Dr. Southard I have had PCOS since high school. I am on medications and doing well. I do still have bad cramps with my periods and pain. Please do a video on PCOS.
I really liked your talk on endometriosis, it's also interesting to notice differences in treatment in the US compared to Europe. I'm a medical student in Germany and we're taught that a good option besides the ones you mentioned is the progestin-only pill since it's thought to inhibit hormone-dependent growth of endometriosis lesions. I actually took one myself for a few years (desogestrel) and it helped with my endometriosis
As someone who has had PCOS for years I can't stress enough how important it is to find an OB-GYN who will listen and are up to date on these conditions. Things are constantly evolving. For years I had so many OB-GYN's jumping to birth control as the answer to all my PCOS issues along with drastic weight-loss not to mention told me IVF would probably be my only option. I recently got a new one who went into all the CHOICES I had to treat my symptoms including supplements, therapy, etc. Had my first period in two years last month. I constantly feel like she's on my side. It's amazing. My personal experience is what has inspired me to consider it as a specialty. I would love to be a fly on the wall during an infertility rotation and see what is being taught about these conditions now to new doctors.
I am 53 years old and have endometriosis. My Reproductive Endocrinologist said after my lap (in 2001) it was the worse he had ever seen. My bowel, bladder, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries were all attached. Took 8 hours to do the surgery. I was after 6 years of trying to conceive able to have my son by IVF. He is my only child and I was never able to have more. I do consider myself to be lucky to have him as I know several women with endo that never were able to. My mom had it, her sister and many cousins/second cousins on my mom side that all have it. I am thankfully in menopause and have not had a period since I was 40 so I no longer have to deal with very heavy bleeding for 10-14 days each month with excruciating cramps for 10 days each time.
I was diagnosed from surgery at the age of 15 with Endo. I am now 33 and ended up having a hysterectomy this year. The best decision for me, I was so sick for decades. Stay strong always❤
Hello...I wholeheartedly believe in the benefits of exercise. I recently took a break from exercising...and while it was enjoyable at first ..my aches are not worth it. Great video and good luck on the move!
Hey Rachel! Thank you so much for making a video on endometriosis! I can imagine it can create a lot of inconvenience and pain when you have such a demanding schedule. May I ask what do you currently do to help manage the pain, during your period? and does the pain affect your work/productivity? Thank you!
You are such a great teacher! I would love to learn more about peri menopause and menopause (what women can expect and do to take care of themselves during these times). ❤
Rachel! I would love to hear you explain how exactly the hormonal vs copper IUD’s work to prevent pregnancy (as I’ve heard they allow women to still ovulate). Also my mom had endometriosis and got a diagnostic laparoscopic surgery, where only surgical removal of the endometrium that was outside of her uterus helped her. She mentioned something about how copper toxicity can lead to really low iron levels and hormonal effects in women. I know these are maybe 2 separate topics but I would LOVE to hear your educated thoughts on them 😊
I find that I have gallbladder pain during my period. I keep my fat intake low to reduce flare ups. Then I read about a rare occurrence of endometrial tissue growing on the gallbladder and causing pain there during periods. Im applying to med school next year, and although I have no desire to become an obgyn as of yet, there are so many fascinating things about the female human body that do intrigue me, especially having given birth to 2 kids and experiencing all the pre, peri, and postnatal fun! 😂
I love your videos! I’m so excited for y’all’s new adventures in your new home!!! 🥰 Can you make a video about STIs and how/if they affect the baby if mother has it? I’m so curious.
Before I got an iud my endometriosis was awful. I couldn’t exercise bc it triggered severe cramps (on my period or not). With an iud, I have no period so no bleeding into my body cavities.
Hey I’m a radiology resident in France, here we do pelvic MRIs to see if there are any endometriosis lesions before thinking about a more invasive laparoscopy, maybe you could start with that ? I know it is probably expensive to have these tests compared to France 🙈 but I would definetly consider an MRI first (or an ultrasound with an experienced diagnostician)
Hi . I have pcos and adenomyosis. I have lots of symptoms that fit with endometriosis. Was wondering if that is possible on top of my pcos and adenomyosis diagnosis?
I ended up having a hysterectomy at 35 due to pain, periods every two weeks and a fibroid, still have my ovaries. But when they got in there, I had endometriosis all over, intestines/implants in my bladder. Totally understand the bowel issues. They couldn't get all the endometriosis out because they didn't want to damage my bladder, so when my hormones cycle I still have some pain in the intestines and bladder discomfort (feels like a bladder infection), but so much tolerable than before. I don't have that constant bloated feeling anymore. I was a very active athletic person, so didn't help me, LOL!
Fascinating. We suspect our daughter has some degree of endometriosis. She wants the laparotomy you mentioned. Question: can endometriosis cause chronic constipation? I always wonder if the lesions can adhere to the intestines and cause some level of issue. Congrats on the new home! I hope and Patrick make many good memories there. ❤
I had preeclampsia when I was pregnant with my daughter. They gave me magnesium after I was induced. Can you explain how that helps when giving birth with this condition and how it affects both mother and baby? And congratulations on your new home! I live in a townhome and understand the difficulties of having neighbors so close. 😬
Could you speak on pelvic prolapse..im 65 and having symptoms..no pain just i feel like something is in my vagina...anyway appt with a GYN in a week...thank you in advance.
Rach, know your vlog is of course yours, im not asking you to change what you mention but if you could, can you give a time stamp of when sensitive information or like detailed imagery. Otherwise great video aas always!
@ like a time stamp of when the conversation you had would end and the blog continues to the other conversations/scenes. I just don’t like listening about blood and poop, I mean it’s educational I understand and people should be informed of what women go through and they should definitely hear that from you as a OBGYN. Im just weird idk
The neighbors dont know thet you are moving not for them but for you guys. Now they will think that bc they bullied you, they can use that tactic on the next neighbors😢😢😢. Little do the know about tour herd of followers who are in high up positions ready to deny loans, reject house purchases, and so much more....i am kidding 😂😂😂
I thought the education session was so interesting!!! You definitely did it justice. I would love to see more!

I'm sorry, but i won't be providing medical advice here ): Please see your doctor!
Thanks I certainly will .

Is LMNT safe for pregnancy?
I would consult your doctor first :)
ARE WE GETTING NEW MERCH??????
How long do have left before you're gone 😢
?

Have you noticed your symptoms improving since you went to Europe/started being more mindful of what you’re eating?
I've always been mindful about what I eat. I didn't have my period while in europe, so i can't say for sure. But my bowels felt great in europe.
How are you Rachael?
Rach, know your vlog is of course yours, im not asking you to change what you mention but if you could, can you give a time stamp of when sensitive information or like detailed imagery. Otherwise great video aas always!
