What you don't know is what they will be like in the future, but you have the ability to raise them to be the best person they can be.

So there were a few more updates recently. Long story short:
Sara was arrested and was considered mentally unwell. She attempted to break into the OP's house with an axe.
Jake did move away. OP tried to say goodbye and went to his apartment, but it ended in arguing through the front door and the cops were called on the OP after Jake said he attempted to break into his apartment, but was dismissed since a neighbor could overhear everything and CCTV. Apparently a lot of people knew this story in the OP's town to the point the cops knew about it before they arrived.

Sounds like neither the son nor ex-fiance is even mature enough to get married in the first place. If she's going to throw a tantrum over property that's not even hers; and the son has to steal it to get what she wants; sounds like both of them have a lot of growing up to do. If he has to commit a felony in order to be with her; she was never the one for him. Also, if Jake didn't even have enough money to buy her a ring in the first place; what makes him think he could be able to afford a wedding? Or a family, if they started one? If the ex wants all this expensive stuff; you know she is going to want some lavish wedding too. He just dodge a big one and should be thankful.

I had some kind of the opposite story. A couple years before my mother passed away she took all her gold pieces, rings, earrings and medals, and sold them in exchange for a couple of diamond earrings, really beautiful. Crafted by a jeweler friend. I'm an only son, so she told me than after her dead those earrings will be for my future wife. Months after her dead I went to a friends wedding with my girlfriend. I told her that those earrings would look amazing on her in the wedding. She totally refused, to the point to tell me that she will never wear it. Those earrings are yours, she told me. I she would never take the chance of losing one bc that would really hurt you. I didn't argue back, bc I saw that posibilily and really scared me. Apologies for my English.

WOW! To that first story. The son is a beta to the 5th power. The fact that the son is willing to destroy his relationship with his family over a female who is clearly not worth the time of day. I doubt that I would have been able to not lay hands on both of them in that jewelry store.
Years ago I bought my mother a diamond and sapphire for her Mother's Day and her b-day. When my mother passed I made sure to hold on to that ring. It may not mean much to others but to me is was one of those gifts that meant a lot to be able to give my mom a ring that she loved and wore to her last breath.

I have an extensive collection of jewelry, most of which I inherited from my grandmother, and I have a firm rule that anything valued over 20k goes in our vault, and anything over 50k goes in the safety deposit box. Items under 20k are placed in the safe and/or my jewelry box for cheap costume jewelry. Never leave expensive jewelry out and accessible. Not just because of burglaries, but you never know with friends and family sadly. It is best to keep potential temptation out of sight.

Excluding the stealing, Jake sounds a lot like my brother and his girlfriend. Him and my mom ended up getting into a ton of fights because of what his gf was doing. The 2 ended up moving out because of it to end the fighting. The only difference is my brother is probably slightly more calm than this Jake character. I hated hearing them fight because my mom always fought with my dad before he moved out. I understand she just wants what's best for her family but her, my dad, and my brother all have different mindsets as well as myself. Their are times where I wish I was never apart of this family but other times where I'm glad I am, but I admit I'm not a big fan of my family as it is and especially during these days.

My grandpa was a multimillionaire when he and my grandma married. Her wedding ring cost my grandpa well over $10K in the 1930s.
It was Platinum Gold with many diamonds around the ring and a 3 karat Diamond-as the center store.
Throughout their marriage she took it to the same jeweler for cleaning and maintenance.
After the jeweler had died she took it to another jeweler for maintenance and to have an appraisal for insurance purposes.
The previous jeweler had a replica made in white gold and artificial stones put in. It was worth about $1K afterwards.
    My grandma was heartbroken.
Upon her death my cousin swooped in and stole ALL of her expensive jewelry before my sister or my other cousin could decide which pieces they wanted to keep. My cousin Eddie Garner had only left the $1K wedding ring and the costume jewelry behind.
He denied everything yet all his financial problems were suddenly over.
My grandma had purposefully written him out of the estate prior to her death, so he wasn’t entitled to anything.
Upon her death each of us 3 grandchildren were given an $800K trust fund, yet my greedy dad (the executer of her estate) blew the entire estate in less than 4 years.
    Thanks dad !

had a similar situation. my grandma passed away, leaving my grandfather as her next of kin and executor of her estate. basically, anything not explicitly stated to be for a specific person was up to him to decide. furthermore, if someone gave a valid reason to break the will, my grandpa could do so at his choosing. my uncle ended up stealing my grandma's entire jewelry box. probably about $3-5k worth. the box and its contents were intended for my mother. so, my grandpa flatout said "fine. you want the jewelry, you can have it. so the $7k you were supposed to get can go to her instead. my uncle pitched a fit, saying that the money was supposed to be his. grandpa said "well the box wasn't, and you chose that instead. return it, and the money is yours. uncle, a freaking 48 year old man literally threw himself on the ground, kicking and screaming because it "wasn't fair" as he had already sold the box and everything it in for only $500.
and what did he spend it on? beer. the dude is an alcoholic, to the point of going through a 32pk of bud light in a day. maybe a day and a half if he sleeps late. and yes, my uncle was always the golden boy because, and this is where it gets complex... my grandpa is my grandma's second husband. her first died a year out of the service when his car went over a bridge. my uncle and my mom are the only two of her kids that came from her first husband. and uncle is a nearly identical copy of him. or he was, until he grew the beer gut. my mom, on the other hand, was anything but the golden child, because my grandma didn't even know she was pregnant until 4 months after her husband died. 3 months of drinking herself into a stupor to numb the pain every day after work, which stopped the moment she learned she was pregnant.

It's just so selfish to keep a ring even if you know your boyfriend stole it from his DEAD MOTHER AND SISTER (and sort of dad if you think about it)

5:53 so per her logic, I really like the Minecraft Forest Village mapart, so I should take the server password and not give it to anyone else because I like it.

Jake needs to think with a different head. His EX needs a lobotomy. I wish all the best for OP, his daughter and the whole town.

If anyone has seen the Hobbit. Does anyone know for sure if the grandfather (or mother) wasn't a dragon? It sounds as if neither the son or girlfriend were bad people until shortly before the story, and the amount of greed and drama centered around the family jewels and this one specific ring reminds me of dragon sickness... either way this whole ordeal is just sad

You can raise a good kid, but good kids can go bad. You should raise a kid that's not gullible, and they'll be less likely to fall for that gold-digger crap

Op you NEED to setup the safety deposit box so your daughter can get in it if anything happens to you. That is just a susgestion. Your son may come around and see of HIS bad behavior, or he is going to stay a BUTTHOLE.

On the story on the ring again, your son's girlfriend is a GOLD DIGGER 100%, if they had gotten together, she would leave him as soon as she found a rich, and will keep climbing the rich ladder, she doesn't care of the men, just the Money and Things.
