Retrieving Drills & What Drills Teach Different Things

Dog training retrieving drills is what we cover in this nugget out of one of our recent DogBone Training Workshops in our Training Library. Different retrieving drills are used to train the dog different things. Marks teach the dog to watch the fall and make a mental note and judgment of where the dummy or bird fell, distance, etc... Memories teach the dog to remember where a bird is, while also teaching the dog that retrieves are not always found at the distance we can throw. Trailing memories are an easy way to stretch a dog out and add distance on retrieves. In this video, Jeremy breaks down some of the different dog training retrieving drills we use and the purpose behind each one.
