Bird Dog Training Series: "Make the Machine" | Ep: #6

Bird dog training series continues as we roll out with episode six of "Making the Machine". In this episode, we are showing you how we incorporate some of our older dogs to establish range and confidence into our young english setter puppy! These little walks are something we do almost daily, focusing on range and recall. When Máquina gets distracted by something, we simply walk away for her, creating an excellent opportunity to establish recall with distractions. With any bird dog, the foundation comes first. In this bird dog training series, we will be focusing on the foundation until the dog is ready to move forward. That bird dog foundation covers many areas, including heel work, place training, steadiness, recall, and much more.
This bird dog training series will be different from any other we’ve done for a variety of reasons. What won’t be different is that it will be real, raw and unedited. We share the good, bad and ugly knowing they they all are important in order to make progress with a pup.
Will she point? Eventually yes, I’m sure of that. Until then, we are enjoying every minute of her “being a bird dog puppy” and by that I mean an english setter puppy that makes good choices and is exposed to and held to the standard of behavior we expect. Discipline is not a negative word. Discipline earns freedom.
