- After receiving the DNA results from #MyHeritageDNA I thought they were brought for some regions and were not that specific so I purchased a new DNA kit from #AncestryDNA. There are some similarities but BIG differences. Please let me know what you think about the results and if you have also experienced such differences.

Probably one of the best DNA videos I have seen until now. The Cyprus people are very unique and cross cultural
I’m Turkish Cypriot and I also did a DNA test, I was shocked by the results. I got 76% Cypriot, 6% Greek Islands, 5% Greece & Albania, 3% Italian, 4% Anatolia & Caucasus. Love that I got a high percentage for Cyprus though! 🇨🇾❤
MyHeritage DNA test ??
Informative video Ahmet! Would love to see more content. Keep up the good work 🤞🏻
Thank you ❤️ I hope to see some content from you soon too!
I love CYPRUS. Finally saw a dna video from a Cypriot. Great video man
I have mine on my channel if your interested👍🏼
Great video buddy! Unbelievable how the results are so different. Definitely Ancestry is much more accurate
Amazing video man
As a Greek Cypriot born and riased in the UK, I did my ancestry test back in 2014. Back then the tests weren't as cheap as today, When I researched it the quality of the results vary. Therefore, the more you pay the more thorough the results. I paid £250 for a good test. The results are also displayed in a variety of ways. I'll share some of my results with you if interested: 52% Anatolian caucasion! (That's what you get when your dad is from Kaspasia lol). 24% Mediteranean, 10% Ashkenazi Jewish, 7% Balto Slavic and 6% Finish. My eyes are brown and even if marry someone else with brown eyes, the test told me there's a small chance my kids could have blue eyes. My DNA also sits between Cyrpiot and Armenian. All the best! Nick :)
That’s Cyprus blood is mystical- keep uploading!
Hi Ahmet, good video thanks for that. What I want to know is your ydna and gedmatch results.greetings/selamlar from Brussel...
Thanks! I only did Gedmatch actually... You can find the results in the description section of this video :) ruclips.net/video/_m37pD8pC6w/видео.html
I also experienced a similar difference for my results... Also Cyprus men are very handsome
True
Thanks 😉
I am Turkish Cypriot by birth and got my results too, 88% Cypriot, 7% Levantine and only 3% Turkish and 1% Greek...and I come from a Turkish nationalist family, hard to believe
Yes, nationalist turkish cypriot when turks came to the region just 400 years ago.....what are you national about?
Great video man! As a Brit I love Cyprus
Thanks man
You should do an update on your ancestrydna results
Diverse and cool results
I am Turkish from Bulgaria and I have as well South Italy.
Your Cypriot score in Ancestry+ part of southern italy sure it is your Greek dna side! Be also very proud to be Greek bro! 🇬🇷🇨🇾❤💪🏼
Probably it comes from Roman, Byzantine or Venetian times when the island was under the control of these empires so greek and italian
@@MyDNAAStory That southren italy contains both greek and italian since south italians are basically half-greeks half italics
@@sicilian845 No there are other mixes like Phoenician, Norman,Lombard,Albanian,Samnite, Oscan and Roman as well. Ancient Greeks only settled on the coasts of Southern Italy and Sicily.
@@JC19676 i think you didn't read very good the comment. Also it is impossible to include also semite and germanic if these ones ain't main dnas of South italy
@@sicilian845 you mean read well. My family is part Italian. My Italian family is Germanic, Celtic, Roman and Estruscan from the North. My family is from Benevento in The South as well that was never settled by Ancient Greeks. It was settled by Samnites, Lombards, Romans and Normans.
Interesting video. I’m of Egyptian origin and according to 23andme I am 1.1% Cypriot. 😁 AncestryDNA also listed me as 4% ‘Cyprus’.
Thanks! That’s cool :)
Great results! But pay more attention to Ancestry, which is way better than MyHeritage.
Thanks! Yeah Ancestry is much more precise
MyHeritageDNA hasn't been updated in many years and is considered the least accurate and broader when it comes to ethnicity estimate. Ancestry and 23andMe are the industry standard. Much more specific, much larger database and reference samples to compare to
Wow, Cyprus is so unique! Now I wish I had at least 1 percent in me
Hahha thanks a lot bro! I think you also have a unique dna too
Interesting. I just got my dna results. Both sides of my family are from Sicily and I came up with 81% southern Italy/Sicily, 14% northern Italian, 3% Cypriot, and 2% Maltese. I never would have guessed Cypress but they claim it can range up to 12% nevertheless, I think its awesome!
@@petera618 oh thats cool :) You also have interesting results too
Ancestry basically tells you what you already know. Apparently I'm 97% Cypriot, 3% Levant.
The Levant is common in Greek and Turkish Cypriots, probably comes from the Phoenician influence on Cyprus from many centuries ago. It's weird how Cypriots from both sides don't have as much mainland Greek DNA as you would expect though.
actually , dna can't tell you specifically where you are from, but can give you a region, so My heritage dna , it's theoretically better.
Very similar to mine but don't have Iran/Persia, Central Asia and Nigerian. But I do have Melanesian
Whats your highest % and region?
@@MyDNAAStory The DNA was done inside the United State.
My father family is Palestinian and my mother mother side is Cypriot from the village Silikou in the Limassol District.
West Asia 80% (ME 57% and Caucasus 23%) then Italy/Greece at 14%. The reason ME is high is from my father family was traced back to Kohanim, Samaritans Tribe of Nablus with E-M35. Then Africa 5% (Senegal 3% and Africa North 2%) and last but least Pacific Islander 1% (Melanesia 1%).
Did The give you a haplogroup be abim?
No
I took the AncestryDNA test and I came up as 84% Cypriot. I am practically full blooded, but weirdly I look very European lol
Oh cool :) My Cypriot range is 35%-69% but got 43%. 2 of my grandparents looked very European as well but I didn’t inherent there looks lol
Where in Cyprus are you from?
@@MyDNAAStory my Cypriot range is 88-100%! I am going to take 23&me as well to see the difference in the results. We dont know much about our family history as everything got a bit complicated after the war. I never expected to be so Cypriot lol
Basically you're 20 percent native Anatolian. I'm 75 percent eastern Anatolian according to myancestry.
neither actually turkic, he has 2% turkic
Love you kardesim
Hehe efcharisto bro ✌️
Nice Job
Thanks bro!
Merhaba Ahmetcim napan?
You are wrong to think ancestry DNA is the better of the two.
Even the naked eye can detect that you have dominant Central Asian (that includes North Eastern Iranian) features.
You are most certainly not 43% Cypriot.
My educated guess is your ancestors were Turkmen from Central Türkiye who moved to Cyprus in the 18th or 19th Century.
Cypriot DNA is near identical to Syrian albeit with a higher dosage of Northern Italian and Egyptian DNA for the simple reason that the Venetians mixed with the local Greek speaking Cypriot population and many of them left the Latin Church and were rebaptised as Orthodox once Venetian rule collapsed on the island.
The Egyptian DNA which constitutes 12% - 15% of Greek Cypriot DNA is a result of the links Cyprus had with Egypt before the first Turk even set foot on the Island.
Hellenic DNA is negligible in Cyprus because the vast majority of Hellenics (aka Greeks) moved out of Cyprus during the centuries of frequent raids by Persian and Arab pirates as the island had no way of protecting agricultural and unfortified settlements.
In the Byzantine era these Persians and Arabs (many of whom were also Arabic speaking Syriacs) were Hellenised and today call themselves "Greek".
Cyprus produces very good potatoes (and other starchy root vegetables) which was a sought after commodity in Egypt.
Traders between the Byzantine Empire and Egypt often transited in Cyprus to stock on crops and they also traded slaves who more often than not were Nubians from Southern Egypt.
For this reason many Greek Cypriots are noticeably darker than Greeks on mainland Greece where Slaves and farm workers were mostly brought in from campaigns with the Slavs and Avars.
Contrary to what many people think there was very little mixing between Turks and Greeks in Cyprus which is why members of the two communities do not resemble each other.
All the best and I wish to say I absolutely love Turk Cypriots.
They are friendly, hospitable, a lot less materialistic than 'Greek' Cypriots are and they also take themsleves less seriosuly (i.e they are less concerned about image
and more into enjoying life).
We got Senegal in common! We are cousins 😂
Yeah bro maybe your 4% Senegal has some link to my 1% ancestor
I have 3% Senegal, lol
Ancestry Daha gerçekçi olmuş kardeş değil mi?
Evet kardesim daha specificdir myheritagedna’e gore
Haha i am italian and have 5% cyprus we are cousins 😂😂
😂 Nice one
Brasilian face....
Hahah I get that a lot
