    Hi I wouldn't really want to dose my pond with pp unless I had a redox /orp meter on hand, this allows you to maintain the correct level of pp for the full four hours, as you do have to keep topping up the pond with pp as it becomes spent. I think you said you had algae in the pond and if I'm not mistaken this will use up the pp hence the reason it went brown so quickly. Great new channel, I have subscribed

    Good luck getting rid of trich with Pp as I tried all sorts to get rid of it in my pond for 18months but it never completely went. I tried multiple doses in a short time span, extended time doses and other treatments but to no avail! In the end I went with some advice from a koi breeder who recommended raising the salt level to 1% for 3 days then dumping 50% of water so as to reduce salt back to 0.5% and then letting water changes reduce back to 0 over time. This needs to be done very accurately with salt meter and the fish watched carefully as they can survive this level of salt but the trich can’t as long as you don’t bring the salt up slowly, I put that much salt in over 1 day 440kg of salt for my pond ( scary ) it has an osmosis affect on the trich like putting salt on a slug, it has same affect on the fish which is why a 50% water change needs to be done after 3 days.
    THIS SHOULD ONLY BE ATTEMPTED IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT YOU CAN GET TO 1% ACCURATELY
    this worked for me and as yet I have been trich free for over 7 months 😎

      Hi, Thanks for watching. I have looked into the salt in the pond idea but once you've added it it never goes away until the water has naturally replaced it? I have salt bath fish in the past which seems to be a temp fix for a lot of things as well as parasites as they will die before the fish does in the concentrated salt water... Got an update in my next video on how the PP went..

      Hi Andy, carp were originally imported into down under as game fish and have since spread throughout many waterways. They pose a major environmental threat, as it can rapidly outnumber native fish and greatly disturb aquatic environments through their destructive feeding habits. Many States is developing controls to reduce the number of carp in Australian waters. Sadly we have idiots that like to dump their unwanted koi into local lake very often too!

      I agree. Using chemicals that hammer bacteria should never be done when there is nitrite in the pond. A basic understanding of the nitrogen cycle, the affect of nitrite stress on a fishes immune system (and therefore the fishes ability to resist pathogens), would make this common sense. Taking advice from a chemical medicine seller (the Koi shop) is dubious.

My two oldest koi are 30 years old and never had a sick koi. You need to let them go though cold period with very cold water. • @KoiPondLifestyle

      Hi, I've not had to deal with Columnaris or 'Saddleback' before but I hear that many expert fish keepers recommend a combination of nitrofurazone and kanamycin as the best treatment for an outbreak of columnaris? • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  Год назад

      Hiya, once the PP is 'spent' or turns brown, it's no longer toxic. You can remove the brown spent PP with Hydrogen peroxide, but this is usually so the water clarity I better guicker, but your adding more chemicals. Yes I would water change after the PP treatment. The PP is a very harsh pond treatment and can strip oxygen from the pond very quickly, so as much air as possible should be added during treatment.... Thanks for watching..
