    Thank you for making these videos, I find them really interesting. A question about the Zeta gundam I've been thinking about for a while: If the zeta's shield is an integral part of the waverider mode, what happens if the shield is used to block an incoming attack and gets damaged/destroyed? Can it still transform, or do those features become dead weight? I don't remember if this comes up in the shows or not, but having a shield that can't do its primary job (being a sacrificial piece of equipment to take hits instead of the mobile suit) because it's too important to risk damaging would be a weird design choice.

    • @gundamfacts
      @gundamfacts  Год назад +5

      A very interesting question. Given how complex and precise the Zeta transformation is, I assume that if the shield is too deformed by attacks, it will not be able anymore to dock in the right place for the Wave Rider transformation (but we should still consider there may be a certain degree of tolerance, a slightly curved or blasted shield might still be able to connect). Nonetheless, even without it, the Zeta might very well be able to transform fully, it's just that the frame works by having the head pushed inside the torso, and is not seen in the WR mode only because the shield is covering it. Without the shield, well it adds a weak spot, but I would say good luck to anyone trying to snipe the belly of a Wave Rider cruising at full speed.

It also had a whole lot of hilarious character planned, including the baby son of Amuro (with Newtype powers) as part of the lead trio, and Char returning as an anarcho-terrorist disrupting both Super Zeon and the Newborn AEUG.

    It could be that the price point for the Zeta Easy was low enough to be considered a mass produced unit, but also simultaneously more expensive than the standard mass produced units in circulation and the EF may have felt that its performance over the other mass produced units, while potentially higher, wasn't high enough to consider giving paying the cost deficit outside of giving it to aces or comanders.

Despite being in the _Sazabi._
      So not only was Amuro keeping decent control of the fight, _he was doing so in a 2v1 against two Psychommu suits._ I would not consider "controlling the fight and managing to knock the other Psycommu unit away to 1v1 the Sazabi and _actually have a winning chance"_ to be "doing poorly".

    My solution to a mass production zeta variant would be to separate both aspects of the zeta, that being the mobile armor mode and the mobile suit mode but now they are separate, like in all honesty combining it would be a bad idea in general thats like the soviets attempt to make a flying tank, it would make for a terrible fighter and a terrible tank, so the idea would be to separate those aspects so rather than mixing oil and water, we instead make it cooperate in conjuction with each forms, for example on ground use the zeta fighters would support the ground zeta mobile suits and when in need of a quick deployment they would simply dock with each other much like the tickbalang and zowort or the dodai's and [insert MS name], meanwhile when its on space its also the same thing except we equip the MS zeta's with much more powerful thrusters while the MA zeta's would be equipped with fuel tanks for longer operation in helping deploy MS further out as well spare fuel tanks for refueling MS zeta's so they won't have to constantly return to their ship greatly increasing their combat range and their operation time, and another advantage wirh having both aspects separate is the prospect of modularity, rather than having an Early Warning or EWAC mobile suit, you can instead have an EWAC zeta mobile armor for better reconnaiscance and field view while maintaining extreme maneuverability and a smaller silhouette making it a harder target for the enemy, you can equip an entire squadron of zeta MA fighters with heavy ordinance as well to carpet bomb an area and soften up defenses before the rest could engage that in conjuction with zeta MS equipped with cannon modules for artillery support and AA defenses, the combinations are endless if you separate the MS and MA form, the final advantage would be cost and maintainance since both are sepaeate machines with their own lines of production making it easier for standardization not to mention a completely MA only Zeta would make it lighter and be more capable to store ammunitions, maneuver, and overall carry more payload without the MS aspect, if that isn't enough you can save enough money to probably create more traditional zeta gundams only given to special task forces and aces, its the best of both worlds until the eventual technologicl advancements would allow for components to be more compact and efficient that finally a mass production scale zeta gundam that has both forms would finally be feasable otherwise it is a good supement for when that day comes or when an even superior mobile suit design is finally accomplished, then again you could only go so far and war isn't going to last forever so the development of said weapons would probably take an immense amount of time

    • @gundamfacts
      @gundamfacts  Год назад +4

      I do like your take but I see some problems in the Zeta dual twin suits:
      - as seen in MSG, combiners are quite difficult to use, going from the need of coordination between the two pilots, to the dockings being difficult to pull, and of course leaving both machines vulnerable
      - having two machines instead of one add different logistics problems, going from having to start up two different assembling line, adding new controls to learn for the pilots, engineers and techs needing to be ready to repair two types of machines instead of just one standardized model.
      - generally speaking, Zeta Gundam showed us that combiners (like the G Fighter which embody what you describe) have become less effective in combat in comparison with transformable models, the Gundam Mk II + G defender VS Hambrabi shows pretty much that the combiner is a disadvantage because of a lack of individual versatility

    • @traphimawari7760
      @traphimawari7760 Год назад +2

      @@gundamfacts yeah your right it wouldn't make sense especially just training alone, since its now separated between two categories of mobile armor pilot and mobile suit pilot, then again if they really went all in with the plan to adapt a mass production zeta gundam my solution would probably among that list of suggestions, although with all said and done it still wouldn't be approved since as you have said fully transformable mobile suits are generally more effective that even zeon adopted their own (gaza), honestly it wouldn't really make much sense for them to adopt the zeta in the first place now that I think about it like as you stated it is a very complicated suits and in every iteration of the story they always find a struggle to balance the suit for mass production purposes, Im even surprised they considered to mass produce it since it is too complicated for your average pilot the only people capable of piloting such suits are established aces and even then they would still struggle a bit before they get used to it, thus it would probably only make sense to mass produced the zeta as an ace unit which is one thing I got right at least, but Im ngl it would still be cool to see a squadron of zeta fighters supporting zeta suits its like human warfare but in mobile suit scales I'd also imagine there would be a zeta tank to serve as mechanized infantry vehicle to lead the charge

    I thought the whole, and only point of the transformation was to make the m.s. able to fly in atmosphere, in space combat the alternate form it's totally useless, since there's no air resistance, and is only a liability since it adds a lot of stress on the frame. However, once the Xi and Penelope come around, with tyeir Minovsky craft systems, the whole transformation gimmick becomes obsolete, since it allows mobile suits to fly with an anti-gravity system. In the end i think that the Zeta and all its derivatives are just a huge cul de sac in mobile suit development.

    By the way, IIRC somewhere I read that the Bawoo was supposed to be a mass produced Zeta Gundam made by Axis/Neo Zeon. How accurate is such claim?
    Looking at the Bawoo itself, it certainly stands out from other Zeon MS that generally don’t follow the EF archetype of a beam rifle on the right arm and a shield on the left one.
    I’m actually a bit surprised that we don’t see the EF with some captured Bawoos that had their mono-eyes replaced with visors or even Gundam eyes.
    Anyway, speaking of mass produced transformable MS, I also heard that the original Gaza C was supposedly a very flawed TMS, to the point that it’s block build construction could only withstand transforming like 5 times before the frame broke down, is that true?
    Supposedly the AMX-003S & AMX-006 were made to address such flaws, though I wonder if the AMX-003M addressed the issues as well. Since the GaZowmn was used for the other amphibious MS in Mars, it makes mw wonder why the AMX-006 wasn’t used instead as the base for the Gaza M.
    Lastly, can I suggest doing a video on the Gaza series? It seemed to be Axis/Neo Zeon’s most ambitious MS series, being mass produced 3rd generation MS (at least before the 4th generation Doven Wolf entered the picture), which seems something that both the EF/Titans & AEUG/Karaba also aimed to develop on their own, but neither achieve in the numbers Haman managed to.

    • @gundamfacts
      @gundamfacts  Год назад +4

      Okay, so let's answer in order.
      - the claim of the Bawoo being related to the Zeta is more or less true, not that it is a direct deadcopy like some would claim, but more than in their attempts to develop their own transformable suits, Axis Zeon bought/got sold/ received defection data from AE in the form of Zeta and ZZ blueprints (Zeta Project data according to MS Bible), which resurfaced in the Bawoo design.
      - as far as I remember, the exact quote for the Gaza problem is that the "transformable frame could only handle the strain of three missions", I've seen claims (even Japanese) that this would equate to the Gaza breaking down after only 3 transformations, but I think the Gaza would need to withstand at least slightly more to be approved in the first place, 3 tour of duty being...too few.
      - about the Gaza series, I once had plans and early scripts for a possible one, so why not someday!
