I saw a clip of Chadwick Boseman’s James Brown movie where his band isn’t too sure if his song works musically. He simply states something like “if it sounds good and feels good, then it’s good.” Might be misquoting, but even back then people knew when to break the norm.

Kind of a bad example of a JPEG bestswitch. "Its dark and hell is hot" doe's have a beatswitch, the beat itself is just dynamic. Most instrumentals in classical and jazz arent based on loops, the song changes as it continues but is still very much the same. Because songs are all based on loops now, if anyone hears the instrumental change at all its considered a "beatswitch" even if its just a drum pattern change or a new chord progression. Beat switches occur when the instrumental is changed completely to alter the mood or structure of a song. "Nights" by Frank Ocean and "SICKO MODE" are examples, whereas JPEG songs like "Steppa Pig" have no switches, the melody just changes several times but it's still the very same beat
