Man, that boy can sing. Loved Squeeze for 30 years.
Why doesn't this have more views? Squeeze is such a great group of musicians - maybe underrated - and Glenn Tilbrook has the most beautiful voice live.

I'm qualified to say that this is a GEM of a pop song for all decades! The first time I heard it on the radio I had to go run and get my bass hooked up before it was over...then the DJ didn't say anything about the song/band, and life happens, and so for decades, it remained unknown to me But the organ intro is killer with the economy of motion, unlike the chord vocabulary of the piece with 21 used plus ii V turnarounds and that neato e minor color lick at the end of the chorus. Bass line pulse = dancing! And then the story & text: "I said to my reflection, let's get out of this place...' A+ grade
Yeah the changes are incredible! Intro is a B7 kinda thing. VS is B Maj and that whole first inversion II chord leading into the IV with the half step bass resolution.
It’s not easy writing a simple melody over such changes!

Squeeze was great, though I've never really listened to them. But I know how beloved and talented they are. I love Neon Trees and Tyler so much. Tyler has come out of his Excommunication with palpable energy. I hope that means we get a new NT album soon! Ex was great but I still miss the band and more upbeat, rock bops!

Who? Oh, her....Let me summarize....Tyler sucks....energy or not.....
The old guy's a good singer. If I saw him perform at a local venue i'd enjoy myself, jam out, and leave feeling good, but unless he had some song that really spoke to me I doubt i'd buy his cd or even remember him in the long haul. Tyler on the other hand is amazing. Let me summarize I used to think being a singer was one of the lamest things one could ever be. Then one day I came across Tylers Solo album excommunication. Singing is now my life. Even if you don't like him here or on Neon Trees I recommend giving his solo album or at least the cover of Born to Run he did with Afrojack a shot. Both show more sides of his singing then this or his NT stuff and he shows a lot of surprising range as a musician on his solo album. Also if you like epic guitar solos there's one at the end of his song shameless that's pretty sweet.
