I'm interested in seeing a series talking about more "teen" fashions, as I'm for example a 16 year old romantic, but all the "tips" for fashion are very... Idk, not my style? Like I don't like flowy boho dresses, so maybe seeing more teen fashions and trends in one video, would be interesting!
(love ur work BTW
Totally agree
This is where understanding more about lines rather than garments is important. Kibbe has said this system is more for older women as well, and younger women should be exploring fashion on their own.
But if you’d like to learn more about lines, go to Merriam Style.
@@quicampbell8415 I love MerriamStyle, she does an excellent job
I feel your pain. I would do anything to go back in time and tell my 16 year old self Kibbe knowledge. Your first advantage is you know you're just different body type from many of your friends and you don't have to get through the cycle of trying to mimic them, look terrible and than think: maybe if I lost some weight I could be like other girls. I don't know what subcultures are nowadays. Mostly I see casual, sporty style among teens. What's on trend works for romantics. Cropped top shows off waist, helps with proportions (torso to leg ratio). Skinny jeans, that are on the out work great and they're going to be replaced by flares, that are again great for us. Hoodies are a bit tricky, so maybe choose one without that front pocket on a belly. I was healthy weight teen and looked fat in a lot I was wearing because my R body didn't look good in a lot what I got handed down. There are styling tricks (like rolled up sleeves) that would help in such circumstances. If however on top of being R you carry some extra weight, than I really suggest picking some style that will help you look your best, but will give you excuse not to follow trends. Two pop in my mind (you know your generation better, so I'm sure you can experiment within what would be best for now). In my generation it was Gothic with corsets. Nowadays I see a lot of Instagram ladies wearing clothes inspired by an era or decade 40s/50s. I know teens can pull off a lot. The biggest staple of young fashion is probably a T-shirt. Geek culture is still in (Marvel stuff, a lot of NASA for some reason). When choosing a T-shirt check the fabric that it's stretchy and the cut is for women. You don't want to drown in a stiff fabric that hides your curves. I hope that's a bit helpful.
@@JR-sx3gl ahw thank you so much!! I mainly do take a lot of inspo from the 80s and 50s fashion wise, as a goal looking like a little doll with perfect clothes is like a must, but your suggestions actually help a lot-
(no wonder I always looked like shit in oversized hoodies yuck)
Definitely trying to find a good balance in my clothes--I do tend to wear only short skirts, bc they make me more comfortable with myself, so like mini pleated ones and knee high circle skirts, always softer fabrics and dainty prints tho for sure.
I love the examples of Emilia in blazers with 3/4 length sleeves (or sleeves rolled up). It's such a minor change but it makes the whole look so much more harmonious on her body. It's also just very cute and chic looking to me. Thank you for another wonderful video, Aly!
Also, the open neckline makes a huge difference.
Yes, if the sleeves end where the waist is the effect produced is superb!
I love vary clean classic lines and as romantic body type sometimes it's vary hard for me not looking like I wear somebody's else clothes. Very voluptuous soft fabric scarf, small watch, feminine shoes or just soft curls in my hair make miracles for my outfit.
Ooh, yes! A video on 2022 trends and what might work for the body types would be really interesting!
Oh I'm so glad for that! I'm romantic, but I never dress romantically ever. I'm a tomboy and really lazy.
Same hahaha.
High waisted denim jeans are for you, i suspect
Trends seem to be more about fitting in to what is current and may not be right for everyone and are also subject to designers, manufacturers, influencers, and celebrity’s whims where as dressing for type will always make you look your best.
Suit recommendations for romantic types:
Blazers - peplum/cropped hem, low-cut, and roll up sleeves if desired.
Pants - tapered/cigarette style works best when wearing flats. opt for heels if you prefer palazzo style pants.
Blouses - anything you usually feel comfortable in, so long as it fits the cut and colour of the suit!
Video idea: how to do little easy adjustments to clothes to make them accentuate our type more! For example add a belt, crop pants, cuffs, iron/not iron wear blouses open or closed to the top etc…
Wear a belt over the blazer if you are R or TR. I am very into blazers lately and I see what you mean, I always look for some that have some gathering around the waist and are somehow short. I do love peplum and I don't care if it's not on trend. The thing about following your lines is that they will always look amazing make you look your best, so no one will ultimately care if they are the latest tik tok trend or not.
I wish there were more peplum styles available - everything available now seems to only be in plus size.
DK says waist emphasis needs to come from the cut of the garment.
@@lilya7110 garments can be arranged to make waist emphasis. He is a stylist, not a tailor. For example, I can wear a straight, unisex t shirt just on or tuck it in for waist emphasis.
Thank you so much for making this video Aly!!!
I'm a romantic and I have a really hard time finding clothes that follow the romantic recomendations, learning how to balance the outfit is super useful!!!
Can you give us some ideas for where to buy clothes (at different budgets) for each style? I’m a romantic but I feel like most stores are geared towards more dramatic styles because that’s what’s popular right now.
Sezane leans very romantic and detailed/feminine, Rouje, other French brands imo
Yes!
@@katiechasmAnthropologie too!
@@siribaimusic Any Gen Z oriented store as well
This is amazing! Could you consider doing a video on dramatic classic wearing theatrical romantic?
Maybe something like olivia palermo's style ?
I think i am a romantic or maybe theatrical. I love geometric shapes and lines too. This was helpful. Thank you!
a video about Gal Gadot style review would be fine... i think she's a style icon because she respects very well her bodytpe (even if she has done nose plastic surgery ?? but well done anyway)
I don't know if I'm soft natural, romantic, or soft gamine; but I love a belted sweater blazer. Or one button done near the waist. For me I like them as short as can be without nearing the cropped category. Used ones from anthropologie on eBay, that's my thing.
Romantic VS SG: how I learned is do your shoulders extend past your waist (SG) or are they even (R)? Look at a pic of yourself (or in the mirror) from behind, with a short-sleeved top.
@@marah3298 idk if i understand this the way you meant it, but wouldnt the shoulders need to go past the waist for an hourglass figure? which both types can have if i remeber correctly
@@salsadip7453 the shoulders are often straighter than with a TR or an R. They don’t go past the waist, I saw this in a video and I can’t remember where. It was Marilyn Monroe and Evelyn Keyes, Evelyn being typed as SG in the video.
@@marah3298 Thanks for the tip! It's my shoulders, hands, and feet that make me consider soft natural for myself because they seem to have a little width/power.
@@p.b.4464 that’s a sure sign of a SN, does your face match? Sometimes, the face and body don’t match and it leads to confusion.
Honestly the biggest problem I have as a romantic is that most of my best fitting closes are strapless, open back, cropped or mini skirts. And the holiday season pushed me 15 lbs overweight 😭
I’m in the market for sweaters and sweat pants until I get my size back under control lol
As a TR, I get it. “Cigarette pants” aka culottes are great for TR. Even sweatpants of this style, with a cropped or belted sweater, looks great on a TR or R.
I'm a plus size TR. I feel that. (Size 18us!)
Hi Aly, Will you consider making a extention on your *how to be beautiful* video? That was so so useful but what are the other steps? We'd love to know!
Doing the belt over the blazer thing works magic for romantics and classics
I appreciate the work you put into finding examples and photos to guide - along with the descriptions you provide. Thank you.
Aly,
I love the belts and lapels you describe. They look super fun and slimming on me, and I am a theatrical romantic. Jackets can be tricky.
The hair on that person at 0:50 OMG OMGOMG
Extremely helpful, as always! Love your channel! You look so beautiful these days, love! 💚💙💜
Love that bright tone in your hair. It suits you! ❤
4:30 story of my life
Thank you for this video ! ♥️
I'm a TR and today I bought a pair of extra long forest green wide straight leg taylored trousers and two sleeveless tee shirts with shoulder pads. I'm a TR but with a pair of tall heels and tucking the tee into my bra for a cropped effect looks perfect. Without the shoes and the crop top it looks way to frumpy and wide. Definitely some dramatic lines and a lot of width but with the styling tweaks it really looks cool on my petite curvy body
Those pants don't make us any favor. I tried wearing them and EVERYONE told me I looked like wearing my pajamas lmao. Slimmer pants, narrower at the ankle, will make us look more elongated.
Straight leg is not for romantics, even though Aly said straight leg jeans in another video. One of the few times she was wrong. Straight leg pants on petite curvy bodies looks and feels constricted and forced
The way she speaks is sooo Posh💫✨ yet so humble.
Aly!!! I’m a 17 year old soft dramatic, 170cm in height.
I’ve seen the clothes you were recommending for my body type, I like them, but at the same time they all look very dramatic and non casual for my taste.
i feel like if I wear them they would make me look older!
Could you mabye make a video explaining about how you can match modern trends and clothing that will fit my body type, but would still make me look my age?
Thank you!
Really this channel is the best discover this year ❤️❤️ you are brilliant
Yess! More content like this please! Every type when they're not wearing their type's clothes.
Thank you Ally. I think I finally found my style😌
love your videos! would you ever do one on historical fashions?
Very helpful, thank you🦦❤️
Please make more video's like this were types can wear/try different lines from other body types!
You should make one with dramatic undercurrent wearing soft things.
Hi Ally! I really appreciate your videos. Thank you for the useful information that you share. I am a dramatic classic, and I would be interested in a video about which fashion trends work for which body types. I am interested in the Balenciaga hourglass double breasted blazer. I don't know if it would work on me. I am 5 foot 7 inches, for reference.
Your hair color is fabulous!
You look amazing in your outfit !!! 💗💗💗
Aly please, make a video about modest fashion for the body types!
Absolutely love your outfit. 🤩
Im a romantic 100% and anything I wear people stare and shame me. Still Ally is the best!!! The only person made me understand my body because there werent my body types around me so it took me 30 years
I'm a rather conservative person by dress, but my obvious curves are apparent even in a sack dress😑. Unfortunately, it can gather stares and harassment, probably because out of all the body shapes ours is considered "sensual and sexual ".
I've even lost a job of 8 years after filing a sexual harassment report.(they also fired the guy after he was found liable.)
I've just gotten to the point where I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't, so might as well dress how I want.🙃
@@latifx3944 thank you for your comment. I also found out that I was bulimic and trying to come over certain things. Im not handling the sexual harassment and looks well still. Im trying to lose my breasts and my hips so that I do not get shamed. I think I have a deep shame to deal with. But thank you for your comment.
@@latifx3944 im very happy about your courags to dress the way you want. You wont regret it. Very proud of you
Suki Waterhouse's body type?? Natural?
Please aly, i miss your makeup videos, can you do more ? I watch all and you are so good in that
this was so helpful!
Hi Aly!!! I was wondering if you could make a male kibbe type test or make a video of overweight male kibbe types 💖?
I have the hardest time with my specific body proportions as a romantic. I am curvy petite with short legs and a really large chest. My torso is longer than my legs, but most of it is taken up by my girls. So if I wear something to make it look like I have a longer torso, my legs look stubby. But when I wear anything high waisted, I look like a pair of boobs with legs. Does anyone else have this problem or found ways to dress accordingly?
Petite mid waist pants? Preferably cropped. A waist accentuated blouse that is loose in the bust and falls softly on the shoulders. My sister has your body type.
I'm exactly the same 😩
I have the same "problem" and what worked best for me yet is a short sleeved blouse that ends on the navel, paired with a pair of pants that goes from the navel to my knees. This looks best with heels (for a more elegant vibe), but also still works with flat shoes (looks more cute then). What also works quite fine are belted shirt dresses, with space for the chest, but the belted accent on the waist. I hope that helped you or anyone else with that particular figure.
I struggle with casual wear as a romantic. I live in a rural beach side area. I don't want to look over dressed all the time, and i'm am at a loss how to look put together, be warm and not look frumpy. 4'9 Size 16 (12 US?). A lot of petite advice conflicts with romantic or mid size advice.
I found that sweater dresses, shirt dresses and t shirt dresses (no crewneck!) and pant suits work the best for me when it comes to being causal. They look neat, but not overdressed like a ballgown or something.
I NEEDED THIS
Aly please give us some advice for people with large chest 🙏🏻
What about dramatics wanting to look romantic?
YOU SAVED ME!
Beyoncé has a lot of great professional outfit ideas
Talk about soft dramatic please
Hello Aly.. I have the impression that Audery Hepburn is a dramatic classic .... regarding her height and her facial features she can fit there... Can you please review this assumption ?
How can I ask you question about any problem Aly....?I am from Bangladesh..Please repy.
Hi.. Can you pls make a vedio for theatrical romantic wearing natural type
I’m 5 foot and I am 55 trying to figure out a sophisticated but comfortable and a little flirty not sure how to go about making my outfits look like that
Thank you. Is it possible to be romantic and soft natural?
Can you get away with unconstructed / loose clothing? If so, then you might be a natural of some type. If waist definition is very important and you look better in lighter / more delicate fabrics that shows your shape then you might be a romantic. As a romantic I have to be very careful with loose clothing. e.g. I could wear a loose jumper if it was in a light weight soft fabric, but I'd have to pair it with trousers that closely mimicked my leg shape and heels to avoid looking drowned / separate from my clothing.
Looking at what you already know works / doesn't work for you can help with figuring out your type.
Finallyyyy
And I do not wear high heels and I don’t think I ever want to if you can give me some help I’d appreciate it have a great day like I always say keep smiling
I'm still unable to determine m type
Face: my face shape is oblong, I have a bit high cheekbone, softly wide nose, full round lips and round jaw/ jawline, eyes are small but upturned almond shape, I have soft flash on my cheeks and short chin.
Body: I'm very petite (5ft only) with short hand and leg (small hand and feet), a bit board shoulder and large breast, hips are narrow thn my shoulder but some how I have hourglass body and soft body flash. My body look narrow expect my board shoulder. And I look shorter than my actual height.
Weight: Weight mostly collect on my upper body and face become very full.
I'm a romantic afaik, and nipping in at the waist is definitely important for showing my figure. I also have no ass so peplums are always trendy in my world. I have a peplum top that's probably too small for me (it's stretchy tho) but I can't get rid of it bc it hits me perfectly and I will judge all peplum tops against that one.
I can only wear high waisted anything as a short-legged romantic (literally as in nothing else is comfortable/looks good to me)
please do sneakers for the body types
Can romantics be 5’8” with broad shoulders and a full bust?
Would you do a video on sweats/ath-leisure? I’m a theatrical romantic. At this point in my life, especially with WFH, I want to wear sweats, but I always end up looking too sexy (tight outfits) or super frumpy (baggy sweatsuits). How do I find the cute comfortable middle?
I'm like this body shape. Recommend going for maxi dresses, lounge dresses like kaftans with waist strings. They are very comfortable, shapely and still worthy to entertain any unexpected guests. I wear the pajama pants more in colder weather. Even so recommend buying lightweight tunics that you can wear with thin leggings in summer or with thick leggings in winter with cardigans. They are all pretty comfy outfits without feeling too frumpy with sweat pants.
love uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Why I didn't see this?!
Please, make a video about how the body types can wear a hat.
