    Brilliant instruction. Bought one of these from Lidl and been looking at it on the shelf for a few months wondering how it worked. Now good to go. Thanks so much.

    Absolutely brilliant. Thanks very much. I probably wouldn’t have been able to use it without your demo. The instructions I got with my Aldi one are absolutely ****!

    Thank you for your helpful video. I thought you had to take the chain off and turn it around to sharpen the alternate teeth, so now I know we only have to change the relevant angle between left and right on the dial.

    Just bought one of these from Lidl, what, 40 years after this was made, hasn't changed a bit and only a fiver dearer at£20. Greetings to Swad, improved a lot in recent years.

    I just got my Grizzly chainsaw sharpener looks exactly like yours. Super easy to use and far more precise/quicker than sharpening by hand. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Nice video. I just picked up a basic sharpener like this and this is the best video I've seen so far. The one I got has pretty much the same range of adjustments as yours and came with both size grind wheels. A bit too much plastic for my tastes but I am not going to be sharpening chains more than a few times a year at most.

    I'm so pleased I came across your channel to which I have just subscribe to. I have the same sharpener as you have so this proved to be the perfect place to learn how to use the sharpener for my cheap screwfix titan chain saw. When replacing the chains after they cant be sharpened anymore, what make of chain would you recommend and those to avoid buying. I appreciate that dearer may not always mean better quality ? Happy to be guided by you as I have no real idea of what's good and what's bad..

      Hi Terence and thankyou. I personally use Oregon blades and chains simply they work well on my Spear and Jackson chainsaw.

      @@Mids1970 Many thanks for the tip on blades and chains. After watching your video, I set my tool up and sharpened two of my chains and to say I was over the moon with the result is an under statement. I was buying replacement chains until I saw this handy device in Lldl and for the money they were asking, I knew I could not go wrong. All I needed was to be shown how to set it up and to start sharpening by spare chains which I did very successfully this evening thanks to you. 👍👍👍

    Ta muchly. Only thing that bothers me would be putting my hand in to advance the chain while the wheel is still spinning. I'm the type of person who burns the back of their hand taking stuff out from under the grill.

    • @JC-zw9vs

      Just given it a try. I found that by pulling the chain where it hangs down on either side I can index it forward without putting my hand underneath. Thanks again!

    Hi there sorry to ask but I am a little slow, when you say just clip the tooth you mean just catch the edge taking the min off to get the angle? also depth I am confused, sorry to sound daft I have high funtctioning Autism but once I have got something it stays. Also my dad was on about depth guage and filing burs off after sharpening. I have used a Black and Decker electric and it has a low profile chain and needs sharpening, just bought my first stjil and the new chain wants doing Many Thanks for your time Ian, alrewas Staffs

    • @Mids1970
      @Mids1970  2 года назад

      Yes take the minimum off to make the chain last through many sharpenings. I say depth But by that I mean the height of the tooth you don't want to cut into the chain below the tooth. As for burs there are hardly anything left after sharpening

      @@Mids1970 I mean the little piece on the chain that only lets the chain cut so much. Everyone calls it something different. Maybe rakers?

    • @Mids1970
      @Mids1970  3 года назад +1

      @@danlux4954 I've not discussed that primarily because taking any off them increases the depth of cut and increases kick back.

      Then jyst as I suspected you don't have a clue what your doing your taking off way to much material when you make your grind . You do file the makers down as you sharpen the chain more . That or your teeth won't reach the wood while cutting . if you notice and know what your doing you will see the tooth slopes downward from front to back . that means eventually as you sharpen the chain without ever adjusting the rakers your tooth won't reach the wood. This is best done if you are new to this to buy a raker gauge and file . look up a video about raker adjustment and follow accordingly . you will eventually catch on how to adjust the rakers with your machine . this is not the best of machines to work with get yourself a Oregon clone would be much better than this and spend the money for a CBN grinding stone .. Thus guy is burning the crap out of the teeth. To much heat and your chain would loose the temper. There is a guy that calls himself the spanner man I think is his name he's about the best demonstration of the use of these machines on you tube the rest on her know next to nothing.

      It is a shame that Parkside items are going to increase in price they have been my staple of product for several years. Hope you get as much use out of your sharpener as i have ;)
