Here's some of the amazing tracks they said no to when they chose this dumpster fire of a track: Sonoma, COTA, Gilles Villnueve, Mont Tremblant, VIR, NOLA, Barber, Portland, Mid-Ohio, Miami, Charlotte, Pocono, Talladega, Lime Rock

If you've ever actually driven on these streets downtown, you'll know that they've actually changed the roads quite a bit from last year and widened the track as well. It's quite technical especially through the 5-6-7 chicane because it's all uphill with blind corners immediately followed by a MASSIVE It doesn't "flow" as much as Belle Isle, but it is INCREDIBLY technical. I think given a couple more years, there are places that we can expand this track into that can potentially make the track VERY interesting. And even as it sits now, there's actually quite a few opportunities for hard racing.
This is like a throwaway race. There will be very few on-track passes within each class, typically. It’ll be all about strategy, which for a race fan, is sooooooo boring.

While I sincerely appreciate all the effort that goes into making this event happen on city streets, I am not a fan of this track. I was never a huge fan of Belle Isle (and have attended in person), but it was much better than this track. That said, I also understand that leaving Belle Isle was not really a choice.
I'm sorry, IMSA, but this track is straight garbage. I'm not necessarily against street tracks as Long Beach is great and St Pete works well enough, but this looks like some dystopian construction site with no room to maneuver. The repair bills on Saturday are gonna be ridiculous.
Omg , !!!!!! I dont know what corner it is , but when they come out of one of the turns they are staring a concrete wall and they have to swerve a hard left to miss the wall , what a joke of a " race track" , there is gonna be alot of torn up race cars by the end of sunday !!!!!!
Will be a braking track, who can brake the latest to make the pass. PPG champcar racing back in the 90/00s did city courses all the time like these (I will admit this looks a little tighter though) and they did a lot of passing in the break zones.

Thanks bro
It’s mad that John Hindhaugh is doing this and the Nurburgring 24h in the same weekend. I don’t know how he does it.
This crew is incredible!
Ambidextrous vocal cords...duh.
Because he's a legend!
How is it even possible?
Passion. The only reason I can think of if you’re able to do what he does.
Pure passion for the sport! 🤘🏾❤️
Woah! This looks stunning at 60FPS!
I'm envious...you got all 60 fps? I don't think I broke 60 fpm.
It's wicked sharp...Right?

Quali start @ 20:00. Love IMSA but not wild about this street course. But I do like slot car tracks!
@@oldfrendWish they used the classic layout, look it up.
This track looks like a nightmare to drive. I predict many safety cars and rollbacks.
Fun Indy car race to watch as well. Soooo many crashes.
I didn’t even know they were in town. Will have to get tickets!! C8.R!!!
🏆🏆 IMSA 🏆🏆
What a lap by Andy! They car looks fantastic
'An Austin Powers golf cart moment', exactly what I was envisioning :D
Please do a better job advertising for this race. So sad that I didn't know about it. Would love to attend.
Imsa broadcast product is so much better than Indycar.
It’s because they hire a world renowned sportscar broadcasting crew. Plus 1080P 60fps RUclips upload
Picture quality is superb but the sound is way out of sync.
Greatest race on one can see….take some of that fencing down….
why isnt belle isles the circuit for the detroit race?
It was until Penske wanted to make GM happy and drive around the hideous ren cen.
@kojakbungeebungee nah the bell isle nimby's wanted their state park back😂
that long straight reminds me of baku city circuit’s long straight.
i can imagine formula E using detroit st circuit cos of the narrowness.
The audio is terrible. On a good note the video is fantastic.
Ah, so it's not my setup. Was in doubt for a moment.
MASSA!👏🏼🚀
Detroit looks like a lovely place🤔
It was a rubbish track last year and still is now!
Penske should've bought Belle Isle.
Penske for President!
@@rahkinrah1963 Penske in Prison
He should have bought a state park?

Belle isle is a state park

I hope they bring back the tunnel
@@wyland_6247 YES. That tunnel run is great.
Technical circuit... SO narrow. It's like a NFS street race. I thought Long Beach was tight, but the sight lines there are so much better.
90 degree corners with no camber anywhere not really technical...
Does Rexie have a gold tooth???
Yep, they mention it early on, it's to celebrate the win last time out.
He does! It's in honor of him winning the recent round at Laguna Seca!
Why was the green flag out for so long at the scene of the crash?
Go corvette 😊
Go Mustang too! Good to see them in the series.
The main reason I watch is to see the Vette.
When I go to Long Beach Grand Prix it's only to see imsa on Saturday, pretty much ignore Indy car
You’re missing out. Indycar qualifying is awesome they’re so quick thru corners. I’m always excited for everything at Long Beach all 3 days.
Why?
This is like a throwaway race. There will be very few on-track passes within each class, typically. It’ll be all about strategy, which for a race fan, is sooooooo boring.
That, and traffic.
They will be half the time under FCY
Right - it looks like a concrete nightmare. Hate it.
In turn 8 lexus or rexy who wins its difficult ❤️
I'm guessing only half the cars are going to finish tomorrow.
Yes! Lets go Corvette! This one is for the win. Let us not happen what went at Laguna Seca!

Go Porsche
Is Rexy's gold tooth just for Detroit? If so, that's...
We're not sure yet! The tooth has nothing to do with Detroit. It's in celebration of Rexy getting the gold at the previous IMSA round.
And I though the Indycar's looked clumsy around here...
Damnit Pipo 😂😂
People call him crashrani
@@Devourur hes still my favorite haha
I hope the feed is better for the REAL race, awfulness… but thanks for posting anyways! 👍
Hello
Poor audio synk
This reminds me of forza motorsport 3
CORVETTE 😈
Is this the old F1 course?
In the same place but different track. several places overlap. Type in google "indycar detroit grand prix vs f1". you will see a comparison map
Pretty basic-looking street circuit. It looks fast. Hopefully, the racing will be good.

this shit way too narrow lmao
Boring race again 🤔
massive delay on pictures and speed chaps, awful
you'll be ok

This course is horrible.
This track only has 90 degree turns.... Only passing zone is the straights... Boring af

IMSA deserves real tracks. Not this sh*t
this is not a race... everything for porsche ... don't waste your time...wacth numburgring.
Stands look absolutely empty. IMSA deserves better than 2nd fiddle. COME BACK TO LIME ROCK!!!!
Dude it's a Friday
I know its Detroit, but people do work on work days....
Don’t worry, imsa is always packed on race day in Detroit
Bro it's only Qualifying
This track is horrible!! Need to go back to Belle Isle.
What a lousy Track. Is this in the Slums of Detroit? No better Track found???
Terrible venue for a race

What did you win?
I don't know 😅@@rahkinrah1963
This track looks like a big L but I’m happy to be proven wrong
Admit it.. This is a Mickey Mouse trace.. The original F1 track in 86, was much better.. Why spend all of this money and make such an amateur track??
