      Thanks David! SMC-racing.com is where you can find the batteries I'm using. The C rating isn't low - they use actual battery data to derive how the packs will perform. What you're considering low outperforms every other pack I've flown. :)

  • @FFE-js2zp

    That’s a beautiful model. The AB is sweet, including the blue stuff. Great detail and size. I like the 9 blade’s whistle.
    The old F-15 looks pretty geriatric out there. It flies old too, with accelerated stalls rolling the jet hard more like a low performance wing. I don’t think the designers could decide if rate or radius was the future, so they made a jet that does everything well, but nothing great. That’s a bad approach IMO, air to air demands a first place finish or an early separation, not consistently getting on the podium. The pilot needs a lethal advantage, somewhere.
    Even in RC land, you can see how the Viper would keep ripping around the circle in a rate fight, and the F-15 would be stuck rowing it’s draggy big planform wing. Just a matter of time. In 1967, it seems that optimizing big thrust to weight fighters through the two circle fight wasn’t well understood. Could you imagine taking a piston engine two circle, or a weak Gen 1/2 jet?
    A radius fight would be the better option against a modern fighter, but it’s a serious bummer have to cash in all your chips and do everything perfectly for one fleeting squeeze on the gun, or, if the other guy is just as good: to find parity. Then it comes down to who has more gas. No thanks.
    That’s why real world ROE drives 2:1 numbers before accepting a merge. So there goes the more expensive jet idea. Erich Hartmann said, the answer is lots of small single engine fighters. We don’t listen.
    That said, it’s a Striker’s world, today. Dogfighting for sport will (ok, should) get you fired. Gorgeous model.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад +1

      It's definitely an old jet, but it has such an iconic presence to it. I really want to see someone tackle the F-15 ACTIVE and have that set up in radio controlled form. I've considered experimenting with mine to do it - all it needs are F/A-18 stabilators and a pair of servos to control the stab-canards.

    • @FFE-js2zp
      @FFE-js2zp 2 года назад +1

      @@TwoBrosRC
      Yeah the ACTIVE tail number started with 71 which shows how old the Eagle is. Even in the early 90s when they tested this thing, the USAF was already over extreme vectored thrust maneuverability, as the F-117 had secretly revealed the future of aerial warfare: single element strike. The F-35 still has plenty of issues, but the concept was spot on. The F-22 was stillborn at the end of the dedicated A/A Fighter era. Man, the Air Force tried to kill it before production, but like the Grinch, no matter what they did, they could not keep Christmas from coming. The AF finally had to destroy the tooling at 186 built, as the Lockheed-Martin political machine is formidable.
      With the emerging power of USSF, these airplanes are all going to be relegated to airshow duty, sooner than later. It’s almost funny that we always come back to dropping rocks from the high ground. It just gets higher.
      Maybe you could link the existing elevator servos to some canards using the opposite servo arm? Or using another ball on the same arm, if the control surface linkage is on the bottom instead of the top of the stab?
      Basically, the easy button would be to make them swing opposite each other. But it would be more interesting to play with an independent canard channel, or two more channels.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад +1

      I'd have to do some extensive rework to the intakes to make canards function. I'm thinking that I'd have to run servos into the airbrake area for it to work. Not sure it's worth the effort.

    • @FFE-js2zp
      @FFE-js2zp 2 года назад +2

      @@TwoBrosRC
      Those canards have that high dihedral to deposit the high energy vortex on top of the main wing, too. Adds complexity to replicate. But you could always run them as conventional canards, too.
