Also, was that a plugin you used for the harp? If so, can you share which one it is?
ALCHEMIST... period. Genius sampling
Awesome breakdown 👍 very insightful, 2 very different approaches, but both as good
Such an interesting video. I’d love more like this - maybe take a song that’s frequently sampled and compare how 2 or more producers flipped it
I noticed Just Blaze has more of a sound engineer/ live musician approach to production, hence his surgical decisions (filtering, layering, grandiose arrangements, additional composition, etc.) .
Alchemist approaches it more like a DJ/Turntablist. He is more of a scavenger who cooks from scratch with whatever is left in the fridge, but it always ends up tasting good.
2 philosophies, 2 legends.
It’s almost like The Alchemist heard Just Blaze’s song, stripped it down and flipped it to make some thing smooth as silk. Sometimes it’s okay to be a fan and be inspired. Lol. Both are legends for a reason and serve 2 VERY different purposes in their music. The Alchemist is what you play when you’re planning your heist, Just Blaze is what you play during your escape! 😉 Lol. Thanks for posting. This was amazing.
I vote for alchemist although i give u props for flipping it in a whole different original direction so respect to u
Kool vid! 🫡 The Alchemist’s version is the one all day!! It’s been one of my go to freestyling beats for years!
I really like your version. I like the harp and the way the 808 goes with the sample. Also happy you didn’t go the trap route and stayed boom bap. Also “I’m a tender little boy” made me laugh
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Your beat is fire and when it comes to Just Blaze vs Alchemist…my vote goes to JB.
