This can be a minimum of 30 days in jail following a likely fine from the staff and could also result in a higley likely ban from either the mall or the establishment located in the mall. I finally found one that I can agree with. Just one day for her sister and she acted all hurt just because the wedding time doesn't fit her timeline, like everyone has to adjust for her. I say no jerk. She said she comes later but not at 10am. So if i now my sister has sleeping problems and says she comes later that would be fine by me. I woulden't turn in to a Karen and get angry at someone for a medical condition. It's not my health, not my body and so it's not my decision. As for the laughing, i can understand that. When people that now i have sleeping problems ask me to come at a time where i'm usualy sleeping i laugh at them too and say "nope not happening, i will try to be there at xyz but earlyer is not doable". Also everyone is different, if you can deal with less sleep better than others don't expect others to deal as good as you do. It's like alcohol, just cause i can drink a bottle of Rum and i'm fine it doesen't mean others don't lie under the table after a half bottle. Maybe a bad comparision but i think people get what i mean. For me i'm rather without drinking/eating for a few day's than 1 day without sleeping.

The last one is the only one I disagree with people with insomnia can pass out if they don't stick to their schedule that works for them if she ended up passing out in the middle of her sister's wedding, then that would ruin the wedding anyway I don't know if hers is that extreme, but that would be a reason for her, not to 10, it is also very difficult for people with insomnia to even wake up in the first place insomnia is not just a difficulty falling asleep, it is a difficulty of sleep in general, waking up or falling asleep are both very difficult for people with insomnia sorry if this seems repetitive. I tend to repeat what I say quite a lot I did not mean to nor intend to.

Of course she could have atended to the weding at cost of her own health but why should she. Her sister now's she has insomnia so it's more like a Karen thing to get angry at a person with a medical condition that forces her to sleep over day and not night. Also she didn't say she doesen't want to atend the weding at all but just not at morning. A normal person would have said "I'm sad about that and would wish me you come at 10am but i respect your desicion and happy you come at least for the rest of the day" in my opinion.

Last Story: OP not the jerk. People have different sleeping schedules, your body decides when to sleep on its own. Like, even if I decided to sleep at an earlier time, I can't because I just can't sleep. People really be forgetting how bad insomnia is for other people, OP tried to compromise saying that she'll just attend the wedding later but the sister refused. If your sister isn't willing to compromise then it isn't really worth it. Even if it's the OP's sister's wedding, it's Op's decision whether she wants to go to the wedding or not. Again, she tried to compromise but the sister isn't willing to accept it.

Ive had many broken limbs and none of it hurt more than that insomniac Period. It started off as a mild discomfort with headache, and quickly turned into torture. It was agony. People need to become more informed that insomnia isnt just "oh you have to lie down longer to start sleeping" imagine youre hungry, but physically incapable of eating, eben tho you have the food right in front of you. imagine being thirsty but being physically incapable of drinking, even tho you have the water. Not only the physical Problems that it comes with. The mental Problems as well i actually started hallucinating due to lack of sleep. Ive never done drugs, but from what ive heard people say, happens during a bad trip, i can relate through these sleep depravation hallucinations.

Wow i didn't think i ever get to talk with people that have insomnia. I have it since about i was 15-16 and it's hell. Back when i was young (19-20) i needed to work early shift stay up 4am and come home at 2pm, i usualy got to bed at 5pm and sleept deeply straight till 4am. i needed it, if i didn't sleep that long my brain didn't function next day till at least 9am at work. And i needed a functioning brain for programming machins to mill and drill etc. I got pill's and stuff to "fix" it but nothing worked, my default sleeping time is from 4-6am to 2pm. I was in rehab. clinic for depressions that also got worse by not sleeping and they had fixed times when you needed to wake up, at 6:30am. So i was there for 4 week's and sleept about 4-5h a day. The day i came home i sleept for 24h straight. Not being able to sleep is torture. I rather would live without water/food than without sleep

The story of the evil aunt and all of that remind me of a story that happened not to long ago. Unfortunately it’s a second hand story that my grandfather has told me.
Basically, my grandparents live now at the city, but my grandpa is from a small town where his sister, nephews and nieces still live, and the thing is, that him, being the only boy between three siblings got the family house (his sister got her aunt’s house and I don’t really know about the other sister). My grandpa used to go to the town almost every two months and spend a week there, as he also has some terrains with olive-trees and has a deal with an olive-oil maker in the area, so basically, he used to go pretty often. But now he doesn’t drive anymore, and only goes with a family friend and spend less time there, so when he arrives he wants to have the house prepared so he won’t have time to clean it up and all of that. Usually he hires someone to go and clean it up, but the last time something happened.
It looks like the lady that went there smoked and in some way set in fire the first floor of the house (for context, the house was made entirely of wood). The firefighters managed to put out the fire but the damage was already done. Then my grandfather asked his sister if she knew anyone in the town who he could hire to repair it, and she said that there was only one person in the entire town who was in any way qualified to do it, as he was the only builder(? there.
So my grandpa contacted him and it looked like he was a really good friend of my grandfather’s nephew and that he was willing to do it.
The next thing my grandfather knew was that, yeah, the damage was repaired, but some old furniture disappeared. He was angry but thought that maybe it was damaged and couldn’t be saved, so let it be.
When he went again more furniture had disappeared and in that moment he went mad.
He asked his sister about it, but she didn’t knew anything and told him to talk to her son because he was the one with his spare keys.
I don’t really know what my uncle said to my grandpa, but he was not happy. He told my uncle to never let his friend close to his (my grandfather’s) house again and return to the city.
He has gone there many times since then and all seemed okay, but last time he went my great grandmother’s centennial rocking chair disappeared.
He went to his sister again and told her that his excuse of a son and his friend have been robbing his family’s legacy. My grand aunt(? was angry with my uncle but also tried to explain that he was going through a really bad divorce and he was not in the mental condition to be confronted for it. Then my grandpa returned to the city and hasn’t gone again there. He has changed the locks and only him and his child have the keys.
That’s basically where it ends and it makes me so mad that he didn’t do anything about it, but when I told him he just said that the guy had robbed to half of the town and that the cops have not done anything towards it and that he doesn’t want to get into any mess. He also said that as it is now, he has no nephew and that he prefers to not talk to him or even see his face for the rest of his live. I’m so frustrated about it and I wish that I could do anything, but I’m just a kid and I don’t have nothing to do with that problem

Story 1: People like this make me wish we'd here about an officer going overboard and the Karen getting handcuffed or tasered or something. Also, i dont know about where the OP is (england), but i know here (canada) at times, some security companies not only employ off-duty police but also have as much rights to detain someone as a police officer does. I dont know why so many people think that the "rent-a-cops" can't do anything about them.
Story 2: OP isn't a jerk at all....but that Karen sure was. Don't wanna share... then you get nothing. Cranky old snag.
Story 3: OP is not a jerk.. i wouldve gone further if i couldve. The aunt and cousin are among the highest levels of jerks. I feel bad that they couldn't get the necklace back. I would've told the pawn store that it was a stolen item... and maybe they could've tracked it down that way.
Story 4: OP isn't a jerk... although could be a jerk move in some cases..... but the mom-in-law is a snooping jerk, and the husband is a jerk on a level too by snapping at the OP. The mom-in-law was busted, wake up bro.
Story 5: I think that there's something not being told here, whether its relevant to this story or not. If the sister is getting that mad at the OP here, there's something else to it, other then just 'insomnia'. I think the OP could try to work around the schedule, but shouldn't really be required to go to anything other the the ceremony if they dont want to.

it wouldnt be possible at all to just "rough it out" dude, shes going to bed at 7 or 8am and the wedding starts at around 10 with the ceremony at noon (12), no one is ever going to go to an event with only 2 hours of sleep and expect to survive the day without passing out or hurting themselves, her not going is better than actually going at all at that point because she'll just be tired and passing out and the way these people act about her i wouldnt be surprised if they would start gossiping and acting like her "passing out" is just trying to get attention and take away from her sisters big day
so arriving to the afterparty was reasonable as she wouldve actually ya know had plenty of sleep at that point? but even ariving earlier is impossible because again not enough sleep, if she arrived for the ceremony at minimum thats 3 to 3 1/2 hours of sleep which isnt much better

Insomnia is no joke and if OP is properly diagnosed and is dealing with this since the age of 15, sister should know this and work around it by having a late breakfast or a brunch at 12. But it sounds like sister doesn't want OP there and is using this as an excuse.

@@shubhamkaushik9644 OP didn't ask her sister to change the times. BUT! if it's one of the more intense versions of insomnia where OP could literally (for example) pass out and faceplant to the ground out of nowhere or faceplant onto a fork in the middle of eating without the proper amount of sleep then sister is the jerk because she's risking her siblings safety just because she doesn't want to compromise. Just because sister is getting married doesn't mean that everyone is suddenly her slave and it's her way or the highway.

OP was definitely a jerk. I went to my brother's wedding at a city that's 3 hours away, while working night shifts and having a single night off to attend to it.
On top of that, I have sleeping problems (though not as bad as OP's insomnia) and I was fresh out of a relationship (my ex had broken up only 3 days prior to the wedding)
So I was sad, depressed and tired, and yet, I happily bought some train tickets to go to where he lives, because I knew it would mean the world to him to see his entire family (me, our parents, our half-sister) to his wedding. This was HIS big moment, and I felt he deserved to be hapoy, even if it meant that I would be even more tired than I usually am.

I actually can understand both sides tho in the story. Yes the op should go but there might be a reason for them not wanting to go, they never really explained the relationship between there sister and them. Yes its the sisters big day but for some waking up at that time would be near impossible, then as the narrator said staying awake all night just to do so if iffy for me. The op already has a bad sleeping schedule so staying up all day will make it worse for them. People say family comes first no that is a lie the only one to come first in your life is yourself. No one else in this world will make the same prints in the sand you do. Staying up for a long period of time is bad for health and the mind set. It might be a family members big day and they tried to compromise with the sister to at least show up. Family is important but taking care of yourself is more important in the end. It's not always that simple I understand where op is coming from as I also suffer from extreme sleep issues growing up I was forced to suck it up and attend gatherings. Trying to drastically alter a barely functional and unhealthy sleep cycle in that way does more then cause you to feel more tired than usual it leaves you in an almost delirious state throughout the day.
If you struggle with other mental issues like social anxiety or depression they can become heightened extremely by a shift in sleep schedule making something like a wedding or social gathering is almost crippling to attend.
As an adult the last time I had a social gathering to attend I needed to book a week off work so I could have adequate time to adjust to the lack of sleep and be able to catch up on sleep so I can return to work capable of working. Not everyone can do that so I can understand the difficulty op could be facing where while they likely want to attend they can't mentally justify doing so and risking impacting their job performance as I know it's not easy to find a good job that fits within a abnormal sleep schedule.

The only thing I will disagree with is the idea that people working 9-5 would be willing to get up and go at 2am to events. I often work that myself on the weekends (my shifts start at 5pm, and end anywhere from 11:30 to 1:30, depending on the customers, how busy we were, and other factors). My family will then make plans to go out anywhere from 8-10am for a trip out of town, or to go get breakfast/brunch. I want to go to those, but it’s rare I actually get to because I’m incapable of waking up on time, getting ready so esrly, or sometimes am in pain still from my job.
