The Guntank should have been fitted with a head camera sensor, as opposed to a top head pilot canopy, as means of making the piloting experience more feasible. It's silly how this was even considered. The original series take on making Hayato sit at the head, as opposed to in the torso is silly for it's dangerous exposure in combat. Also, was the Guntank II really a limited production model, or was is mass produced to support the GM and GM cannon?
Since the guntank's development was originally meant to make a replacement to the T-61 tanks so the weird two separate cockpit is probably just a early development leftover quirk since the guntank was meant as a tank 1st and mobile suit 2nd
@@spartana1116also it’s eventually replacement the RMV-1 Guntank had a 2 or 3 seater variant probably a hold over design from the Type-61 and the Type-61A4 plus which had two or three seater designs
But using sensor on head could make Guntank vulnerable to Electronic warfare attack like Cosmic Era Testament Gundam Mirage Coloid Virus spreader You know why Testament unit 2 aka Astray Outframe D can beat Testament unit 1? Because Pilot In head just like Guntank 😂
@@ZeroDarkness- Probably but it could also be a cost measure since the Core Booster didn’t really pan out for mass production since the Guncannon variants didn’t get core boosters either.
maybe this is because ammunition was located in torso and they decided to position pilots away from them. or they had a lack of funding and decided to reduce cost of equipment with this solution. or personal preferences of project manager. you can think of many reasons this is probably why I like guntank series.
Funnily enough one of the most common Tank Armored Core types in ACVI is double shoulder mounted laser cannons and double handheld missile launchers. Some loadouts just work no matter the universe.
Oh what a treat. A video for my favorte MS line. You love your amphibians, I love my tanks! Btw, the Earth Forces sure is lacking in the "goofyMS design" category. Wish they tried harder.
Only in the Origin continuity. Plus the regular Guntank from the White Base in the origin manga is actually a Prototype Guntank, and they already had several of them before recovering the Gundam in Side 7 (as opposed to the mainline continuity, where the White Base arrived without any MS, and left with the Guntrio)
Well al the core block or center part of MS are used as sentry turrets, sometimes they give them some legs supports and heavy weaponry like the G-RAY or the LAS-G, but almost all of the ms on the shows has a kai/custom a boost but more the more usued is the cannon type 😅, other like the Victory or spirit gundam got the core block system and do the bottom core y top fighter variants, or a BWS to implement heavy power and change the ms utility on the terrain they need to adapt and fight
It was a good video, I’ll be honest I wished you did cover the RX-440, the RMV-1, and the Mass Production Guntank. Cause the obscure models often rely on some of the development history of the prior models which could have helped a bit on cleaning on how it goes. Also side note did the RMV-1 used Luna Titanium like the previous models or did they change to Titanium Alloy like the GMs?
I used to love the guntank as a kid, but as an adult the design choices/ the writers development story of it is honestly shit tier. The Core block system makes no sense when your pilots are at 2 separate points, instead of both controls being in the core fighter itself. The BOP weapons could of be additional shoulder weapons while the guntank had actual hands to use other weapons. Zeon did it way better with Hildolfr if we had to be honest.

War, war never changes
Some of those variant Guntank are intriguing.
Aren't they

Honestly making this video made me fond of the Guntank once again
Clearly if that hover guntank was based off the armored core hovers, Jerid would have died a nobody lol.
Instead he got the chance to bounce toward an explosion in his pink kangaroo mechs
what about the Origin Gun tanks the proto type used by the EFSF

Snakeman looks pretty good to me, with its weapons, low design and everything.
Guntank Wooooooooo!

i really thing the Guntank is seriously underused after the OYW. They could have developed it into something like the Thunderbolt Version RX-75(S)
Good video. I didn't know about any of those guntanks before now.
Any favorite?
Nice vid, would be interesting to see more obscure MS from the likes of Makoto Kobayashi or kazuhisa Kondo, like the gelub for example
1 My favorite part is Kai piloted the Guntank to fight against the Z'gok with the Gundam.
2 I think you miss the Guntank ground type from the MS Igloo
The Ground Assault Type is anything but obscure. Its performance its IGLOO has made it an iconic mech
Guntank hover definitely is obscure!
WOOOOOOOOO!
Great video, didnt know about any of these
Well, there is a reason why I deemed them obscure
Maybe the guntank hover was part of the gundam development project.
where is my Psycho-guntank... i wish for the V-gundam variants video like the V-tank
V-Gundam mentionned...Chad Detected 🗣🗣
now we need the zeon's version of the guntank
Zaku tank.

I do agree. But this video was never meant to be the most in depth of the list, more like a love letter to the Gundam fans
GUNTAAANK WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
How come you didnt show the Guntank Early type with the way cooler design? I love its quad autocannon arms
Exclusive to the origin continuity + not exactly obscure
What's the name of the mobile armor at 12:13 ?
