version of Earth 2 which was a joke which with all the homosexual characters and the completely different versions of these Golden age characters
@@BruceWayne-ri4wr I like how "all the homosexual characters" is your big gripe and not the futuristic setting (in contrast to the traditional postwar setting), the fact that Barbara Gordon exists at all (On Earth-2 originally the Gordons had a son named Tony.), the introduction of the Swamp Thing mythos to Earth-2 when modern Swamp Thing as a horror comic was new when Crisis on Infinite Earths happened, etc.
At the same time, I can't help but feel any Earth-2 where Robin doesn't bang Huntress is an improvement.
Any more of these pearls of wisdom for us? I'll help you: Early 90s DC sucks, and one of the Prester Jon units in the Team Titans nonsense is trans, but early 90s DC doesn't suck because that Prester Jon unit is trans. Understand?
@@jonbrewer297 all the homosexual characters is my biggest gripe but the futuristic setting is also one of my gripes and the fact that those characters were nothing like what they were supposed to be and now they've went back and retconned the most manly member of the Justice society Alan Scott into a Peter puffer and now I can never read that character again the man has children and everything and you turn him into a lifelong homosexual just to fit some agenda that nobody wants to follow or read about so yes I believe I'm right on this issue I don't want to hear about a flaming superhero that would take a penis in his ass that's not a superhero in my mind that's a sexual deviant
@@jonbrewer297 changing the sexuality is scrapping the creator's soul from their own creations. No one is capable of making a good lgbtq character from scratch. They just clone and alter existing successes.
Nothing beats the Sandman Mystery Theatre. Surely my favourite series ever. So … I look forward to seeing Wes and Dian. And then Mr Terrific, Terry Sloane. He was featured so rarely in the annual JLA/JSA crossover, even when he was killed at around the same time as the Golden Age Batman.
Looking forward to the Shining Knight and the Seven Soldiers of Victory.
He is on Part 2
me too
cool @@DCnez
I would hope that the other members of the JSA are in it. plus then a bio on the JSA. and also the SSV. Heck you could probably go to 5 of these if you just have every member alone of the all star squadron.
I loved the works of Roy Thomas on pre-crisis earth 2
I miss the JSA
me, too
Great job with the video i've been waiting for A video on the golden era of DC Characters.
I've been and always will be a fan of the JSA, JLA, and any and all crossover's I am a fan of all the JSA members, but Dr Fate in particular is way at the top of the list for me. Im hoping Warner/DC expands on his silver screen debut last year.
Id also love to see the entire JSA especially the Spectre on the silver screen. that would be incredible.
I'm so late! 😭😭😭 But loved it! 🥳
I love and miss the original earth 2 heros. I wish they'd bring them all back. Maybe in another infinite crisis and on a different earth. I'd really like to see the Golden age Superman, Batman and wonder woman.
I prefer golden age earth 2 than new 52 earth 2
DC: We're going to name Dick's son after his father.
Me: Sounds cool.
DC: And after Bruce's father.
Me: 🖥⌨⚙⚙⚙⚙⚙🧠💾🖨 His name is John T...🔪❤🔥🤬
yea me too
i love both the golden age and sliver age of dc comics they meant so much to me
me too
Ahh, Earth 2. I remember it well! Only liked the flash and green lantern.
Thank you so much 😊
Excellent history of the golden age super heroes. Or earth 2.. Golden guardian was one my favourite golden age hero's. Well done . Good show. Keep it up. 👍☺
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m loving these! As soneone who is trying to know everything DC this hits the right spot!
thank you
totally agree, Its amazing how Earth One and Earth Two started
My 'slightly fudged' Justice Society in Action Figures;
Golden Age Superman (Black Shield)
Golden Age Batman
Green Lantern (Scott)
Flash (Jay)
Golden Age Wonder Woman
Spectre
Wildcat
Dr. Midnight
Golden Age Atom
Sandman
Hourman
Golden Age Hawkman
Golden Age Hawkgirl
Dr. Fate
Black Canary
Original Starman
Earth 2 Robin
Power Girl
Huntress
Stargirl
Cyclone
Atom Smasher
Mr. Terrific
Jade
Commander Steel
Guardian
Uncle Sam
The Ray
Phantom Lady
Original Batwoman
Original Batgirl
I know, Uncle Sam, Phantom Lady, and the Ray were only members of the All Star Squadron and not technically members of the JSA. Guardian is a little shaky too. And the Original Batwoman and Batgirl are actually early Silver Age, but I have modern version in the League Reserve and I threw the Barbara, Cassandra, and Stephanie Batgirls into the Titans and Outsiders.
Sandman Wesley Dodges, Wonder Woman Diana Prince, and Fury Hilipalla "Lita" Trevor comes to mind. But it might be complicated because Fury is the second mother of Sandman/Dream Daniel Hal.
@Will N Thank you.
If you do that, then perhaps we discuss the reincarnation of Hector Hall who became Dr.Fate?
I'd love to see the original Black Canary
got it
Yeah, that story was so confusing, I preferred when they just said she came to Earth One after her husband died.
sooo coool!
Nothing is sacred to DC the last 12 years or so. Even Earth 2 has become a mockery of what it once was. I feel fully qualified and justified in my opinion! I started reading Comics in 1964 and I had access to my Uncle's Huge Collection, hundreds and hundreds of Comics from 1941 to 1964! Mostly DC, but some Timely, Independents, and early Marvel. So I knew the Justice Society early on. In addition, I was manager and eventually Owner of Comic Book Stores from 1984 to 2008! I think it's fair to say I have a LOT of Comic Book knowledge. What passes for Earth 2, and pretty much ALL DC, has been unrecognizable for over a Decade. The only thing I still do, is I still collect Action Figures and I now have a slightly fudged 31 member Justice Society as I recently added Atom Smasher and Original Golden Age Guardian.
And don't forget that there's also a earth where Justice League and Justice Society are both connected but the members of the Justice Society are dead and some retired
THANK YOU FOR THIS HISTORY. FELL IN LOVE WITH THE JSA THRUE JERRY G.BAILS AND COLLECTED THE ALL AMERICAN TITLES. MY PRIZE IS BIG ALL AMERICAN AND SOME OF JSA STORYS. THERE FLASH AND ALL AMERICAN COMICS ARE GREAT READING.
Yep. Sometimes it's really fascinating to read old comic books
Marvel / Timely comics superhero team was the All Winner Squad.
I always wondered why batman never showed up on earth 2 or on earth to jsa thanks for the info.
I think atheism for Starman is a silly ret-con. In the golden age he clearly had a belief in GOD like all those around the Spectre did. And I find that whole ret-conned pre-history for the Spectre a weird and unnecessary lead-in. Originally he's simply an Irish Catholic cop who is nearly a Saint at death, but still owes some penance which, because he was nearly in a state of grace, involves avenging himself. Mist JSA-ers were Irish Catholics
Green arrow would be awesome ! Btw thanks for your time on this ! I’m very interested in the golden age super heroes stories just not trying to read all of them yk?
I totally get it
Still these earth 2 characters are the best loved all star comics with its ever changing line up of characters but in the bronze age was a particular favourite when they bought back all star comics and introduced power girl and the batman's daughter huntress with return of old jsa villians like the thorn and sportsmaster this era definitely got ruined after first crisis and then the awful new 52
This was sweet 🎂
I have read DC all my life. And I have learned one thing, DC has many branches that can just consume you. JSA being one. You can just get absorbed. Between JSA, and Infinity Inc, and All Star Squadron, and Young All Stars, and The Solo books. It just goes on and on. I got obsessed with it, after realizing it is the true legacy of DC comics.
quite right
I love the Earth 2 Justice Society! I have built a 31 member Justice Society in Action Figures. Now, that's a lot of newer members, and 3 members of the Freedom Fighters who can count as they were members of the All Star Squadron.
Unfortunately, I only have a 20 member Injustice Society, only 2 of which, Icecicle and Solomon Grundy, were actual members, although some are actual Earth 2 characters. Golden Age Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Cheetah, etc.
nice
I think the recent Batman / Catwoman series was set in sone new version of Earth 2.
possibly
Cool video bro👌 what about Dc shield?

I love captain marvel Billy baston and the marvel family they are really awesome and badass.
I have them covered in Earth S as they are from Fawcett comics
@@DCnez ooh awesome man

@@DCnez your welcome and I remember that video it was really great.
I forgot they made WW the JSA's secretary 💀 bruh
Great summary, thank you!!
My pleasure!
No, He DOES Fly just years later. And he doesn't (at least not per Siegel) fly by "standing" in the air, but then Earth-1 also didn't until like later 1960-70s but by then Earth 2 Superman flew like that too
Also Earth 2 Superman HAD "kryptonite" in K-Metal story which was unused, which was Just fragment of his home planet because per Siegel Kryptonians were charged with powers by planet itself and were strong and fast and very tough even on Krypton, but because connection was severed the fragments of Krypton gained depowering properties for Superman AND they made ordinary Earthlings super strong.
But what Was released officially is story where Earth-2 Superman gets depowered and his powers physically roll back. And he could only jump high again. But then he physically trained and regained flight and other physical powers back.
HAWKMAN!!!
guns dont kill people , comic books do
Good n long please keep bacround music low
Thank you
Damn! Dick Greyson became Robin at eight years old!?! I guess Wayne Industries ignores the child labor laws!
Well in Earth 2 he did then Earth 1 made him 10 New Earth made him 12/13 New 52 made him 14-16 Rebirth made back to 12/13 dc is very confusing sometimes
true
@Will N Earth 2 Robin was never a Teen Titan. Teen Titans are Earth 1. The 2 Robins fort met in a JLA/JSA crossover, Earth 1 Robin sporting a (Neal Adams designed) Robin onesie that the Earth 2 Robin would take on in the 70s after running around in a Batman/Robin composite suit in the 60s. Of course DC messed up the whole Earth 1/Earth 2 thing in their endless senseless reboots that are no more exciting than including chocolate sprinkle on a cone ice cream.
@Will N Excellent
I do wish that you would have stuck with pre crisis on infinite earths backgrounds as you are talking about the golden age.
Hi Jay. Most of the golden age (pre-crisis) backgrounds of some dc characters were carried over / continued to New Earth. I understand that it is quite confusing but that's what we have.
Give me Johnny Thunder!
this is totally 💋❣💕💞💗outstanding
If you don't mind me asking, what makes you think that the stories of the Golden age won't work today. I mean, I like them, most of them anyway. And sure they might be tough for some adults to swallow. But I'm sure kids would still of them.
I will argue the All-Star Squadron need to be on the list. Johnny Quick ( Chambers) and Liberty Bell ( Libby Lawrence) parents to Jessie Chambers ( Jessie Quick/Liberty Bell II) back again as Jessie Quick. Married to Hourman's son the new Hourman. Not including the android from the 853rd Century.
I will put them on part 3
What do Earth Two Mormon missionaries look like?
possibly the same way they looked in the 1950s
GA Superman could fly.
I want to know what comic book that is at 19:47.
Batman Vol 1 no. 32 (December 1945)
It can’t be that. The artwork looked like it was well into the Bronze Age. It was the one of Earth Two Robin, and it took up most of the page.
Are you going to make a video about Earth 3 Crime Syndicate & the Heroes of that Earth.
Also i remember a comic where Supergirl beat up a Thanos lookalike character, is there an Earth where the characters resemble Marvel Characters ?
earth 3 is on my list. Thanks
@@DCnez Cool , Owlman is one of my favourite characters
I'm the original superman. I was the first to create the original comic book. The first ever comic book sold in the history of all of our Earths/ multiverses was made by me aka Superman. DC comics. I've created each hero seldom. Batman, flash, Wonder woman, green lantern, Martian man Hunter, hawkman. I am the original version of each character included Wonder woman. Yes I was trans before and had all of my superman abilities. Batman being my last character and most successful and I believe longest time spent development of my own persona as Bruce Wayne. I'm telling you the truth.
If Green Lantern is affected by wood. How does he phase through a wooden wall. Makes no sense 😕
no idea
Do damage
Is Damage from the Golden Age?
Is their a earth 1 or did it all start on earth 2?
The Golden Age came first but they were designated as Earth 2 when the publishers realized they can create an alternate realities.
@@DCnez Indeed. The designation never made sense to me (or most others, I suspect). I always thought the world where the heroes appeared first should have been designated as "Earth 1." That didn't keep me from enjoying the superb "Earth 2" stories of the 70s, however, especially "All Star Comics" with Wally Wood's art.
Thanks im new at this and just trying to understand it all. At times it can be overwhelming.
Your channel rocks bro.
I appreciate that! Thank you

Awesome. How do you organize your collection?
@@DCnez I don’t have it anymore but I did have all the age of apocalypse and the reboot afterwords. I got rid of all my stuff years ago because I got poor several times and had to restart.
"May have contributed to juvenile delinquency"? No, every claim of "Seduction Of The Innocent" the book by Fredric Wertham which began the anti-comics fervor, have been proven to be false and unfounded. It has no more validity than the current claim that videogames cause juvenile delinquency. The facts are that every generation has a percentage of kids who act out and a percentage of adults who think that it is unique to their generation and come up with ridiculous theories to justify it.
cool. good insight
The original green lantern story is so hilarious because it seems so racist for some reason
quite right
Hawkman is cringe

Its only on your videos.
Put regular ads in, but the pop up ads suck!
I understand, I'll see what I can do. However, the DC multiverse topic has a very niche market segment. Profits are not easy.
