I just got a BCL 102 MK7 FDE. The MK7 is around 1800 with tax and everything but they seemed to have fixed the issues and re designed a lot. I haven't heard any complaints about the new one. I am happy to support a gun made here in Ontario.
Seems that there are still a good volume of complaints evn about the MK7: www.reddit.com/r/canadaguns/comments/g5ls7p/black_creek_labs_a_caper_of_trash/
@@Huntinggearguy That was the first time I heard that. Calgary shooting centre did a review on their's, they said it was awesome. They shot nothing but hirtenburger ammo out of and had no malfunctions in their 300 round review
Looks like it has an AR-15 buffer tube and shorty buffer. The stove-piping is likely from that. Use a proper Armalite buffer tube and H3 AR-15 buffer, that will make the recoil much better and slow the action down to avoid out-running the mag causing stove-pipes.
Great review. Ive wanted one of these since they came out. But im gonna have to pass on it. I know it's not even in the same category (because it's restricted) but what do you think of the Sig 716 patrol?
I have a v1.1 and it has had some issues. I guess I should contact them for some service. And yes, the front is silly heavy. I will work on it and compare it against a Stag 10.
Il pick one of these up one day. I never owned a firearm this "modern" I collect old rifles. BUUUT I do have an appreciation for the tactical side. Honestly, my rifles usually dont stay stock for long so I think il be OK. The only thing that is bothering me is that it looks kinda ddark green like you said. Pictures dont make it seem like that, and the ejection issues... I can deal with stocks and dust covers....
I own one and if you don't shoot the shittiest ammo with low pressures like core-lokt you'll be gtg. And of course one could always switch out the ejector pin for a flush one or a standard one for like $12 and be really gtg.
Buddy of mine has one of these. Shoots well, and doesn't have any of these problems, and loves it. Older version of the it as well, as he has had it for over a year. Maybe build quality is going down as they are getting into newer models?
the dust cover popping open minor fix there is a small alen screw at the bottom of the ball on the dust cover put a little tension by adjusting the screw and good as new i changed mine out to strike industries and way better
I've run lots of different ammo through my gen III and I have not had an issue what so ever with stove piping. it is too heavy though and I would agree with you on that. I put a red dot on it for hunting in Haliburton. For me it is a short range semi and fun to shoot. If I wanted to reach out and touch I wouldn't choose a semi.
I would hold off. I'm still hearing of people having issues with them. The Troy 102 is supposed to be decent for the price, and I just picked up a Matrix Aerospace build kit from Maple Ridge that is very nice.
The Hunting Gear Guy okay.. the Troy 102 i heard about it but i can’t find it anywhere where can i buy one? Im from quebec and its even more hard here to lay our hands on good guns and price
dang. sell it. iirc nea and bcl merged in some way. i hope you finally get to enjoy you rifle with no deep seeded doubts. i chose a bolt for precision, i can't afford to mod my mia platform to beat it. that being said. i'm currently in the process of piecing together a stag 10, got the upper and lower. going with a 12.5 inch build since i only shoot to 300 yards, and wanted a fungun lol. i won't explain the physics, but at 100 yards a barrel configuration in 12.5 should be .5 moa with premium factory rounds. well done video, thanks for the review.
Can anyone tell why the prices of the non-restricted AR style rifle are almost the price of a restricted model? Can 2 extra inches in lenght make such a big difference in the price? To me, these set prices are so dumb because if they were a bit more affordable, many people would go out and buy one since you would not need all the pains and restrictions restricted rifles put on you.
It's not just the barrel lenght, you need a non AR15 variant design. That usually means a new design, and local manufacturers will only make a new design if they can sell it at a premium.
My gen 2 had dead gas rings out of the box. Emailed support got repair kit in 5 days. I want to love it but its but its buggy still. Gonna grow Popeye arms after couple more range trips
tim bit I was planning to pick one of these up. I’m very new to this scene. Would you recommend that I get something else ? I was going to get this from Cabella-Or is the reliability issue really that bad for a noobie like me?
Great video thanks. I would never spend that much on a rifle that you can't customize. I think that thing should be priced with the Omni Hybrid Maxx at $600.
on mine, the charging handle kept smacking me in the nose. Poor heat treatment of the charging handle hooks, too soft. A new charging handle and all was well.
NSTS Canada was planning to pick one of these up. I’m very new to this scene. Would you recommend that I get something else ? I was going to get this from Cabella-Or is the reliability issue really that bad for a noobie like me?
I just bought the MK7 and took it out for the first time today and after 20 rounds. It started falling to eject and jammed many times. I'm very disappointed in the gun as it was stated that they fix the issue on the MK7 has anyone had the problem?
There have been some complaints on Reddit saying the same. We talked about gun reliability on the latest Slam Fire video: ruclips.net/video/EXCqc23TBYU/видео.html
I got the BCL15 lower and upper as a mystery package from TNA for my first AR. I can't even put in the screw for the ambi bolt release. It goes in 2 threads and then gets stuck. And I can't identify the issue because it's so damn small.
If it's like mine is than you may need to run a 4-40NC tap through it to clean the threads up. Mine had buggered threads on the part where it cut into the angled portion of the receiver .
bcl really messed these rifles up. NEA started off on the right note and then the 2nd and 3rd gens came out with all kinds of problems. My 1st gen works flawlessly and im about 1000 rounds in now, It eats up dirty norinco ammo and can get sub MOA accuracy with some hunting ammo. I havent even tried match grade yet
@@Huntinggearguy just want a non-restricted black rifle. Do you have any recommendations on something else in that price range? Would appreciate your insight on this!
Cris Ross The BCL or Stag 10 are great NR hunting rifles, with that said neither are a great choice for dumping a lot of lead or doing “run and gun” type shooting. 308 is very expensive and they have a ton of recoil. Modern Sporter will be alot more than even a Stag, but you will make the money back in a year by shooting the cheaper 5.56nato. You could also look at the CZ Scorpion Evo with 18.6” barrel, the gun is only $1400 and 9mm Luger is the cheapest of the 3 to shoot.
Better than Savage Canada which has my rifle for over 7 months. They have had it longer than I have. Once I'm getting it back, its gonna be sold. Fuck Savage.
AR rifles don’t need a forward assist. The only reason Colt puts a forward assist on their rifles is that their biggest customer requires one, (The US military) otherwise they wouldn’t. The whole idea of a forward assist is counterintuitive. Typically you DO NOT want ammo that needs to be jammed into the chamber... ...jammed into the chamber by a forward assist.
And the flap cover ,just hold it out of the way when you close it! i know you are trying to cover all aspects of the gun, but really? how lazy can you get ,To worry about the dust cover being in the wrong position to just slam it closed, you shouldn't slam it closed anyway! Wow! you had to use your finger..Just amazes me how everyone wants pure perfection on everything these days..Spoiled public.
Thanks for this. It helped make up my mind. I think I'll build a STAG over a few months. It might cost a bit more, but probably worth it.
Was it?
Thanks man. Trying to decide on a non restricted rifle and nice you have reviewed alot of the rifles I have been looking at. Thanks!
Oh how the times have changed
Thanks for the video. There has been a lack of quality vid of this platform
I think the reason its non restricted is because its NOT an AR platform

Sure? It's inexpensive and it works.
notice you purposely closed the lower on the dust cover right before you had your problem as well. So don't mess around with it before you close it.
the dust cover popping open minor fix there is a small alen screw at the bottom of the ball on the dust cover put a little tension by adjusting the screw and good as new i changed mine out to strike industries and way better
Have you had a chance to try the MK7? Heard they addressed all the issues. A Tavor is out of reach of my wallet for now.
Very good information, however so many Cons. Good luck in future. Bcl needs more due diligence for potential customers. Old dad smyrna Tennessee

The dust cover died while the guns being reviewed lol ....not good , but it does have one the wk180c has nothing
Not died, just got very sick for a little bit. You can tighten those back up with an allen key.
I hope that the upcoming SRV2 doesn't share the same QC issues.
oh, and try to change the dust cover - nightmare to change

I’m still trying to get over Canadian rifle prices yet alone the issues.
They're now prohibited, so you don't have to worry about either of those anymore.
When you break your dust cover in your house doing a review 😂
Adjustment screw needs to be turned down. Worse problems throw that stock away they are lose as shit .
I’ll admit that dust cover hurt my feelings a little.

Change your extractor
Please do a Stag 10 review
Have these issues been addressed in the MK7 or IS this the MK7?
Nope just took my mk7 out for the first time after 20 rounds it started to fail jammed and didn't eject properly. So disappointed
I'm looking for a Lower Receiver for my BCL 102- do you happen to know who sells them?
No idea who has those in stock at the moment
Great video thanks. I would never spend that much on a rifle that you can't customize. I think that thing should be priced with the Omni Hybrid Maxx at $600.
TROY would be my first affordable choice Stag second the BCL MK7 looks promising. time will tell I guess.

Would you recommend the BCL 102 or the Modern sport?
The Modern Sporter is in 556, while the BCL is in 308. I'd go for the Modern Sporter if those are the two you're looking at.

Fuck bought one today without checking out reviews first, haven’t shot yet
If they were below 850$ it would be better because then you might get what you pay for.
Sounds like its cheaper to move to the States
these are junk dont buy.
