    Thanks so much for this video, going to start mine soon, was wondering should in get the textbooks physically or kindle?? I like the way you do your ipad, and I’m planning to do so, but how you do the books and this notes with pictures you did them or was your professor pdf?? Thanks

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  3 года назад

      It totally depends on the class for me! For some classes I prefer a physical textbook and for other classes I put the textbook PDF onto my iPad! I do not have a kindle. It really just depends on your preference.
      I use the app Notability on my iPad and download the PDF of the PowerPoint presentations into the app to take notes on it! You can do this with textbook PDFs too!

    Thank you for the video. I want to ask did you have to take GRE test to apply for PA program? How did you prepare for it; what material you studied?
    How competitive is it to get to PA school?
    I need to shadow a PA or MD for my application. How do I get the experience? Any specific places where they allow students to shadow?
    What are chances with 3.4 gpa?
    Thank you!

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  3 года назад

      Hello! Sorry for the delay getting back to you, I was finishing up finals!
      I did have to take the GRE for PA school but some schools do not require it! I will be making a video on RUclips soon about how I studied for the GRE but if you’d like more information now you can DM me on Instagram @myway_topa and I can send you a post I already did explaining all about the materials I used for the GRE and how I studied!
      It is on the more competitive side to get into PA school, it definitely takes some work but if you want it you can get in with a little bit of hard work!
      I also posted a video on RUclips about how I found a PA to shadow: ruclips.net/video/_joGo2AaW3g/видео.html
      The minimum GPA at most programs is a 3.0 so a 3.4 GPA should allow you to get into a PA program!

    I just started using Notability. I was wondering what is the best way to import pictures like you do? I really like the format of yours! Do you just copy and paste the slide show into the app?

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  4 года назад +1

      So I just add a powerpoint or document directly into notability! I will open a new file on notability then go on canvas or wherever the presentation is and click the share button. Then I click on the notability icon and import it in! If this was confusing you can dm me on Instagram and I can send you a video how!

    PA sounds really exciting, I’m actually finishing up my MA program and looking to do nursing next. Not sure if I want to be a PA or a NP . How did you decide PA?

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  3 года назад +2

      So personally a couple things come to mind!
      1. PAs can switch specialties without any additional school! I’m super indecisive so I love the idea of being able to easily switch between specialties if I realize one isn’t the right fit for me or if I just want to explore other options!
      2. I didn’t personally want to go to nursing school then to NP school! I wanted to get my bachelors degree then go straight to PA school! (Just a personal preference).
      Both are such amazing career options! It really just depends on what you are looking for.☺️
      (PS I think I just answered you on IG but wanted to make sure I got back to you here too😂)

    How have you been liking the online structure of the classes? Do you think that some of your classes for the fall may transition to an online format for convenience? Or is your program admit on getting students back into a classroom setting? Thank you in advance, and thank you for sharing your day!

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  4 года назад +1

      Honestly I have been liking online classes! It’s very convenient rolling out of bed and heading to class. And I can get a lot more done throughout the day like moving my laundry over between classes. Also I love being able to go back and what the lectures since they are recorded... As for the fall, they are not sure what the semester will look like yet. I live in Florida which has lots of covid cases right now so it looks like we will be mostly online again besides meeting in small groups in person for physical diagnosis (this is a hands on class). I think they will make all classes in person again once it is safe to do so.

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  4 года назад

      Great question! I actually am not sure but I think if you have your bachelors degree one way or another it should be fine! I would definitely confirm that with whatever PA program you are interested in by calling or emailing them!

  • @johnguillen68
    @johnguillen68 3 года назад

    Do you have to move close to campus once you're allowed to attend class physically? or do are you going to live where you are the whole time you're in PA school? I'm trying to get into PA school right now but I'm worried because my GPA is low and it won't grab the attention of those who look at your application. So I'm hoping to score high on my GRE so that maybe they can possibly give me a chance.

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  3 года назад +1

      Yes I actually just moved in with my parents for the summer semester since they live near my campus since we are back in person now!!
      And as long as you meet the minimum GPA requirement or apply to a program without a GPA requirement it’s okay!! They are looking for well rounded applicants so if you can shine in another area like patient care experience, volunteering, leadership, GRE, etc then you definitely still have a chance☺️ don’t get discouraged!
      And if for some reason you find you need to boost your GPA, you can always take some extra few classes and really focus on them to do well and increase your GPA!

    • @johnguillen68
      @johnguillen68 3 года назад

    Is a bachelors in psychology good for getting into PA school?

    • @jennalarsen4580
      @jennalarsen4580 4 года назад

      I think the biggest part of any major is making sure you have your pre-req courses for applying to PA School. Based on what I’ve read, every school is different:) I was honestly thinking Psychology myself!

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  4 года назад +1

      Yes! Jenna nailed that answer! As long as you have all of the pre-req courses done and a school doesn’t specifically ask for a certain major (I’ve never heard of a program doing that), you can major in anything! So if psychology makes you happy then go for it! You may just need to take some additional classes☺️

    • @PASCourtney
      @PASCourtney  3 года назад

      @@Kat-zr4vf It is hard for me to say with complete confidence because it depends on the school, the person, and I have not attended nursing school before. However, I would say physician assistant school its probably more challenging. It is harder to get accepted into PA school and requires you to gain patient care experience, a bachelors degree, and more before you can apply. The first year of PA school (didactic year) is a lot of material at a very quick pace. It is challenging but if you put your mind to it you can do it!
