DIY Kitchen Drawer Organizer: Two Methods!

  • Hey Everyone! Stay till the end for the second method!
    We all buy them. Those plastic dividers and organizational trays that are supposed to help us get all of our stuff arranged and in order. What we don't see is after we put them in, they end up wasting space and not really helping. Now, we have a lot of stuff in this drawer as our kitchen is on the smallish size, but we want to get the most out of the space.
    So, I chose to make new dividers in the drawer and get as much space as we could. I chose to use my shop and the equipment at hand, but you can easily make this divider with 1/4" plywood and a jigsaw. Stay tuned to the end to see the easy way! Simply measure out the thickness of your material and carefully cut to your line and test the fits as you go. I always cut just past the overall width of my pieces to ensure that the joint seats together nicely.
    Thanks to all of you for the support along the way!

    Diy with a nice table saw, planer and band saw. If you have those tools, you don’t need RUclips.

    Thanks for the tip on using the jigsaw for making the half lap joints 👍🏻 I got a bunch of 1/4 plywood laying around and wasn’t sure how to join them, since they’re too thin for metal fasteners.

    I have just about as many tools as you do but never have the time to clean and organize it all. So much time wasted on so much potential. Nice set up.

      Michael Saffold I'm doing my own kitchen cabinets & pull outs as well! This is what I want but it's too intricate. I have get to buy a planer, sled, and bandsaw. Guess it's on the "to get list" now after seeing this! Nice work!!

    Did you build the table saw sled? Are there plans? It looks like you used Kreg parts. I saw the newer sled you made. But this one may fit my skill level better. Thanks for your great videos?

      Awesome! They are my favorite layout tools! They come in 3”,6”, and 8” and you can also get the TS rulers which are bigger but just as good with all the incremental holes for layout. 👍🏻❤️

    What brand of drum sander do you use?

    • @CReevesMakes

      It’s the Laguna Supermax 16-32. I wish I would have bought the 19-38. This one is fine and works great, just wish I went bigger as some of my projects have been outside the size footprint of this one.

    After all that work it still looks the same..."A messy drawer" You should had made more compartments, so items could be a little more separated. Also, while I telling you what you should have done, let me just say you should have used 1/4" Oak for the separators/spacers.

    • @CReevesMakes
      @CReevesMakes  3 года назад +2

      Granted, I am no pro at putting the stuff away or arranging the drawers in a particular manner. I did so exactly what we wanted to do, get more space per area of each compartment. We gained depth, length, and width in all of them and my wife and I didn’t want to add more compartments as it’s already a “busy” drawer. If we had more drawers to separate all of these items out into, then I could see a better system. This is perfect for what we want. Can I ask, why oak forest the spacers? Just curious. I had this ash as leftover so it suited my needs perfectly. Thanks for the feedback. 👍🏻
