MyHeritage DNA results - Cypriot

  • I took an ancestry DNA test with MyHeritage DNA and these are the results.
    According to them I am:
    - 36.7% West Asian
    - 32.3% Greek
    - 12.8% Middle Eastern
    - 7.4% Italian
    The three other ethnicities are:
    - 5.1% Ashknazi Jewish
    - 4.1% North African
    - 1.6% Nigerian
    So yeah, that's quite a mix.
    I know this isn't 100% accurate but at least it paints a picture of our history
    All the ethno-nationalists can go fuck themselves. It only goes to show how race is an illusion and how each and every one of us have ancestor's who had their own journeys since we all descended from apes.

      S. Papadopoulos
      Yes. After the Ottomans conquered Cyprus they enforced the "Millet" system that imposed high taxes on non-muslims and other forms of discrimination. Naturally, the Cypriots did one of 2 things; adapt to make life easier or suffer in silence. But ultimately their goal was to wipe out your true identity and force a fake one onto you which goes to show what islamification actually does.

    Turks did not "originate" (whatever it means) in Central Asia but in Eastern Asia. From that point, they moved in different directions.
    Oghuz Turks established a state in Eurasia / Central Asia.
    Turkey's Turks are Oghuz Turks (like Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Qashkai in Iran, Gagavuz in Moldova).
    Before entering Iran Turks had already a mixture of Eurasian, Indo-European, Asian genetical mixture.
    These DNA tests show your connection with MODERN people of a certain geographic location (the people who live today, not in the past). The test does it by comparing samples of MODERN people with the deepest ancestry of 200 YEARS BACK MAXIMUM, NOT OLDER THAN 200 YEARS.
    Turks entered Western Asia more than 1000 years ago, and they entered Anatolia 1000 years ago.
    So, Turkey Turks' Central Asia relatedness is too older than those DNA tests are able to give a guess.
    On the other hand, Western Asia would be the best guess for the test.
    To claim that one is not Turk because that person does not have Central Asian genetics in the test result is absolutely stupid. To have substantially Central Asian genetics, a person's family should have just relocated to Turkey or they should have moved to Turkey not earlier than 200 years ago.
    Besides, Turks 1000 years ago did not have 100% Central Asian "gens" (whatever it means).
    It is a typical "straw man" fallacy to claim first Turkish people must have only Central Asian gens and then easily to "prove" whatever conclusion you desire from that.

    "It only goes to show how race is an illusion"
    I'm 100% European, my man. Just because you're a mystery meat, doesn't mean everyone else is. Also, if race didn't exist, how could you be part Nigerian, part Greek, etc? Mixed-race people do often attempt to dismiss race in order to feel better about their conflicted identity, however, so I can't blame you.

    • @MustafaKulle
      @MustafaKulle  6 лет назад +1

      Т ᚺ О Я І U M
      If you could define the "white race" and the "black race" etc, that would be wonderful. Do enlighten us.

    • @invictuspublishinghouse
      @invictuspublishinghouse 6 лет назад +3

      Black = Sub-Saharan Africans.
      White = Europeans.
      It's not difficult. You're merely an example of someone who exists on the fringes of/intersection between regions of varying genetic make-up. It's the old Lewontin Fallacy: just because purple exists, doesn't mean blue and red are suddenly invalid concepts.
      Another simple question for you: how can your DNA identify you as part Nigerian and part Central Asian, for example, if distinct genetic clusters distinguishing groups of people historically native to certain parts of the world don't exist? This video, ironically, validates race.

    • @invictuspublishinghouse
      @invictuspublishinghouse 6 лет назад +1

      Race is not a "subjective illusion"; it's genetic and perfectly observable, hence the ability to ascertain a person's racial make-up using their DNA. I'm exceedingly confused as to how you could upload this video and fail to understand that.
      Also, the term "White" is misleading, hence why I use "European" instead. The former leads to people confusing race with skin colour, which, as you pointed out with the example of NE Asians, is innacurate.

    • @MustafaKulle
      @MustafaKulle  6 лет назад +2

      Т ᚺ О Я І U M
      The point of my video is to show where my ancestors were in the past. "Race" and DNA are 2 different things. Since DNA is objective evidence then we can categorise based on different DNA structures rather than skin colour or nationality.

    • @invictuspublishinghouse
      @invictuspublishinghouse 6 лет назад

      Yes, I agree. Nationality and skin colour are (effectively) irrelevant. Distinct genetic clusters, by contrast, are very relevant. Race is nothing more (or less) than genetic variation. Hence, Nigerians and Croatians, for example, are genetically different. A Croatian born in Nigeria is not racially Nigerian, and vice-versa.
      People like you utterly baffle me. You accept, for example, the theory of evolution by means of natural selection. Yet, when someone points out that human beings around the world have undergone varying processes of natural selection (due to differing environmental pressures), thus creating distinct groups (with sub-groups), all of a sudden it's all an illusion. Madness.

    So, according to the results, you are,
    About 45% European (South),
    49% Asian (West and Southwest),
    and 6% African (North and Central),
    I think that's what these tests are mostly accurate in distinguishing. The more detailed ones are often inaccurate and sometimes incorrect because the close regions' DNA are closely similar (and yes, that may be the case with the Greeks and Italians, as well as West Asians and Middle Easterns, but West Asia is usually diverse, they would obviously appear more mixed). I would typically think that you may have one Greek/Southern European parent and one Turkish/West Asian parent. Or who knows? Perhaps both of your parents were among this mix. Small chunks of North African DNA are common in South Europe so I guess that's what it is. Regarding the 1.6% Nigerian, these very small percentages are not always correct, but it's possible.
    Don't mind me, I'm just interested in genealogy and genes.

      Mustafa Kulle so why you divide Cyprus!

      For Real, I didn't divide Cyprus. You should talk to the "Turkish Cypriots" who want a separate state.

      Mustafa Kulle Bruh you are Turkish Cypriot yourself

      Mustafa Kulle And by the way, you should upload your raw DNA (which you can download from MyHeritage.com) to GEDmatch.com because they give way more accurate results. Various Cypriots whose results showed no signs of Central Asian admixture turned out to actually have it. Either way, why would Central Asian ancestry determine one's Turkishness? Do Greeks have a lot of Indo-European ancestry? No, less than 10%... so why don't they question their Greekness?
