Well, as per Australian NCAP (which requires more active safety features, which also come expensive btw) the Scorpio-N does not have full 5 stars, but under Global NCAP it has been tested with a 5-star rating...so it's a very robust vehicle and it's safe. So on the Moguls it’s not the traction control doing anything - it’s the rear diff auto-locking. Also it did appear to be in one of the modes as when you placed it in 4H there was also a mountain icon lit up on the dash. Saying your not fond of auto lockers - well the Defender you drove in the towing test recently I watched the display and both the centre and rear diffs locked or partially locked without any complaint. The Land Rover system is just so good. And the traction control works within ⅛ of a wheel slip rotation - additionally it doesn’t wait for slip before engaging - mostly it’ll preempt before slip even occurs especially at very low speeds.
Mahindra has decade of off-road expireance. the first car i did off-roading was on Mahindra Marshal, it didn't had any tech but it was very off-road capable
As an Indian, since childhood I had known that whenever you say "Mahindra" you mean "reliable". These vehicles are like a soldier who will keep fighting and defending the territory with every little it has until he is completely destroyed by rocket launchers and bombs.
Hey man! Great video Is the Scorpio N sold in Australia a little different than the one they sell in india? As I own one and the clearance I have been told is 187 mm . The car though has been a joy to live with ❤ Thanks
@@amestrone2941 Well 99% of Indians don't go for off roading with the inbuilt tyres or systems they are usually modified but Even if it's 187 mm there aren't any issues after trying and testing in it's much flexible....
If this had a v6 in it, I think it will sell a lot easier. Off-road 4x4 guys don’t care too much about on road safety and tech etc or they wouldn’t buy Toyotas 🤡😂
@@einfelder8262 no a remap on a tiny engine will only leave it more highly strung reducing reliability. I’d rather a slightly detuned v6 than a highly strung tiny 2.2L. No remap can help that and plus you lose your warranty.
I don't think they will be able to make a reliable v6. They are good with i4 i6. They are a tractor manufacturer by heart and no Indian company had ever desinged a v6 or v8 on their own. Makers like kirloskar have made some but they are low hp high displacement industrial engines. They should instead make the i4 3l or 3.5l i6. Should be making mkre than 500nm tq from a 3l i4 or i6. If they try their hands on v6 or v8 i could be like one of those jaguar landrover v6 v8s 😂.
Mahindra is pride of India 🇮🇳. I never thought Indian cars would get traction in international markets but Mahindra and Tata both are hell bent on this. Amazing review.
You guys should try the old mahindra jeep 4WD which still runs on high rages areas of India . You will be surprised by its performance. And I don’t know why Mahindra still not bringing in the THAR to Australia .
We indians put national pride in every small tini tiney thing. Have you seen german and korean, Japanese guys bombarding comments like this. Also making a good car is not rocket science nowadays... Anyways my and may be his point is let other people notice and say how great Indian engineering is or how great india is no need to drum it everywhere. That shows us as we are desperate for attention and validation. You can disagree with me but look at every other youtube video in which some indian stuff gets praised and then see the comment by Indian peeps.. This doesn't happen with other countries guys.
I think the Australian and South African specs are the same due to rugged off roading in both countries. Mahindra is very popular here and has a reputation for very good value for money and reliability. Regards from South Africa
I think enthusiasts who've been after a Jimny with its inflated price and wait times are going to now consider this. They might rip out the rear seat and turn it into a proper 4WD adventurer. PS. Does anyone know why the payload is so low? Does it have to do with engine stress or the suspension? Same engine on the Mahindra Pikup is known to pull 2.7 tonnes in south africa.
Engine on pickup is tracter derived one and is biased towards torque. While this one here is a new engine has more power with torque, but application is diff.
The thing is Mahindra is new to western countries but it is the most reliable brand here in india for SUVs. It doesn't need to prove itself it is already a proven brand.
I've driven 4X4 a lot in Africa and will usually avoid any slight chance hurting the cars chasis by not driving in overly used wheel tracks that have become gullies almost. That right there is dangerous especially for low clearance vehicles.

This brand has some really raw and reliable cars
Super! Keep it up
I will be waiting for your next review with xuv700
They make tractors as well so the traction control should be good ...no fancy items but will be comfort in riding
They r worldwide No 1 in tractors
Love from India ❤❤❤
I would like to see the mahindra pik up reviewed and run over the same course
It can go upto 600mm of water depth...already tested the mention water depth is not official
As an Indian, since childhood I had known that whenever you say "Mahindra" you mean "reliable". These vehicles are like a soldier who will keep fighting and defending the territory with every little it has until he is completely destroyed by rocket launchers and bombs.
Hey man! Great video
Is the Scorpio N sold in Australia a little different than the one they sell in india? As I own one and the clearance I have been told is 187 mm . The car though has been a joy to live with ❤
Thanks
It's ground clearance is somewhere around 215-225 hear in Australia. 187 is fucking for a SUV Indian are being fooled.
Yh.. I think so too.. I'm really put off by that engine
@@KaranveerSingh97 yea too gutless not just for my liking but for the market demand
Doesn't need a V6, just needs a remap on the2.2 diesel. Bump it up to 500nm, remove the emissions tuning lag out of it, it would be fine.
Great to see Indian cars being recognised outside India
The Pajero Sport doesnt have a 1000 buttons it has the same as the Mahindra, a 4WD selector and an off road mode
I would like to see a direct comparison of the tank 300 and the Scorpio n. They both seem to punch well above their weight.
Mahindra is pride of India 🇮🇳. I never thought Indian cars would get traction in international markets but Mahindra and Tata both are hell bent on this. Amazing review.
Royal Enfield has grown here, and I will be happy if India can do the same in the car market. We love the competition and options!
Does au variant has more ground clearance then Indian variant ? I guess Indian one is 187mm not 220+ for sure
Not bad.
Out of curiosity, what tyre pressure was used for the testing?
Cool. Have you reviewed the mahindra ute some where? Thanks
You guys should try the old mahindra jeep 4WD which still runs on high rages areas of India . You will be surprised by its performance. And I don’t know why Mahindra still not bringing in the THAR to Australia .
Heart of indian boy's. Super. U should once try TATA HARRIYA also
As an Indian my chest swells with pride
Proud of mahindra
Although I like old Scorpio
Please delete this comment
Yea delete it. Your chest sweels. Means u r getting boobies watching this car. 😂
@@xenon6947 why may I ask
We indians put national pride in every small tini tiney thing. Have you seen german and korean, Japanese guys bombarding comments like this. Also making a good car is not rocket science nowadays... Anyways my and may be his point is let other people notice and say how great Indian engineering is or how great india is no need to drum it everywhere. That shows us as we are desperate for attention and validation. You can disagree with me but look at every other youtube video in which some indian stuff gets praised and then see the comment by Indian peeps.. This doesn't happen with other countries guys.
You are so unlucky that you guys can not experience Mahindra Thar in offroad, that beast gonna blow your mind💥💥
Mahindra makes military vehicles for Indian Army in the Himalayan Region, So they know how to make reliable and capable off road vehicles.
I think the Australian and South African specs are the same due to rugged off roading in both countries. Mahindra is very popular here and has a reputation for very good value for money and reliability.
Regards from South Africa
What about the door opening test you always do on the offset moguls
Or was it because it would fail that test ??
Very factually comprehensive analysis😃.
With a decent set of All Terrain tyres that'd be a very capable everyday drive.
IT JUST NEED BIGGER TYRES AND FRONT AND RARE BULLBAR,THATS IT
Engine on pickup is tracter derived one and is biased towards torque. While this one here is a new engine has more power with torque, but application is diff.
It's a Peugeot hdi derived engine
@@atulyatejapadival1965 nhi vai, inhone khud hi develope kia,yeh common rail direct fuel injection engine
This car is doing all this stuff with h/t tyres . Wow impressive 😍
Could you please review Mahindra s11 auto?
The thing is Mahindra is new to western countries but it is the most reliable brand here in india for SUVs. It doesn't need to prove itself it is already a proven brand.
Well done! Mahindra.
Excellent video Paul! When do you plan to review Mahindra’s XUV700, recently launched in Australia. Very keen to watch your review on this one.
Is there any suspension lift and bigger tire options available for this car?
Wow...good one Paul...and I think that Auto off roader is good stuff
Which one you will recommend someone who drivels mostly in city.x uv700 or scorpion???
Hi guys anyone can give advice should I buy TANK 300 or Mahindra n??
I think it's 187 ground clearence . Is this any difference between india and outside india's scorpio n?
Mahindra is India's pride.
Proud owner of a Mahindra XUV
Great review Paul. Could you please comment on the body flex and chassis rigidity of this car. Thank you
I've driven 4X4 a lot in Africa and will usually avoid any slight chance hurting the cars chasis by not driving in overly used wheel tracks that have become gullies almost.
That right there is dangerous especially for low clearance vehicles.
That hill descent was super fast
Actually ssangyong rexton is the re badged version of Mahindra Alturas G4
Very good review. Thank you 🙏
What is the aftermarket modification market like for these?
