I wasn't really interested in traveling the Latin countries until you started to show the beauty of Ecuador.
Don't think twice, Latin america is the best to travel and retire!!
Affordable, beautiful and a lot of variety. We really hope you feel encouraged.
I was set on Panamá for years! But now…. I’m so indecisive😬
México Baby You will discover new gorgeous places everywhere
Hello my friends, thanks to came to my City Guayaquil show the world how beautiful is it.
We will!
Welcome to Guayaquil, I hope you enjoyed your first day. Those experiences enrich us and open our minds. Thanks for sharing Yarbros!!
We are having a blast out here!
Hey Yarbros--sending love from Detroit! We're so happy to see you all in the big city and with warmer weather. After watching you guys for two years, we've packed up our place and are heading out on our own adventure in two weeks! We're so excited, maybe we'll see you all on the road!!
Congratulations fellow Detroiter! All the best on your adventures 👍🏾
Heyyy 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾
Awesome! We're extra excited for you! I hope we do run into eachother! Pack your sunscreen, swanky hat, inquisitive attitude and enjoy your adventure!
Excited to go on this virtual journey with you. After y'all have experienced the difference I'd love to hear about the differences you notice if any from high altitude living versus varying degrees etc.
Well be sure to cover that! Thanks for coming along!
I spent some time in Guayaquil a few years ago visiting family and friends. While there are some sketchy areas, I did not feel unsafe walking around. Check out iguana park, have coffee or lunch the malecón 2000 overlooking the guayas river. Go up to the top of las Peñas hill for great views of the city. The Urdesa neighborhood looked nice with with lots of upscale restaurants. Just have to smart and be aware of surroundings like in any major city.
Thanks we're planning onndoing all of that!
When I lived in Ecuador 40 yrs ago, there was a huge cultural divide between the coastal cities and the mountain cities. Similar to that between the American north & south.
We are seeing that...it also appears that they have a disdain for one another as well!
Good morning April and Randal beautiful Trip I’m happy you feel safe and happy I enjoyed the video . ❤❤
Thank you & thanks for tuning in.
I spent one month in Guayaquil May. I didn't feel danger. I stayed away from seedy areas and wasn't into the ilicit lifestyle. The people to me were very friendly.
That makes sense to me!
You two are like the aunt & uncle I always wanted. Love watching y’all live it up!
Really enjoyed this❤❤❤ And so so happy for you guys!😍😍😍❤❤
Thank you❤️😁🤭
Thanks for your honesty. I always look forward to seeing your new adventures.
Always a good time...finding ways to he honest tastefully😄
Everything will be fine in Guayaquil, just try to go to the shopping centers and never but never take the taxis on the street hehe is better the taxis of the cooperatives of the shopping center, they are at the main door of the shopping center, they are taxis that belong to the shopping center, they are very safe and all have a definitive rate, if you go to Salinas you will enjoy it, the coast of Ecuador is very pleasant
Thanks for the heads up and advice... we are looking at going deeper on the coast.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey ❤. I really look forward to your videos.
That feels great. Thank you!
Uh oh NOT Shenanigans!
Happy to be catching up with your trip! Stay well and safe Yarbros.
Another great, informative and inspiring video. The scenery was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing the good AND the shenanigans! ❤
Thank you for enjoying the content!
Congrats on 40K fam!!! So happy for you guys!!
Gracias!!!
Thanks for sharing your first impressions of Guayaquil. Looking forward to the story your are searching in Guayaquil 👍
We can't wait!
Great video! You guys are informative AND entertaining!
Thanks so much!
Love it...can't wait for more!
Looking fwd to bringing you more!
Thank you for being real and sharing the good, bad & ugly points in your travels.
I am a retired 62 yr. old married woman who loves travel. That said my husband supports my travels as he is a working retired Airmen. Question; where is an english speaking country where l can get dental in-plants? Also if l outlive my 69 year old husband were can an American of African descent live comfortably & safely?
Let's see...Lake Chapala, Merida and some other cities in Mexico have large English speaking expat groups (w/ afrocentric representation), Manta and Cuenca here in Ecuador. You can connect with the Black Expats in Panama Facebook group for recommendations...you have lots of options.
Looks like you two are catching "long term home vibes" in Ecuador!😉🏡🏘
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 40K SUBSCRIBERS ACHIEVEMENT!!🎉🥂🍾
Thank you!!!
Can't wait to see your adventures in Guayaquil!
Thanks for coming along!
My wife and I spent a month in Guyaquil this summer and loved it. Glad you guys went there.
We really enjoyed the city!
Big love and watch your six as always. Looking forward to this part of your adventure. Haven't seen an abundance of G videos so do your thing entertaining and educating us.
Thanks for being at the ready....We'll see what perspectives we can provide!
I AM SO GLAD YOU GUYS MADE IT TO GUAYAQUIL (PRONOUNCED "GOO-AH-YA-KEEL). I AM A NYer, BUT ALSO A GUAYAQUILENO. I WANT TO MAKE A PARALLEL FOR YOU TO BETTER UNDERSTAND MY CITY- CUENCA, MOST OF QUITO AND THE SIERRA IS LIKE A SUBURB, WHILE GUAYAQUIL IS LIKE NYC WITH IT'S GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD PARTS KIND OF LIKE GOIN TO THE UPPER WEST SIDE VS GOING TO THE SKETCHY PART OF THE BX OR BK- IT'S ABOUT STREET SMARTS AND COMMON SENSE. I HOPE YOU ENJOY ALL THE CULTURE AND BEAUTIFUL PLACES GYE HAS TO OFFER! GET READY FOR THE HEAT (HOTTEST TIME AKA SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE SUMMER IS DECEMBER-MARCH SO YOU'RE GOOD RIGHT NOW)! P.S. WE SPEAK FAST AND WE ARE NOT RESERVED WITH OUR THOUGHTS- IN THE COAST, SO DEPENDING ON WHO YOU SPEAK WITH, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION OR ASK THEM TO SPEAK A BIT MORE PAUSED.
Loving the culture thanks for the pronunciation....I've been saying it differently every time I say it. It's nice to know the correct way. Loving the culture, food and spirit of the people here.
@@TheYarbros No problem!! I really truly enjoy your guys's channel. My gf and I sit down and watch and enjoy your videos all the time!! Can't wait to see where you go. I will drop some suggestions when I have some time later on. Thanks for responding and always interacting with your audience- you're doing it right! 👍🏼💪🏼👊🏼💥
Just found you guys and love the vibe! New subbie!
Welcome to the fam! Thank you for the subbbbbb!
Well done guys, enjoy Guayaquil city.
We are!
I can't wait to see what happens next!
About to get into the lab and start cooking it up!
Hey guys, check out the parque forestal.... you can see free iguanas there hanging out. And the trip from guayaquil to esmeraldas is beautiful along the coast. Have a nice time
Looking forward to the trip!
Apparently, you missed the lovely mall in Cuenca... Guayaquil is an experience. Having driven all over the world, I thought, I've got this. NOT!!! Be careful. You are in the best neighborhoods, but still be careful. Not the same culture that you've experienced so far in Ecuador. This will be an adventure.
You said it...its definitely different!
Man I cant wait to get there, hopefully will meet you all
Looking fwd to the Independence Day celebrations this weekend!
Loving this new adventure - hope there aren’t many more ‘shananigans’ though . Stay safe as I know you will 👍🏾
We are having a blast and trying to avoid shenanigans at all costs... questioning drivers before we get in. Making sure we emphatically decline all upcharges...but we are really enjoying The People here.
Admire your bravery!! Stay safe 🙏🏾
Thank you, we will
I enjoy so much your videos! Guys you should consider to go to Plaza Lagos in Guayaquil is on the next town Samborondon! I am sure you will loved it, is like being in Europe!!
Alright! Thanks for the recommendation! Samborondon sounds intriguing!
They better recognize Yarbros...This ain't your first Rodeo! Good Travels to you. ATB from lovely Cancun.
Coming through the door looking for what angles they're trying to test lol 🤔
Good move to have a host in Guayaquil easy can go to the wrong place just like any big city
Yes, indeed! We heard too many stories lol
Enjoy to the max.
We are! Thank you!
Go for a walk in the Malecon 2000 close to the river and take a dinner at Puerto Santana. 😍
👍🏽
Have you learned anything more about mamá negra? Somehow I can’t forget the images you shared.
Yes, it is not commonly known on the coast. We were told it is only celebrated in a small town by small town people. It wasn't offensive but it was not a good thing either. lol I decided not t9 ask anyone else 😅😭
Nice video guys, I don't know how long are you guys planning on staying at Guayaquil but definitely should be careful if you guys are around Guayaquil ok the 29th, because it is the copa libertadores's final and at Least 80000 Brazilian are expected to be at Guayaquil on that day.
Yeah! We heard, we'll be extra careful if we're still here
Shout out from Kingston Jamaica 🇯🇲
Big- up out there in Kingston! I hope everything is ire! 🇯🇲
I just returned from Guayaquil 2 days ago. I loved it so much. The Malecon 2000 was my favorite area. The Aerovia was a new experience. I did not like the malls and the big supers. I found it overpriced (similar or more than Midwest USA). I like to do regular people stuff lol. Taxi drivers 😅 I could here “Let’s play some crazy taxi” in my head. 2 lanes is 7 across, stop signs are optional if they honk, tiny bumps are ignored, cross streets with a prayer! Everyone has a hustle, people were so friendly if you attempt to speak Spanish. I miss it already, even the nightly trash truck music.
I been watching your videos for a month.. How was I not subscribed! well, I fixed that!
Glad you joined the fam officially! Welcome on board!
The journey from Cuenca to Guayaquil is truly beautiful. The thing I love about G is the heat! Here comes the sun! I did that, too! Had to have the taxista pull over. No way! LOL! Athe the fast food restaurant, too?
Yes...it seems like the culture here is based on bribery and upcharge...I will keep you posted!
Ya'll got "tried" 3 times in 24 hours; must feel like being back in the US🤣 Like you said, it's a big city, and you have to know how to move around in it. To be aware is to be alive. It will be an adventure for sure!
Girl, I was laughing but it is definitely a part of the culture here. APracticing aggressive defense over here.
Beautiful inside and out❤
😁
Go to Salinas!!!!…..nice shore and malecón
Okay! Any suggestions for things to do or an Airbnb recommendations let is know!
You are a beautiful couple, thanks for taking us along on your adventures! So fun to watch. The taxi experience would have rattled me, especially if I was alone. I was surprised about the girl in the mall trying to hustle you. Do you feel targeted as foreigners? Glad you have each other. Stay safe.
There is a bribery culture here and it seems to be sewn into society, city workers, businesses, taxis...it appears to us that you have to question things. On the other side we have been here for four days and have eaten with 3 different strangers, conversed with ppl on the street for a long time and have been shocked by the beauty and sophistication of this city. Theres always a trade off.
Btw - Hoping that Apryls’ Florida family is safe and well 🙏🏿🤗
Thank you for caring!❤️ They are well!
I'm sorry you had the bad experiences .I hope and pray you will have no more .Are you going to get to a beach? It would be great to see what they are like .I hope you enjoy your lodgings and the food!
Thank you! We're definitely heading over for some beach life soon. We heard they weren't the best but we think we know where to find a nice one.
Lovely positive couple ❤️
Thanks!
Thank you
Thank you!
Looking forward to seeing your adventures here!
Thank you! Looking fwd to showing you around!
Always love me some Yarbos!
We appreciate you!
🎉🎉🎉I’m first🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Hey #1 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾 Appreciate you!
Gye was ok. Didn’t really feel there was much there but I had fun. Enjoy.
Been having a great time. Hitting up some of the attractions today. Hopefully they will be video worthy.
I spent 3 days exploring GYE with my kids and we loved it. Never had any problems. They’re constantly asking to go back lol. But idk why everyone talks so badly.
When y’all come to Manta, the theater shows English movies on Wednesdays!
Okay! We found some nice theaters here😁. Thanks though we'll probably go there as well.
wow, what a dia. will you folks be going back to quito? or what's next for the Yarbros?
We are hitting the coast and then to Peru...maybe by way of Quito but probably not.
I am really looking forward to seeing your experiences in Guayaquil. I keep hearing that criminal activity is off the chains there … but the stats I’m finding look like they’re similar to Chicago which, despite the reputation, isn’t at all the worst in the USA. I’m not sure how up to date those stats are however.
Hey 👋🏾 Looking forward to bringing Guayaquil to you!
Hey Yarbros - everyone does warn you about Guayanquil but the place does have its charms. Just make sure you're more scrupulous with water and potentially contaminated produce there after Cuenca's world class water.
Right!!! The only place we've traveled to where you can actually drink the water....gonna miss that.
Oh my goodness!! Not a show down over the seats 😲
You got it! I cut it down but it was a showdown and we bought our tickets from the gate so....we weren't sitting anywhere else😑
A Guayaquil adventure? Ooooo, what can it be?
😁
😎👍
Hope you have an uneventful stay in Guayaquil, way better than the start of this trip.
It's gotten better.... a lot better.
you need visit samborondon is so pretty
Yes we stayed out there for a week. Not very walkable but a nice area.
There are two apps that work. Indriver or Uber.
👌🏾
I prefer to use Operazuay van service. About $12. It's waaaay too hot there.
Yeah, we considered a van service and opted not to. We'll give them a try to our next destination.
The seediness is where it's at. I enjoyed walking the side streets of El Centro taking in all vibrancy. Just stay away from the red light districts. Hahaha!
Yea, those..."women at work" strips is where dudes get got for all they have.😅😪🤣
How's the prices at the mall usd dollars
They ate higher than we're used to but the lowest we've seen in Ecuador
How many times can you extend your visa?
Only once you get 180 days per year.
Perú gives a 180-day tourist visa (most of the time) and to get another 180 days, you just need to do a very quick visa-run.
@@boink800 thats good to know.
having 'extra luggage " (ie +1) it's not uncommon to get an extra charged. i did that travelling and had to pay a 'surcharge'.
Is like any country some places are good some are bad but at least no mass shouting and not getting kill by a racist cop.
Facts!
Agree 100% !!
did u guys move ? i thought yall were moved to ecuador for good.
Lol, no we've been to a few countries since EC. Currently in Mexico for a bit.
Man, best of luck but no me gusta Guayaquil! I get out of there as fast as I can and get up to Manta. Much safer and more tranquillo. Safe travels!
Thanks!
😄
That’s should be free,to put your bag on the bus 😂. I think its a nickel to get to the bus 😂 have fun . I think its 10 bucks to Salinas, check out the whale watching.
Thanks!
Wait! What?! We didn’t see the Afro Ecuadorian side of Guayaquil! Do tell. (Ok, we’ll watch the rest of the episode)😅
We needed some time to learn and meet ppl. Afro season is coming soon!
Just fyi, pronounced why-a-queel. The thing I don't like is that poor and rich (unlike Cuenca) are separate making for bad neighborhoods. Have you not been in Mall del Rio in Cuenca? Really nice. Good video.
Yes, we've been and thanks for tuning in. That story is part of the reason we are here.
Wow so many people trying to get an extra dollar this video. You gotta be on alert at all times when travelling smh
Yes. they'll nickel & dime you to death...gotta stay on top of it!
Bad vibes in Guayaquil. Dealing with shady people every day will wear on you. Stay safe you two.
Thanks...its funny. I know that I am programmed.....I am always a little shocked when ppl aren't trying to scam me. In prayer about that.....
