Do you know any way to change the font color of the "Deck, Due, and New" in the desk browser without having to turn on night mode. On default it's black but I want to change it to a white color but I can't seem to find that anywhere. I've been looking for a couple hours already haha.

I got another issue (so sorry to bother you with that!). My background flickers every time I click on something. For instance: I click on a deck, I click on a subdeck etc. It does not appear during studying a deck. Any ideas why? When I inactivate the addon background, the flickering stops. Thanks for the sub! I would try reverting back to Anki version 2.1.35 if you have version 2.1.37 it seems some of the older addons aren't functioning well with the new update. If that doesn't work let me know.
I just checked your video today, lol I know it's late, but why my background setting looks totally different than yours? I don't see such "programming codes" in my settings. Is it because I'm using windows instead of mac? Or has AnKing simplified the setting view?

Great video. As I’m approaching the end of this block in my med school I’m worried about what I’m going to do with the cards. Should I suspend them because they will irrelevant to the next block or keep them rotating but separate decks. But Also, I don’t want to mess with the anking deck organization. What do you think ?
Are you planning on taking step or a cumulative exam? If so, I highly recommend keeping up with your reviews from the previous block (daily). If you are not taking a cumulative exam just suspend the cards.

something i found out is if it doesn't work at first, sometimes the image is a jpg instead of a png if you download it somewhere else, so you have to type "filename.jpg" instead of just changing midnight to the file name because it's .png by default

I did everything in the video, but I do not understand why the top stays black. When I put a dark image, all the writing where it says Deck, Add, Stats, Sync stays black... How can I make it all white? 😕 I have Anki version 2.1.35 and not any of the night add-ons I have installed seems to work 🤔

you can just change the .png to like .jpg or whatever your file ends with if that's the question there. As for blank, idk the default way of it yet but I think you can search up like a black/white image. Maybe disabling or taking the picture name out of the thing can work it but I haven't tried that yet so that may do something so be careful and do some research before that

thank you, this was really helpful, I just have one problem: Everything worked, apart from changing the text color - it stays black for me. I also tried to put the hexa number for white instead of just writing "white" but it still didn't work..... did anyone else have that problem? Hey Madison sorry to hear that, you sure it’s the code: 1210908941? If that doesn’t work I would try just export your current deck, redownload anki, and try and add the addon again. If thattt doesn’t work I would try the other troubleshooting techniques I have pinned.
@@MadisonHalla You will not lose your progress just go to file -> export (make sure "include media" is checked off AND export format is Anki Collection Package) -> click export -> redownload anki (name it like "Anki 2") create a new profile -> double click your previously exported file to get your regular Anki back in place -> try an download the addon again. Before doing all of this I would just restart your computer and triple-check that you have the most up-to-date version of everything AND make sure the code you put in has no spaces/weird numbers, I would just type it in manually as opposed to cmd+c and cmd+v.

I shut off my computer then tried it again and then deleted Anki after saving my cards and then redownloaded it and then found a different Anki version and tried it there with no luck. The version I have is up to date but when I put in the code it says it's not supported on the version I have

Hey I don't think it's transparent it's just dark colored so it kind of matches my background. I never even noticed the days of the week lol, try going to tools → review heatmap options → and change calendar mode to "continuous timeline"

Apologies, but those two text fields are being pulled from two different parts, one is from Anki and the other is from the Review Heatmap addon - and so I don't know how to access those texts from CSS :/
Hi there! Got some questions. I can't change the color of my heatmap. I'm using version 2.1.35. And how can I change the background of the heatmap? Yours is black and mine is lime with a white background. How can I see Monday, Tuesday etc.? Also my headlines like Add, Browse, Stats etc. stay in black and they are hard to read. I would like to change that to white. The sentence "studied xxx cards in xxx days" also stays in black. And my final question: when I choose a deck, is there any possibility to change the color of new, to learn and review cards? Because the number of "new cards" is hard to read with the background. Hey, first thing, sounds like you are still in "day" mode. If you switch to night mode all of these should be fixed. So go to Anki → Preferences → Basic → and select "Night Mode." As for the changing the color of "new," "to learn," and "review" cards, yes it is possible! I don't have that table of completed cards on my Anki windows home section ! the newest version looks more simple and is harder to set up like before !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so annoying. My settings don’t look like this at all and I can’t figure out what to do. This is why I can’t get into Anki. This isn’t user friendly
Mine is in night mode so it is automatically that, if you want to do that just go to "Anki" on toolbar -> Preferences -> Basic -> and make sure "nightmode" is checkmarked. Then just restart Anki. If you want to keep it in normal (day) mode and change the reviewer to black let me know and I can tell you how, it is just a little more tricky as we will have to go into some CSS.

Press ctrl+p or click tools and then press preferences. Once the preferences window opens turn on night mode

I can't find config in the new version of anki , I searched in the Anking tab but I still couldn't find it !
how do you get that stats section on the home page? i have to click on stats to go to a seperate page to see those little boxes that show progress.
is it as easy if you don’t have a mac? like a pc?
Great video. As I’m approaching the end of this block in my med school I’m worried about what I’m going to do with the cards. Should I suspend them because they will irrelevant to the next block or keep them rotating but separate decks. But Also, I don’t want to mess with the anking deck organization. What do you think ?
Are you planning on taking step or a cumulative exam? If so, I highly recommend keeping up with your reviews from the previous block (daily).
If you are not taking a cumulative exam just suspend the cards.

hi, i can't see the option "review heatmap option". what do i do if i would like to see the review heatmap?
something i found out is if it doesn't work at first, sometimes the image is a jpg instead of a png if you download it somewhere else, so you have to type "filename.jpg" instead of just changing midnight to the file name because it's .png by default

I did everything in the video, but I do not understand why the top stays black. When I put a dark image, all the writing where it says Deck, Add, Stats, Sync stays black...

Thank you for the amazing video. One thing, the photos which will add from Pexels must be in "png" format. How did you make the background of the study deck blank?
you can just change the .png to like .jpg or whatever your file ends with if that's the question there. As for blank, idk the default way of it yet but I think you can search up like a black/white image. Maybe disabling or taking the picture name out of the thing can work it but I haven't tried that yet so that may do something so be careful and do some research before that

thank you, this was really helpful, I just have one problem: Everything worked, apart from changing the text color - it stays black for me. I also tried to put the hexa number for white instead of just writing "white" but it still didn't work..... did anyone else have that problem?
Edit: Nevermind I found out that I just had to put Anki in night mode... I'll still leave the comment here, in case someone has the same problem.

Great video! I'm looking to add a background and have version 2.1.37 but I continuously get an error message when putting in the code to download the add-on. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? I know I'm putting in the code correctly but I'm not sure why it won't work.

If that doesn’t work I would try just export your current deck, redownload anki, and try and add the addon again.
If thattt doesn’t work I would try the other troubleshooting techniques I have pinned.

@@MadisonHalla You will not lose your progress just go to file -> export (make sure "include media" is checked off AND export format is Anki Collection Package) -> click export -> redownload anki (name it like "Anki 2") create a new profile -> double click your previously exported file to get your regular Anki back in place -> try an download the addon again.
Before doing all of this I would just restart your computer and triple-check that you have the most up-to-date version of everything AND make sure the code you put in has no spaces/weird numbers, I would just type it in manually as opposed to cmd+c and cmd+v.

I shut off my computer then tried it again and then deleted Anki after saving my cards and then redownloaded it and then found a different Anki version and tried it there with no luck. The version I have is up to date but when I put in the code it says it's not supported on the version I have

Hey I don't think it's transparent it's just dark colored so it kind of matches my background.
I never even noticed the days of the week lol, try going to tools → review heatmap options → and change calendar mode to "continuous timeline"
did i miss something or how can i change the color of "studied x Cards in x hours today" and "Daily average / Days learned / Longest streak / current streak" and the headers colors?

Apologies, but those two text fields are being pulled from two different parts, one is from Anki and the other is from the Review Heatmap addon - and so I don't know how to access those texts from CSS :/
Hi there! Got some questions. I can't change the color of my heatmap. I'm using version 2.1.35. And how can I change the background of the heatmap? Yours is black and mine is lime with a white background. How can I see Monday, Tuesday etc.?
Also my headlines like Add, Browse, Stats etc. stay in black and they are hard to read. I would like to change that to white. The sentence "studied xxx cards in xxx days" also stays in black.
And my final question: when I choose a deck, is there any possibility to change the color of new, to learn and review cards? Because the number of "new cards" is hard to read with the background. Thanks a lot!
Hey, first thing, sounds like you are still in "day" mode. If you switch to night mode all of these should be fixed. So go to Anki → Preferences → Basic → and select "Night Mode."
As for the changing the color of "new," "to learn," and "review" cards, yes it is possible!

I have the lastest version of Anki and i'm on Windows. For some reason it doesn't work i even don't see the "AnKing.png" gear on my Anki home page! Big deal! I'm still very happy to be able to customize my Anki background! It's pleasant for the eyes

If that text color code listed doesn't work completely you, you can just put *body{ color: white;}* in the same area along with the code provided!

Hey I'm sorry to hear that, the most common mistake is not typing in the filename on the "background config" popup exactly as what the filename is in the folder, are you sure they are exactly the same? (timestamp - 4:17)

A little question: How to make the review page all black without changing the home page? Thanks for the video!
Mine is in night mode so it is automatically that, if you want to do that just go to "Anki" on toolbar -> Preferences -> Basic -> and make sure "nightmode" is checkmarked. Then just restart Anki.
If you want to keep it in normal (day) mode and change the reviewer to black let me know and I can tell you how, it is just a little more tricky as we will have to go into some CSS.
