Yeah, honestly, when I heard what happened to the OP, I feel like I wanted to put the Karen in the hospital, just so she can experience being disabled for a while and see from their perspective how other people treat her. Honestly, that is just disgusting and she should be ashamed of herself for claiming that the OP was just faking his/her disability. Even if the OP did managed to hit her, that would do nothing to make her stop. 😡😡😡😡😡

I cried when I heard the first story.
I've been there early on in my disability, I fell from a shower, broke my neck and spine, have permanent spinal cord damage, need a cane or wheelchair.
I've had people get in my face about faking, being lazy etc.
The ones that encourage their kids kids to be rude or kick one of my canes is what I really can't understand at all.
I also despise those who talk slowly to me like having canes decreased my IQ by 50 points or those who speak louder like I'm hard of hearing.
People can be nasty, especially when it's something they don't understand or see.
Now with the pandemic I have a good reason to avoid everyone 🙂

I am so sorry that happened to you... I am actually recovering from a disease called GBS, and it paralyzed me for a while, people called me an attention seeker, pathetic, crybaby, ect. But I'm healing and hopefully things get better for you too! 😄
First story: Someone, particularly the bus driver, should have called the police and had the Karen arrested, regardless of what OP wanted!
That's not really how that works - it's assault, yes, but the person being assaulted always gets to choose whether to charge the person or not.
If someone pushed you down and you just wanted to move on, would you really want to have someone push on with the charge despite you? As the victim, you'd likely have to show up in court. Being pushed into something like that against your will? I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

@@gabrielfreire3732 I would agree that maybe time should have been taken first, to determine what should have been done. And yeah, our police system (and justice system in general) sucks. However, I'd also point out that our medical systems also tend to suck, and all of these suck even more for disabled people/people with disabilities. Police and doctors both mistreat them in different ways, and for someone already so panicked, it is not ideal to put them in such a situation. After all, the time spent waiting will be spent with another person. Who would the other person be? The bus driver has to move on, and the nearest person would likely be the very woman who started the issue in the first place.
I'm not sure what it's like in Brazil, but am I correct to suggest that hospitals are similarly profit-motivated as the US's hospitals are? While most here have a way to get financial assistance, you have to know what to ask for, which can be difficult.
Also, considering the op said they were on the spectrum, that makes their reaction make a lot more sense. From what I can tell, people on the spectrum have a hard time reacting to problems and will often resort to cowering if it's too stressful. (I'm sorry if I'm wrong about this. This is just my takeaway from being around autistic people)

This first story was a killer for me. I am disgusted and horrified that anyone can be this terrible to another human. I can't express how awful that seemed to me.

First story: OP might want to see a neurologist. My mother had minor headaches and semi major back problems. She went to several doctors, but no-one could figure out what was wrong. One day a friend told her to see a neurologist. Less than 5 minutes into the visit, the doctor ordered an immediate MRI. It turned out she had a tumor at the base of her pituitary gland that was also pressing on her spinal nerve.
About the story one, as a disabled person myself with a "invisible" disorder, those things are so common, it makes me mad everytime I see a Karen like this. I feel so bad about op
Regarding story number 1, I can really relate. I have numerous disabilities, all of them hidden. Roto Scoliosis, osteoporosis, COPD, asthma, PAD... you get the idea. I have had this happen to me. Frankly, it gets old. Sometimes my back hurts so much I can barely move. People constantly give me the side eye when I use the electric shopping carts. Probably because I am a whopping 80 pounds. People just be kind. About story 4, run!
I'm more likely to give the side eye to a 500 pound sad sack than an 80 pound nothing.
Story 3- You need to tell him “either you stop trying to controlling me & stop gaslighting me or I’m gonna need some space away from you to figure this out”. Ask your self, is this the type of behavior your gonna be able handle for the rest of your life? I would also tell him “after 9 months with my therapist, we have discussed if I have a drinking problem & we have came to the conclusion that I am NOT an alcoholic. So I will be having a drink when I want one. I am 21 years old and I can make my own choices. If you don’t like who I am & me making my OWN choices, then there’s the door”.

Fucking agreed. A partner should never control their partner's choices unless absolutely needed to prevent physical harm to themselves or others (IE drunk driving or something akin to that) but the OP isn't an alcoholic, and the parntner sounds like a narrasistic control freak

For the 3rd story: he's 100% trying to isolate her by using the excuse of her having a problem with alcohol to keep her from going out without him, seing her family and socializing in general. Alcohol is only an excuse, a way for him to justify controling her life like that, and a threat that if she tries to argue he'll tell everyone that she's an alcoholic, which would most likely isolate her even more. I hope she finds a solution and leave him because he's definitely a walking red flag.

Third story. Try and ask your partner why he is so obsessed with your drinking, was he in previous relationship in which he had alcoholic partner ? Was a family member of his an alcoholic ? If yes then maybe you two should go to couples counseling and help him get over whatever fear he has. If not then how about a compromise if he has any vices then he should give one of them up since you are giving up your joy of drinking. If all of that doesn't work then you should leave him and get your freedom of choice back also if he makes any false claims about you on social media threaten to sue him if he does.

For number 3. It’s blackmail, threatening to say something if you don’t do stuff for him is blackmail and blackmail is a horrific situation.
As a young ish person who needs a cane I can unfortunatly say that it happens to often.
I'm nearly 70 and it has happened to me when groceries shopping. No elec chair, just came, walked to nearby shop, no disability parking etc.
Why didn't OP press charges? If it had been me I not only would I had let them call the police & press charges but I would've made sure she got prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
Neurodiverse people may not always be able to make the right decision in those circumstances. They did what they needed to, which was focus on themselves during an incredibly stressful and terrifying situation. Dealing with the Karen would be understandably impossible to deal with on top of that.
The physical pain they had was barely manageable, and the BS Karen pulled was the tipping point.
For the bus story, you could tell he was not faking the disability after he fell to the floor and did not get himself up. And he probably had a worrying look on his face when the Karen threw his cane across the bus.
I don't understand why the other people in the buss only helped AFTER OP got kicked by the Karen and AFTER she threw away the cane and let OP fall cuz of trying to retrieve the cane. Someone else could've offered their place long before it escalated, or jumped in between before it escalated. Aren't people protective of people with canes (or other disabilities) at all?
Plenty of people on buses try to ignore the loud obnoxious karens, praying they will shut up and let the bus continue already. People on the bus probably only really paid attention to what was going on when the cane was throne, then only able to react or even get to the Karen when she screamed and kicked which probably took less than a second. OP was in a lot of pain and recounting a story so it probably felt like slow motion to OP while the other passengers it was only a handful of seconds. But typically people in the US (idk if OP is in the US) just stay to themselves with headphones. It would be better if we didn’t need to protect people with disabilities from Karens like this
I've been there. Bad back since the age of 19, four major spinal surgeries, years of rehab and finally a permanent disability. For years, I used public transportation to get to and from work and needed the disability seat. I use a cane as well but the stares I get from disapproving people was shocking. The worst was when people who felt they were entitled to the seat I was already sitting in so I totally get it. I've had the do-gooders intervene and tell me a gentleman would give up his seat for a senior r a pregnant woman. Were I Abe to stand for the nearly one hour I was on the train, I would have, but I wasn't and had to explain that time and time again informing them that not all disabilities are visible.

that first story I can relate. as someone with MS, most people think that there nothing wrong with me. they think I'm faking but only I know how I feel. I'm sorry for the OP and what they went through.
re: the "I'm not an alcoholic" basically he grew up and matured and wants a healthy lifestyle while you've stagnated.
I have an invisible disability called POTs (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and people always say it doesn’t exist so 💀 i feel super bad for OP in first story, that sucks. Hope Karen had some repercussions
I don’t know, having dealt with alcoholics and narcissists, I could see how the alcoholic could easily twist things just like this. So yikes. Addictions are a whole different ball field. Be careful the advice you give.
First story: that driver is an incredible person. And also the passengers are also pretty awesome.
I myself am disabled, and I am fourteen years old so when that Karen said "You're too young to have any serious issues like that" I was stirred up into absolute anger. I have a hard time writing and so my school mandates that my teachers let me type my essays, but my History teacher last year made me write my essays with my pencil and when I requested a copy of my Disabled Student Contract I was not given one, so I could not show it to my teacher. Another time, I actually failed an english class because I was on painkillers but that teacher was too stubborn do realize that I was learning even though I didn't have the mental capacity to write her monthly essays. Since then, to prevent people from being jerks, I have developed an INCREDIBLY THREATENING demeanor as well as begun to wear my medical equipment outside my clothes to ensure that I am respected by some and feared by the rest. I have also made sure to learn what the teachers aren't allowed to do and so I *mostly* have rights as a disabled person now. When I am in public, I generally try to amp up my threatening demeanor as much as I can to try to stay out of the OP's situation. If I were, though, I would've called the cops. Screw that Karen. (Controversial Opinion Time) I honestly believe world would be a better place if everyone had to experience trauma, so we could all have empathy and respect.
ugh...first story...ive had so damned much...thankfully the physical attacking has stopped...but not the verbal ones...people seem to think that im young that having extreme scoliosis doesnt qualify as a disability...even when they find out ive had 2 spinal surgeries AND it nearly killed me when i was young via heart and lung compression...which prompted my first surgery...or that walking around with a permenant cracked spine and having to use a cane at 37...having had to use it since i was 16...means i am just faking it for attention or [heaven forbid] because i am being entitled because i am a single white male and just using my gender and skin tone to abuse some kind of power....as if the fact i struggle to breathe most of the time and barely walk has a bloody thing to do with my gender or skin tone...or my age...i am fairly sure it has to do with the fact i am, in fact, disabled and have many health problems

7:25 - Being autistic myself, if you've shut down you're not going to be able to think well enough to consider calling the police. I've had those kind of shut-downs, and you fixate on a single thing to the exclusion of anything else.
And even if you did call the police, you’re not going to be able to sufficiently explain what happened due to the overstimulation and waterfall of emotions. You’re better off waiting until you’re in a quiet area where you can calm down and process what just happened.
This is most likely why she was begging to return home.
Only thing the OP did wrong was not calling the cops and became willing to give the Karen the seat after what she did. The OP is too nice.
So many of these horror stories have a common thread: my partner was so kind and thoughtful, and never voiced any problem with my behavior, UNTIL they moved in.

This is just disgusting. I also have what you could call an “invisible disability” that’s attacking my brain, it’s kinda like tourettes and autism mixed as it causes tics and meltdown behavior but it’s a lot worse. I also have severe anxiety. I get accused of faking tics all.the.time. It’s sooooo annoying. Especially when everything hurts and no one seems to understand me except my friends.

As I used to have tics alike behavior (according to doctors) caused by medicine for a disorder that the school forced me to get meds for (they complimented my focus when I was off the meds XD)
And some of them was audible so I get treated like shit because of something I can't control
And because of my experiences I have a huge respect for people who can't get rid of tics or alike

And I had a coughing tic which has been confirmed as a tic not a cold and I was not allowed to participate in home economics (literally the most fun lessons in school) because of my tic

Yeah, I have juvenile arthritis (to the point where I spent months of my life completely unable to move because of pain), and I regularly get people yelling at me to stop faking it, and that I’m way too young to have arthritis. Kudos to the OP to knowing their limits, and removing themself from the situation.

First story: was a 59 year old truck driver 2 years ago more than capable of taking care of myself,being the one to be helping others and my late wife and I were the ones to dig up a couple bucks for friends in need or tight spot but then an eventually fatal medical condition has put me on early retirement and disability. Two years on and getting around with a walking stick ( figured I didn't feel old enough for a Hurri Cane and if I was going to need assistance I was going to look badass doing it) I still hesitate a bit when people hold doors for me outside of the I'm close enough the holding it for me to not let slam in my face and still find it like I'm imposing to have to ask someone to lift something now too heavy ( coming from a guy that was throwing 50 pound cartons of paper around on a daily basis for 28 years of the previous 40 it's a stark reminder of my rapid change that I need help lifting a case of Ensure to my cart) for me or from a top shelf. Understanding where OP is coming from but would have seen Karen led off in cuffs myself.

I am a disabled teen and I've dealt with Karens as well. I have something close to their situation, with pain
Funny story that has to do with saying "I love you": When I was a freshman in highschool my friend group was really close. We all felt safe enough to be extremely vulnerable together and we supported each other through everything. All of us loved each other like siblings. So whenever any of us hung out we always said "Love you" when we left. Fast forward a few years and I was sitting in the hallways of the music department waiting for the first theater rehearsal of the year to start when a freshman I had only met at auditions (they didn't actually audition for the show, they were going to be in tech and it was encouraged for them to come just to meet everyone) leans against the door a few yards away that leads outside. They look visibly upset so I ask if they're okay. I have a reputation as being very friendly and open so a lot of the underclassmen see me as a mentor (their words not mine), so it is not uncommon for freshman especially to come to me to talk. The freshman proceeds to tell me that they're having issues with their parents and wasn't looking forward to going home. We had a conversation for almost a half an hour before their ride came and had to leave. I was so wrapped up in the conversation that while they were walking out the door I said "Bye! Love you!" They didn't turn around or anything but I knew they heard it. I immediately felt so embarrassed and couldn't help but wonder what that person was now thinking. Did they think I said it because I actually love them? I obviously don't but I was extremely worried that they thought that I was confessing my feelings after talking to them for 30 minutes. During rehearsal I went over to one of their friends who was acting in the show and asked to please tell them that I didn't mean to say that and it was just a habit. The next time I saw them I apologized again but they just laughed and assumed I hadn't meant it so there was no need to worry. So yeah. lol
My heart hurts for the disabled bus rider. I was 31 when I had an accident that left me disabled. I have had elderly peoole treat me like that when I could still get around with a cane. They could walk better than me without a cane but would have a hissy fit because I had a disability license plate and parked in a disabled spot. It is insane how crazy and cruel some of those people have been. Now I am in wheelchair and dont have to deal with them aa often thankfully.

That behavior is so foreign to me, I only know people who inform regularly how someone is doing, when they know they are physically unwell.
And there’s no thing like “too young to be in pain/disabled”.

I agree but the issue is sense she didn’t have the choice in the matter, or feels she didn’t, she is just gonna relap and it is still very controlling behavior from the boyfriend. Therapy is we’re he should told her to go and maybe watch her drink and tell her how much she’s drinking instead of trying to control it straight up

Story #4: The second date? You've only known each other for two weeks? You gotta run! I mean do you know how many horror movies have people like this? Yes, he might just be really inexperienced, and/or really desperate to get in a relationship. Either that, or you're just way too hot to handle! But guys that think highly of themselves, and have at least a couple options, don't rush into things. You've only gone on two dates! More importantly, you've only known each other for two weeks! That's fourteen days! Plus this might be him trying to manipulate you. Which leads to emotional, and sometimes even physical abuse.
She's also the weird one for screwing someone on the second date, 10 days after they first met, n then acting like he's the weird one for developing feelings.

When I was 34- 35 years old (I'm 38 now) I had such severe sciatic back pain that I couldn't walk to the bathroom without my husband helping me walk. It was completely debilitating until I got physical therapy. Back pain is no joke....

As someone who is in my mid 30's has arthritis in my hip (also requiring a walking stick), and is also on the autism spektrum, the first story really pisses my off. I too have people look at my in a judgemental manner thinking that im "faking it".
There are some Karens who will still say "You're not disabled enough" even if the disabled is literally missing half their body.
I also suffer from crippling anxiety. I know what it feels like and that is something that makes me truly feel what they felt.
For story one I totally support you bc I've seen videos on RUclips. Of ppl not treating autistic kids right. But don't worry I will support u:)

Did you ever try with a genetic specialist? There is a syndrome call EHLERS danlos syndrome, I have it, this syndrome makes you feel a lot of pain and also makes some people looks younger that they are...
If you can, maybe you can ask for your doctors for this possibility.
I hadn't a diagnosis until I was 29 years old. It's horrible to suffer chronic pain and it's worst when even the doctors don't know why.

The pain would literally drop me to the ground at times

Thankfully, after about 10 years, the pain finally went away on its own
I still have occasional pain, but it's not anything like what it used to be.
I never asked for disability for that, as I was mostly able to lead a normal life
But I would let my employers know so that if they would check the cameras and see me on the ground, they would know what was happening
To the last story. The person also has to know not to have sex with somebody on the first date. That's totally cringe!

I was born with a defective hip and leg that requires me to use either a walker or a wheelchair depending on how much it is bothering me, and sometimes when I have gotten on a bus because I can't drive. There have been plenty of people who have refused to allow me to sit down, even though they can see that I am struggling to get around. There are also some people who complain about long I am taking to get up
Until someone goes through back pain to the point you can't stand more than a few minutes or pick up/carry more than 5 pounds-yes anything more than 5 pounds hurts and makes it hard for me to walk- they literally don't know.
Yeah before Mr. Smith (my old neighbor) passed away this year I did help him out with his groceries or stuff he did say "I cannot pick up anything that's heavier than 10 lbs. due to my back." which that's the base of your neck down to your upper hip/tail bone
I also have a disability where it makes it difficult to walk for long periods of time or just starts to hurt. I was in physical therapy, and if there’s people who will just stare at you look at you whisper about you it’s difficult
Am I just dumb or if after you stopped drinking you notice your health getting better that actually means you did have a drinking problem? On that logic I believe you are in denial.
Not that your husband is not being super controlling, but something you need to consider.
Drinking alcohol can affect health, but again quitting or reducing something like alcohol which is usually used as a coping mechanism should be a personal decision. If someone else enforces a limitation and controls aspects that don't need controlling, they're more likely to relapse, and potentially hold a grude/frustration over being forced into changing stuff they weren't ready or wanting to quit.
This is very sad especially because I know at least some of the pain he felt in the first story

For the first story: As a person whom also has back pain and autism, I have had simular experiences and it sucks. I have a teacher where if like three people are talking she will make the whole class stand up and stand there while the class is being taught. Thankfully, the principal came in one time and let us sit down (thank the Lord, my back was about to give out on me.). So I've had simular experiences, it sucks, but I believe you will make it through and screw that karen.

Feelings are pretty much a deck of cards, not knowing what to do is normal, you just need to order and shuffle them if you can.
I'm so fortunate to be where I am. I have arthritis in my spine, knees, and a few other places, so I need a cane just to stand, most of the time. I haven't driven for years so I rely on public transportation. Most people where I live know that just making it to the bus stop takes pretty much everything I have, and more times than not, if someone is in the front seats when the bus comes to my stop, they will move back without being asked when they see me getting on. I'm always very appreciative of that. I'm still waiting for someone to come up saying I'm faking it (I'm pushing 60 but look more like 40 something)

Regarding the first story, I TOTALLY Understand where they are coming from, My mum has chronic pain and I have autism so if that happened to me… My worst problem is sound so her screaming and everyone yelling I probably would’ve just walked off the bus before I feel like I’m gonna pass out
I used to be a serial cheater ... I had to go through some terrible things in my life ti realize why I was acting like that and how terrible I was.
Thankfully once I understood it, I've never done it again ( over 7 years) and me and my fiance are happy and trust one another 100%.
I sometimes spend nights out with an old friend and it's no issue because she knows I'm 1000000% committed to her and have no interest in cheating.
Insecurities, bad parenting and in general stupidity causes the majority of cheating.

Your progression is amazing ive used google to study on how major serial cheaters recover and the most common results i saw was opening up to partners, cutting contact with the one that caused the serial cheating and therapy

That actually happened to me, once.
It didn't have a happy ending, though.
I was taking the subway to the ER (I've since discovered the Taxi App) and an old woman got on and started screaming at me for sitting in the priority seating. I'd sat there not only because I have ALMOST more medical conditions than fingers, not only because I had slipped a disc and was on my way to the ER, but because this seat was the closest to the escalator that ends at the turnstiles next to the elevator that rises directly into the hospital above (one of the many reasons I loved Japan, convenience!).
Mind you, I was in excruciating pain at the time, so I was clutching my cane and shaking like a leaf and crying. Did I mention I was crying well before she approached me? Well I was. Crying. And this old woman walks up and starts screaming at me to get up, stand up, I'm so fat, I should stand all the time, I need the exercise, GET UP!!! No one said anything, though. No one offered their seat to the old woman or came to my rescue. No one even looked up from their light novels and cell phones. I was in so much pain, I was struggling to think, let alone respond in a foreign language.
So I reached up above me, grabbed the overhead hand grippy thing, and used it and my cane to lever myself out of the seat.
And.
I.
Screamed.
Of course I screamed. I was pinching the nerve at the base of my spinal column. It is not a pleasant sensation. If you're curious what it feels like, get a spinal tap but ask the doc to mess up and hit the bone. Feels JUST like that. I should know. I let a baby doc do their first spinal tap on me. ...he did much better on his second try.
So I manage to get myself out of the seat and VERY SLOWLY shuffle over to the doors. And thank god, the next stop was the hospital, so I only had to struggle to remain standing on a moving floor with a shifting spinal column for a minute or so before the doors opened.
And then?
I got the good drugs. And I slept for 5 days straight and when I woke up, the pain was gone. God, I love that ER doc.
The first story: bro that was one of the most crazy Karen I've ever heard since I have never heard a Karen kick someone of "faking disability" tbh I would be so shocked if I was one of the passengers and I would not know what to do
For the first story I cried because it just shows how evil humanity can be and how nice it can that it also proves that nice people do exist it's also rare for me to cry to a story like the first story but the story in this one just made me cry
