- Installing Ubuntu Touch on a OnePlus 3 including downgrade to Android 9.
Using the UBports installer.
Platform Tools: developer.andr...
OEM Unlock Command: fastboot oem unlock
TWRP: twrp.me/oneplu...
Android 9: www.androidaut...
Ubuntu Touch Installer:
devices.ubuntu...
Every now and again I've tried to install Ubuntu Touch for a few years now. I've tried different firmwares, different Android versions, ext4 and f2fs plus a bunch of other things I have forgotten. Every single time it has failed with a message saying, device connection lost!
It was that check box bug!!
Thank you.
Thanks, this will come in handy when my OnePlus 3T comes in the mail.
Thank you. I was stuck for hours trying to install multiple times. Following this video worked for me in 1 shot.
I'm glad that it worked for you :)
Fantastic, thanks.
Only a couple of consideration.. I spend a good couple of hours find out that the Wipe all partition except OTG and the formatting after it , does not work if you are attached to the computer with cable. Eventually you have to disconnect the phone, restart it in TWRP, wipe and format, than reconnect the phone and continue with UBports Installer. Than it works.
Thanks a lot. I am now running Ubuntu Touch on Oneplus 3
Thank you for sharing those details. And I'm happy to hear that Ubuntu Touch is working on your device!
Not to click the "Factory Reset" checkbutton still makes it. Thanks for your TIP! But I don't really understand why this issue has still not been fixed.
I'm glad that it still works to do that. I think the device is a bit older than the rest now, so it is probably not as maintained, including the installer.
very nice video .
Thanks !
thanks, was able to install, wierd thats the issue, maybe doesnt effect newer phones, maybe only older ones
I'm glad it worked for you. I think that issue may be for older or less-maintained devices. Thanks for letting me know that the tutorial is still working :)
Thanks for the video
Bro
Tried all your steps but still got the error, device connection has lost. What could be the problem, can you please take on this issue?
Sorry to hear that it's not working. Is it losing connection once it reboots to fastboot mode? If so, then you will need to go to device manager, select the android device, and change the drivers to the bootloader drivers (or ADB if that's the issue): See similar to this instruction: ruclips.net/video/2hi2msn1lVo/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=621
Otherwise, I wonder if it's an issue with the cable.
can I install ubuntu touch on my one plus 3 running on android 8 ?
I think you should upgrade to android 9 first. Ubuntu touch is based on halium 9 at least. If you can't upgrade via OTA then you should be able to flash this www.oneplus.com/ca_en/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156097213 with TWRP
are there any directions you would recommend for doing this on a google pixel 3a?
I think you already found the installation video, but this should work: ruclips.net/video/CdNGSdYCaDY/видео.html
thank you!!!@@CyberPunkEdu
I might as well install this as PostMarketOS is to hard to install. But you should have said what the checkbox does, it undoes usb debugging! Also I already had Android 9 OOS and TWRP installed yet I get bad USB cable fail.
Thanks for the comment. I didn't know know that it undoes usb debugging. I have noticed usb debug issues on most of the UT devices lately. Did you confirm that checkbox issues somewhere?
@@CyberPunkEdu best way to explain it, resetting to default. Yes I did not check the box and flashed UBT
@@burhanbudak6041 That is interesting. Thanks for sharing. It helps us all to know more.
@@CyberPunkEdu also, is the automatic install better then the GSI version?
@@burhanbudak6041 I would say at this point the Installer version is probably more up-to-date. I made video reviews of both version that you can check out on my channel, though they are old now.
How to install in redmi note 8?
There is support for note 8 pro: devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/begonia/
It looks like you need to be on Android 10, and then use the installer.
Plz moto g10
There is no port for the moto g10 yet, but you could try discussing in the forums forums.ubports.com/
