I am so glad I watched your tutorial. Now it makes sense why my tops aren`t fit so well. I always thought I have cup B and I turned out I am only A. I can`t wait your next tutorial. Thank you again your video. Learning a lot from you!
Yay 😀 really look forward to this, I’ve just done my measurements and my full and upper bust measurements are only 0.25” difference, I’m very flat chested so it makes perfect sense as to why my garments are always too big in this area 😳
This has been so helpful. I have always gone by the underbust/bust difference. But this makes so much more sense. I definitely need to make a small bust adjustment!
Thank you! As usual you are extremely clear in teaching. I wonder if you are planning to propose a tutorial on sway back adjustment to remove the folds that someone (like me) can have using the copen pattern you provide. I did copen in size 1. Thanks
Hi! Your tutorial is the BEST!!! a question though : i make an copy (2) of the original pattern (1) My measurements in the size chart are S on high bust ; XS on the bust ; M on my waist ; When i do the sba, the point of my bust on the xs line, shifted to the left and came out 1/2 cm on the left of the xxs size of (1). So now i dont know how to draw the side lines. Do i need to follow the original pattern point (2) that shifted or follow the line of the pattern (1) of the xs size?
Yes, you have to ignore bra cup sizing, as it is different to the cup size in a pattern. If you think about it the cup volume of a 30 C is different to the cup volume of a 40C, bra cup sizing is based on the band sizing. Glad this could help you. Aneka
@@MadetoSew thank you yes! Ends up on patterns I'm considered an A cup! I'm going to try some adjustments and see what happens. Thanks again for your help!
So interesting. I've been wondering for some time whether I need to do a SBA. Having watched your video, I'm thinking perhaps that I have narrow shoulders, rather than a small bust. I regularly have to take a few centimetres out of the centre front and back of garments to prevent gaping. Does that sound right?
Hi Jenny, yes you may in fact have narrow shoulders instead. You might need to make a smaller size in the shoulders / neck of the garment than the pattern suggests. What size are you shoulders? If you measure from the neck to the end of your collar bone (or draw a line up from your armpit)? What was your cup size based on this video? Do you normally make the big pattern companies (Vogue, Butterick etc.), I personally find they often have large shoulders. Have you tried any independent pattern companies? Have you made my Copen pattern? Aneka x
Hi Sandra, it is tricky, but can be done. I tend to work with the seam allowances on the outside of the garment. I work with a mirror in front of me and work my way around the garment. I would suggest that you fit the whole garment (rather than one side, which is what I would do if I was fitting someone else). Take your time and be patient and have rests, it is quite tiring fitting yourself. Take a look in the mirror and decide what needs changing (always work top to bottom). Then either pin on your body, if you can reach or take the garment off and fit that area then put it back on. Sometimes it's useful to pop a zip in the front of garments to make them quick and easy to take on and off. Hope this helps. Aneka x
I also don't have a fitting buddy and I've spent a lot of time trying to work this out... My best advice is to take pictures or videos (even better) of yourself wearing the test garments you make when attempting to fit yourself. It helps give you a better view of how everything actually looks since you aren't twisting around trying to see it from all the angles. And don't overfit!! Leave yourself some room to move! Aneka's advice about putting a zip in the front and working with the seam allowances on the outside will help you immensely. Cheers!
I wear a B cup or small C cup bra, but the difference between my high bust and full bust is just 1 cm! I finally found the missing piece. Thank you so much
Just because a woman is a larger size does not mean they’re big busted. My bust is 40 I’m 5.3 and always find I have too much fabric and gaping above the bust. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you. Val🇨🇦

Thank you for this! My garments always seem to gap at the neckline....I wear a 34c but according to the high bust measurement Im an A cup!!

Made to Sew. Thanks Aneka. I didn't realise that you do patterns. I'll take a look!
5-29-18 To Made To Sew Do you have any advice on fitting the test garment to myself?
I don't have anyone to help me with fitting or pinning. Thanks

Just what I need. Eager to learn how to do this. Thank you.
Christine Courtney Hi Christine, tutorial will be up on Thursday! Aneka x
What if your upper bust size is larger that your full bust? That's my issue.
Then you probably will want to have no cup size, so you will need to an SBA to take you to an A Cup or maybe even less?
Very thankful for this tutorial. Thanks!
KrimCakes E. Thank you so much. X
