We were in Guayaquil in Nov and Feb. You might consider staying in Samborondon which is a suburb across the bridge. We read about Guayaquil crime but never felt unsafe in Samborondon (but it's there too). Our Airbnb was in a secure building. We walked a lot and also used "secure" taxis and did go into the main part of the city during the day on both visits. On the malecón women used cross-body purses which they kept a hand on and people wore backpacks on the front. We also walked along Calle Panama. One piece of advice about taxis--we got the number from a taxi rep in front of the mall and always used them. When we were in the city, we asked a hotel to get us a cab. There will be lots of "taxi drivers" wanting to pick you up. Heading to Cuenca and Loja in Feb! Can't wait.
Wondering if you have ever been to Esmeraldas and Baños to the natural hot springs or a spa! Would love to see something along these lines and something where you connect with the Shamans or Healers in an indigenous tribe.
You guys fit in wherever you go! Thank you for your transparency; you let us know the good and not so good (Guayaquil). Looking forward to seeing more spots around Cuenca!
We try! It wasn't hard to fit in here. There is an openness among a good number of expats and locals - the community here is nice! We've been told several times about the not so good regions but we'd still like the opportunity to see for ourselves, cautiously.
My wife and I are in Cuenca until Oct 5. We are more confident that we want to move here after watching your videos. We are really enjoying ourselves and plan to move here in November. If it works out perhaps we could meet up. Chao.
Glad you guys have a sense of where you want to be. We have just left Cuenca and are heading to the coast to see what adventures await. Best wishes to you and your wife maybe we can meet up when we come back through. Safe Travels!
That's my friend Adrien Winger from Colorado in the intro photo of your mixer. So excited to see her and glad you were able to meet her and friends! She and her husband have been living in Cuenca for over 5 years. I'll be back again to visit Ecuador again in February. This time Olon and Galapagos.
Hey, just responded to your email. The hiking group meets the first Tuesday of every month at Tres Puentes. Here's the info link - gringopost.com/2022/09/29/first-tuesday-walk-to-turi-tuesday-october-4th-9-am/
Hi, I am interested in retiring there. I will be retiring at the end of 2023. I realized that I will only be bringing in $1200 per month. I currently live in Northern California. I Know I can't live off that where I currently live now. My question is Can I retire there with that monthly income? I just got my passport last month. What is the next step?
Yes, you can live off of that amount here. The problem is establishing residency. For the Pensionado Visa you need to have 1275/ month coming in. Now if you are a college graduate with a recognized degree you only need to show $425 coming into your account for 3 successive months. All of this aside Your next step would be to visit the area you think works for you. An exploration of your future home. $1200/ month can get you a visa in many different countries where you can live well. Time to get some stamps in that passport 😉
Apryl here 🖐🏾 Cuenca felt very safe. Even at night, in Centro, many businesses were open, young crowds, older crowds and families were out enjoying the area. In my opinion, I think it's safe.
I wouldn't advise staying very long in Guayaquil. There are a few interesting sights, but you can see them in one day. It's not particularly attractive and not super safe outside of that small tourist zone.
Thanks! We're not here for the touristy stuff...although we may do something for the channel. We are here hunting down a bigger story. That interests us.
@@TheYarbros Do not get carried away by the fear or fear that Ecuadorians from other cities instill in you due to crime in Guayaquil as if there is no crime in their cities, I have lived in Guayaquil all my life and the last time I suffered a robbery was 14 years ago With this I do not mean that you should not be careful, the thing is that in any country in the world crime does its thing, it is advisable not to go to the marginal neighborhoods because that is where the robberies are concentrated. Unlike Cuenca or Quito in Guayaquil you will find greater night movement in the north of the city, the center after 8:00 p.m. the commerce is running out of movement due to the fact that most of the workforce lives in large urbanizations, on the Samborondon road, Daule, etc. On the coast between December and April the beach season begins, the end of the year is the best time on the coast and especially in Guayaquil, I hope you are in Guayaquil in December so you can enjoy the famous puppets that only in Guayaquil are the better built, no point of comparison with the saw. One more thing, just as there are differences in the United States between the north and the south of the country, there are also cultural differences on the coast and in the mountains of my country, so it is best that you draw your own conclusions about your stay in the city, because most of the opinions of alert and fear are from people who do not live in the city and only get carried away by the sensational news.
Another good content of yours. Truly appreciate it. Ecuador seems very nice but what scares me is the 5.4 Million venomous bite sneaks with 100,000 deaths each year. They seem to be in forests, both fresh and saltwater, swamps, deserts, and grasslands, meaning they are everywhere and there are about 155 species of them.
@@bernadetteshiels5240 I understand what was said my point is very specific as well there are dangers around every corner in life. Life is dangerous and still we live. The Boogie Monster, snakes, rats, crazy people....I don't have a spirit of fear. I have a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.
Hahahaha I assure you that adding all the diseases do not die 100 thousand people a year. Not even adding the deaths from murders, there are insect bites but only in certain rural areas or in the Amazon
I think you should be very careful about going to Guayaquil. If you decide to go to Guayaquil anyway, then refrain from wearing any rings or any other jewelry. My 2 cents only.
I have noticed in all the videos that I follow on RUclips everyone calls their audience “you guys“ or “hey guys” etc. What is with this? It’s not even just a gender thing- it’s just annoying. Everyone who has these travel videos or van videos or relocation videos are doing the same thing-visiting all the same places And calling their audience “guys”. personally, I’m bored and it’s just weird. has anyone else noticed this? Is there some kind of school you all go to where you are taught to do the same thing?
