My favorite bit was when he basically goes "An entire division was completely annihilated down to the last man without achieving ANYTHING whatsoever, not even wounding an enemy combatant. Acceptable losses!" This has to be parody at this point, right? That is a scene I would expect in Space Balls but not any serious kind of show.
@oXRaptorzXo An acceptable loss generally means that at least something was gained. Thrawn didn't gain anything. The assignment was ruined, and he lost a bunch of troops in the process. How is that acceptable?
He lost half of the 50 or so Stormtroopers that were sent to kill them some of them retreated and made it back onto the gunship. To put that in perspective, an ISD has 10,000 stormtroopers on it. Granted, it's possible that over the course of a decade, it suffered a good deal of attrition and casualties. So let's say they took 60% casualties in the time between the Battle of Lothal, and now. That still means he has 4,000 Stormtroopers on the Chimaera, so 25 (give or take) stormtroopers to accomplish his goal of keeping them busy so they couldn't interrupt the cargo transfer isn't really all that bad. Even if you want to make those numbers even worse for Thrawn, and say he lost more of the assault force, and lost even more stormtroopers in his time there, it doesn't matter. He lost troops because Baylan Skoll betrayed him. He couldn't have known that was going to happen, and he still was able to make the most of the situation. Don't get me wrong, the show is mediocre at best, but this isn't the right hill to die on. If you have a better idea of what he should've done, by all means, enlighten me, but for all the faults of the show, and that battle being completely brain dead, Thrawn's reaction to it was not one of those faults.

That guy doesn't even resemble Thrawn, therefore making him non-canon to Timothy Zahn's Grand Admiral Thrawn from the Expanded Universe which is the true Star Wars character.
I've said as much online, too, but them others insist he's not meant to be that version of Thrawn but the version that Zahn crafted for that newer trilogy of books. I read the first one of those, didn't care for it, and never returned.
I hate this idiotic version of thrawn. Why is he a fat old guy? Why does he have red iris' and not full red eyes? Star wars is a turd going down the drain.
The best part about Thrawn's "Plan" is how he briefly gloats how his plan is a success because Ashoka and company are distracted by the assault and is thus giving him time to charge his ship with the Night Sister casket thingies, we see he's 83% percent done with the task... Then he litterally IMMEDIATELY gives the order for his troops to retreat right in the middle of the fight , when they have Ahsoka and company essentially surrounded too... So every single soldier bails out after a loud nuclear blast alarm sounds off, clearly telling the heroes that they are planning to warp out of there super soon... This is after thrawn clearly stated that both Dark Jedis and his two ships of troops are expendable too, so WHY the hell doesn't he let them fight the heroes to keep them occupied till the ship is 100% loaded and gone... Or at least 98% loaded or something... Thankfully the heroes are so stupid that instead of realising the enemy just gave the order for all their troops to retreat because they're about to leave the planet, they spend like 45 minutes having small talk and maknig friends with the crab people instead of running to Ashoka's ship and following the stormtroopers that are speeing back to the base not to be left behind in the other dimension... And people say Filoni is a genious and he is "Saving Star Wars"...

Despite the fact that the main characters will probably not be stranded, in their current situation it doesn't matter if Thrawn kills them right now or not, they should be dead of old age before they get off that galaxy, the space whales abandoned them. The reverse grip worked for Starkiller, because he had fluid motion and often wound up or used grappling attacks to give him more leverage and impact. Ahsoka uses it to weakly parry highly-telegraphed attacks and NOT give a whirling slash despite being open to do so several times while fighting Evil Santa. She seriously had his saber up over his head or knocked off to the side and there was nothing stopping her from stabbing or slashing him, but she either did nothing or elbowed him in the gut. Whoever does their fight choreography could probably lose a stick fight to a 5 year old.
Yeah the choreography in this leaves a WHOLE LOT to be desired. Funny that the best shit in the whole series is when Ahsoka was portrayed in the clone wars kicking ass. That was some pretty decent choreography and imo she made good use of that reverse grip in that sequence. Kudos to Ariana Greenblatt not only for her physical capabilities but she really nailed it when she was portraying real in depth emotion in the flashbacks. Talented girl.
The show has lifeless characters, you'd have to know everyone from the Rebels and the Clone wars to care about them. Any casual fan doesn't care about them at all because no writing was done to make anyone care, but Thrawn being an idiot is the worst crime of them all.

I really don’t understand everyone’s love fest with Baylon. He has recycled Sith Lord motifs, an order 66 background, is more of a vehicle for vague exposition, but nothing personal about him is revealed. In storytelling the emotional wound of the character is usually highlighted in the character introduction so that every subsequent scene can have a specific emotion fitted to that character. But none of the characters, including Baylon, have such a literary device.

You watching the sho or just watching social media videos about it? Also, that is not even an accurate take on "the rules of storytelling." How fffkng boring it would be if anytime a character was introduced in any piece of fiction, and they immediately have to give backstory on their trauma. I kinda agree, but maybe he wanted to give Sabine a fighting chance Because she is really bad with blasters despite being a freaking Mandalorian and propably Ezra could sense that she cannot even use the Force That is why Erza was baffled when Sabine told that she is Ahsoka's apprentice
If Ezra had simply said "keep it you'll need it more than me", it would have made some sense. He wanted her to keep it for her own safety. The fact that he didn't was probably for intersectional reasons. Can't have a woman being shown to be weak and requiring help from a man, no matter how superficial.

How is it that this video is 100x more entertaining and intelligent than the actual show it is based on? I hope the writers of this show worked on their skills when they were on strike, but somehow I don’t think they are even aware of how terrible they are.
I can already guess the finale, Sabine broke down after realizing her mistake to have betrayed everyone in order to find Ezra, then Ashoka recalled Anakin teaching her that such is the price of war, justifying Sabine's action was done out of love, then Sabine rose up and become Rey 2.0,🤭
Ezra is going to end up being too toxic and masculine for Sabine to handle, and he will be made to start the next villain arc. I could be wrong though because he’s played by a diverse actor..im not sure if he’s diverse enough to be safe from the trashing..but he is a Male, so maybe he will be thrown to the wolves. Sabine will end up realizing that Ezra is just too weak of a boy for her liking, and she will awaken to her true urges to be with a strongk woman..which will be the green girl or Ashoka. Ezra will turn out to be a helpless crackhead who is begrudged and paranoid, and he will abandon them when they need him most. So Thrawn releases Sabine to track down Ezra, who has somehow eluded Thrawn and his army of hundreds of stormtroopers for a decade despite roaming a short distance away. In the same episode Thrawn also has the witches use their abilities to sense Forcing using Ahsoka's location so they can fire on her. ... Ezra is a Force user. If the witches can detect where other Force users are all the way out in space, how the hell were they unable to find Ezra in a decade of being trapped on the same planet where the only other lifeforms are non-humanoid, non-Force using creatures? Ezra should stand out both physically and by his Force presence like a sore thumb. Bloody brilliant. This on top of relying on the idea that Sabine will somehow have better luck finding Ezra than him. If this was EU Thrawn, he'd know Sabine wouldn't be able to because Thrawn would have explored every option to accomplish that task. If he failed, Sabine would have a infinitesimal chance at succeeding. In this show, Thrawn's plan relied entirely on pure luck, which he'd never bank on. Not with the risk Sabine now posed to him. And he certainly didn't make any promises or deals with Sabine to keep him from shooting her down the moment she interrupted him. Thrawn doesn't even put a tracking device anywhere on Sabine before she leaves, and he even returns everything she needs to fight back (including her impervious Beskar armor and lightsaber) against the Sith he sends after her to kill her when she finds Ezra. All when they could just blow her and Ezra up from a ship or something. Also, how was Thrawn going to know when she found Ezra or not? Was he just going to have the Sith wasting their time tracking her forever until she got lucky and stumbled onto Ezra? That could have taken months, years, or never, for all his plan assured. Thrawn isn't a master tactician. He's a fake and a conman. He has everyone fooled. Fortunately for Thrawn, everyone else is stupid, too.
I really wish thrawn would've left every one of these awful filoni fiction characters in this separate galaxy Would explain a lot as to why they are never seen or mentioned in GEORGE'S story.
Well, my guess for the next episode is, that we will learn Thrawn is a genius after all and that in fact, he didn't want to kill Ezra, he just needed to preted so, because he needs the witches to get him back to the known Gallaxy. That's why he will play an idiot one more time so Ezra can get back too and after that's done, Ezra will proclaim himself to be a transgender and they will run away to be Emperor and Empress, leaving behind Sabine, Ahsoka and angry witches. But pissing off witches and strong women is a bad idea, so the Filoni's movie is going to be about temporary alliance of angry women who decide to take down the Emperor Thrawn and Empress Ezra. I am just not sure if Ezra will regret his (her) actions in the end or not. 🤪
I can only guess that Sabine will use force powers by the next episode when Dave Felony demands it. And Sabine wasn't even written to be a Jedi in the first place

My favorite bit was when he basically goes "An entire division was completely annihilated down to the last man without achieving ANYTHING whatsoever, not even wounding an enemy combatant. Acceptable losses!"
This has to be parody at this point, right? That is a scene I would expect in Space Balls but not any serious kind of show.
They completely destroyed thrawns character
Of course, they were acceptable. Thrawn was trying to rack up the first loser streak in history. Wasn't that obvious?
“Oh no not 20 stormtroopers? We’re lost for sure” like dude, it’s not that many he losy
@oXRaptorzXo
An acceptable loss generally means that at least something was gained.
The trope for those who are wondering that Disney seems to perpetuate over and over again in this show, is known as “protagonist centered mortality.”
Interesting, thanks for the info!
Exactly!
Unofficially known as "It's ok when we do it"
I would argue the trope being used is "The unfair sex". Since its not that they're the protagonists, but its that they're women.
@@Ergeniz Probably a little of both, they're the protaganists of this show, but they're also all women. And therefore are always right and moral and all that shit.
@ELeeZimmermanSciFiHistoryNet Canon book Thrawn is the same character as Legends Thrawn in my opinion.
@@ELeeZimmermanSciFiHistoryNetthat was a good book.
He has the voice for Thrawn though as shown in the Rebels. I think he's alright, just needs to be written properly.
I hate this idiotic version of thrawn. Why is he a fat old guy? Why does he have red iris' and not full red eyes? Star wars is a turd going down the drain.
More excited for these videos than the actual episodes of Ahsoka.
I wish they could all just become stranded in this stupid galaxy, so they cant ruin more of georges story. That would actually make a lot of sense lol.
Considering that in the 9 movies, none of these filoni fiction characters are mentioned once.
@@manz7860 just wait till Filoni release his "remastered version" of OT, replacing Luke, Han and Leia with Ashoka, Master Chief, I'm sorry, Rex, and Hera.

Ah yes, blue elon will be infinitely more intelligent if he throws in words like "wisely" and "strategically" into his actions. Brilliant beyond compare!
What's your point? His point was sound. Killing them would have been a great bonus, but the main goal was to get the cargo loaded onto his Star Destroyer and get out, leaving anyone not on the Eye of Scion stranded in the new galaxy. Despite the fact that the main characters will probably not be stranded, in their current situation it doesn't matter if Thrawn kills them right now or not, they should be dead of old age before they get off that galaxy, the space whales abandoned them. If you have a problem with my analysis, by all means, share it, but it's not an indictment of his actions just because he used "Strategically" in one of his sentences.
@@gamercornelius348 Because Ezra and Sabine have stopped Thrawn before in Rebels S4. Leaving them alive is risky because they are significant threats to him. Any semi-competent leader would know that they should tie up any loose ends whenever possible. The show keeps telling us that Thrawn is a genius and a massive threat to the SW universe, yet they've failed to show us why he is those things. Almost every single one of his plans has utterly failed so far.
"Any man who says I am the king is no true king"
@@marwana4834 Ill grant you that. He probably should've gotten wise to the fact that you should just shoot them when you have the chance, but there was a plan there. A plan that would have worked if Baylan didn't betray him. And yeah Rebels and now this show does a pretty piss poor job of showing Thrawn as a credible threat, which is why I tell people to just read the Heir to the Empire Trilogy, Thrawn Alliances and Treason, and the Ascendancy Novels instead of the garbage that Filoni tries to pump out. But even if Thrawn's portrayals are lackluster, I still won't abide by midwits trying to claim that not wasting starfighters chasing Ahsoka through a ring of whale bones, or that pulling troops out of a losing fight were poor tactical decisions. Thrawn is, and should be a threat, but Filoni lacks the intelligence to write him as one, and Zahn lacks the backbone to stand up to him and Disney and tell them what a piss poor job they're doing. They should have just used Heir to the Empire as a script, instead of making the Walmart Great Value Brand version of it.

Fuck Dave filoni, dude is the reason why (atleast in part) why the old expanded universe is gone, he started it by ignoring and burying the old clone wars comics before his shitty cartoon
I legit think the writers were trying to make Huyang be annoying like C3PO was... but instead, he comes across as the only one making sense.

The show has lifeless characters, you'd have to know everyone from the Rebels and the Clone wars to care about them. Any casual fan doesn't care about them at all because no writing was done to make anyone care, but Thrawn being an idiot is the worst crime of them all.
as a cw/ rebels fan i definitely hate the characters now; they all regressed.
I’m a fan of clone wars and rebels and I care nothing for these characters, they don’t feel the same. It’s garbage I don’t watch this show because I want to, only because I want to see what Dave Biloni cooked up this week.
But none of the characters, including Baylon, have such a literary device.
this show could have potential but its was wasted
@@VonJay " In storytelling the emotional wound of the character is usually highlighted in the character introduction so that every subsequent scene can have a specific emotion fitted to that character."
LITERALLY being hunted and being done with the old Jedi vs Sith shit that killed everyone he cared about and him running for his life for decades. Are you really that daft? You watching the sho or just watching social media videos about it?
Also, that is not even an accurate take on "the rules of storytelling." How fffkng boring it would be if anytime a character was introduced in any piece of fiction, and they immediately have to give backstory on their trauma. You would all complain about that too, rightfully so in that case as it is the opposite of engaging storytelling.

The fact that Ezra, the actual trained jedi, decided not to reclaim his lightsaber from Sabine is the dumbest crap I've ever seen. They are about to be slaughtered by stormtroopers and a wannabe sith apprentice and decides to fight unarmed.
They were really pushing hard to make Sabine the protagonist and its getting embarrassing
I kinda agree, but maybe he wanted to give Sabine a fighting chance
Because she is really bad with blasters despite being a freaking Mandalorian and propably Ezra could sense that she cannot even use the Force
That is why Erza was baffled when Sabine told that she is Ahsoka's apprentice
If Ezra had simply said "keep it you'll need it more than me", it would have made some sense. He wanted her to keep it for her own safety.
I really wish thrawn would've left every one of these awful filoni fiction characters in this separate galaxy
Would explain a lot as to why they are never seen or mentioned in GEORGE'S story.
