All I know is this is awesome for the consumers. $150000 300 series with a 670kg load capacity…..the piss take days are over. Australia welcomes Mahindra, Ssangyong etc, the market is all yours given the big companies have been bending us over for years.

Mate, Australia is a small population… reduce the choice available then sales would increase of 2 or 3 SUVs brands. Getting cheaper in higher numbers. Doesn’t help we have NCAP making rules that are out of alignment with the rest of the world…. Hence a special make for Australia hence a higher cost for Australia.

His entire journey is uploaded on RUclips by the channel name "INDIAN BACKPACKER". This vehicle is now a tested product of Mahindra. Mahindra is very serious in his business.

Aah aah aah all that route!! Yeah honestly you can easily give he honours to Mahindra for their outstanding capabilities. One guy here in Swaziland used he very first Mahindra van to clear out the forest where he ultimaely built his homestead in he deep rural areas. That's after the chainsaw had done its part. Can we have someone do the same trip with tthe last produced Land-Rover Defender...say from England to India and back. Cheers.

Given the plethora of offroad tests that have been done on the Mahindra Scorpio-N in Australia, South Africa and in it's home Country the capability of this vehicle has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt....in fact most owners would not even subject it to such harsh environments.
Thumbs up to Mahindra....just attend to the few flaws pointed out by the independent testers and you will have a superb affordable offroad capable vehicle which will take the market by storm even outside India.

For a manufacturer that I had never heard of about 2 years or even 18 months ago, Mahindra is very quickly getting global recognition and that says a lot about their abilities and possibly about their quality too. Whilst not a fair or an equal comparison perhaps, I am getting better vibes from Mahindra than I am from Ineos. I doubt they will be entering the Japanese market anytime soon, which is a shame and bad luck for me. One never knows though...In the meantime, they nevertheless, have my attention.

A very useful review! Your specific comments about the rear diff lock are very valuable to me, especially as the Mahindra literature seems deliberately vague on the subject. I have been looking with great interest at buying the Mahindra Scorpio-N as it is very keenly priced here in South Africa, and its capabilities are clearly good, but my application (forestry trails) absolutely requires a diff lock that will work predictably. Thanks to your review the Scorpio is now off my consideration list unless Mahindra follows your advice and installs a manual control for the mechanical rear differential.

Everything’s gr8. But for Mahindra to succeed in Australia they have to look at what Chinese Manufacturers are doing. Aggressively expanding dealer networks and making sure serviceability of vehicles is easier across their networks and availability of spares and following all the guidelines of ANCAP. Hope Mahindra already as such plans in the pipeline or it is going to be a no show in couple of years as more Chinese manufactures will be offering more vehicles at competitive prices

I spoke to another person with the same problem and their Scorpio-N was also made in January 2023. Are there any members here who have a similar issue and their vin number starts with MA1TK4YTTP6A With the 10th letter P indicating the year 2023 and the 12th letter A the month. It is a feeling of a loose component on the steering while traveling at low speeds over rough terrain. Could you please comment if you have a vehicle with the same problem and vin?

Mahindra made a significant mistake with the launch of Scorpio in the Australian market because they should not have introduced the Indian version directly. The traffic conditions in India and its subcontinent are different from Australia, especially considering that ADAS features cannot be directly applied to Indian traffic conditions. Although the vehicle is safer against accidents, they should have adapted it to Australian traffic conditions. Consequently, they received a poor rating from the ANCAP Authority, and now everyone is celebrating this oversight.
