As a F1 fan, I really like this driving. It reminds me of the old F1 era where drivers were more important than the cars. One of the last corners from Ericsson before the chequered flag… he really pushed it to a little drift. Also love Van Kalmthout in P2.

This is proper racing - tight corners and solid walls to make the drivers use brakes and steering instead of the usual GP tracks with no walls that allow anyone to go as wide or tight as they wish!

This is a miracle and I think that Felix realized that he won't be able to turn the car and instinctively reacts moving the wheel back to front directly to the tires, because he missed the full hit to the wall for just meters. Watch the minute 1:10 when he realized that something went wrong and he moves the steering wheel directly to the tires. I think if he didn´t do that, he would had gone straight to the wall (maybe a sideway hit). Could have been a disaster.
I am an IndyCar fan because this series doesn't have bogus gimmicks. No stages, no fake cautions, no GWC BS, none of that. There is NO reason Grosjean's car couldn't have been dragged into the safety area directly behind where he crashed and the race restarted without that red flag. Please, for the love of might IndyCar, DO NOT become a clown show like NASCAR. Stop it with the gimmick reds. All my hopes for Felix.

F1 turnes into NASCAR already and IndyCar did too in the parts with ridiculous double points races which was partly changed back (only Indy is double points now AFAIK). IndyCar needs to devide if it wants to stay a true sport or a NASCAR fake show with a different look. If the latter happens I'll quit.
With the entries of former f1 drivers...and more to come with the popularity of Grosjean....Indycar series has gotten so much more exciting than previous years. Its almost comparable to the CART series of the 90's.

Can someone explain to me----why is there a "Race 1" and "Race 2"? Is Race 1 supposed to be a qualifying race for Race 2??? Or they're both actual races that provides the same amount of points? It's a tad bit confusing.
They're both separate races that count separately in the points... the qualifying occurs in the morning hours of race day (Saturday morning and Sunday morning)... but again, they are two separate races, hence why they call it "The Duel in Detroit".
I've been watching IndyCar on and off since the Arie Luyendyk days. Now with Rinus, I'm hooked. Although the racing is awesome, IndyCar should really take a look at their protocols. Power was robbed, and he was waiting for it to happen.

Because IndyCar is more driver based than car based. Put Grosjean and Ericson in 2020's Mercedes and they would dominate as much as Lewis does. Make all F1 cars equal and then see who's best.
@@FloosWorld_AoE Are you kidding? Ericsson is one of the slower drivers I saw in 30+ years of following F1 and Grosjean can be very fast in different kinds of machinery but is always on the brink of crashing. In the same F1 car Hamilton would destroy them both in every aspect.

Personally, Ericsson stayed in F1 for a while because he was pushing cash into the team, He had all the time to perfect his craft but he was always beaten and barely scored any points as compared to his teammates putting him in a much capable car won't make much a difference mostly if you realize that in the same car, he barely was at the pace of his teammate. Grosjean had his days under the sun and was brilliant (mostly in Gp2) butyes would crash and sometimes look really reckless, The point is now they're at spec-type series and the competition, environment and structure of the sport is different, the likes of Grosjean and Ericsson can flourish and show the talent they showcased in Gp2

They had to check for debree, both coming from Grosjean AND possible ones that might have cause his crash as well.

Some things never change. Power is the fastest driver on road and street courses (Tie with Sebastian Bourdais), but again luck wasn't on his side.
