I hope everyone has been having a great week, and is well.
I thought it would be nice to share some of the crafty things that myself and my three daughters received for Christmas this year, a summery of the craft items in my advent calendars and finally a few things that we have all done over the festive period.

Well I had a lovely Christmas with my three girls too, but my three girls are my granddaughters, IN AUSTRALIA. Came home a couple of days ago so still jet lagged but missing them so much. The eldest aged 9, has been going to a local sewing class for about 18 months. She has her own sewing machine and together we made bunting for her two younger sister’s bedroom. One side of the room pink, the other blue. Her name is Isabella and she is such a kind and caring girl, she made her dad (my son) an owl for Christmas, he still supports Sheffield Wednesday (The Owls), she had made her sisters a puppy dog each and her mum a cockatoo. She had made me a beautiful green heart pin cushion too, what a little star she is. Can’t wait to see them this September over here so we can sew together again.
Still watched you from the other side of the world, if my girls turn out like your three girls I will be very happy, thank you for all your videos, love watching them. Xxx

I have the same Elements crochet book, which I love. I made 3 creatures from the book for my new grandsons nursery last year. I received 5 new Indie sewing patterns for Christmas from friends and family……lucky me!

We had such a lovely christmas. 12 of my 13 kiddos were here. Plus spouses and grandchildren. Such a joy. My hubby bought me new sewing scissors. The midnight LBH ones. So nice.

The entomology pins are amazing, I recently got those as a gift. They are great for pinning delicate fabrics!

How talented your girls are, wow! Painting the shells was a wonderful gift idea. As for Katie's dilemma regarding embroidering close to free edges, it's probably too late now to be of any help but what I do is to tack a piece of scrap cotton fabric to the edge to extend it to fit in the hoop. I haven't made the owl, but I have been given a couple of gifts, one a small beading project, the other needle felting, and I have to confess I have not completed either of them. This year, I will! Love that Maison Fauve fabric. We were both poorly over Christmas, so no sewing or crafting was achieved here, either.

Lovely makes and wonderful gifts. I was gifted some liberty fabric I gad been lusting after and also a Sherwoods voucher, so some lovely lady McElroy delights sre on their way. Happy New Year

What a great vlog Angela. Loved it all, especially the embroidered apron, the crochet and the knitting that your very talented girls are in the process of doing. Wow - how talented are you all. What a proud mum you must be, I actually got a new sewing machine 😲 I have a Juki which I love but it has just become too heavy to take to classes - so Ive got a lighter one and can't wait to try it out at my dressmaking class on 17th Jan. Happy New Year

Glad your feeling better and lovely to see your girls so excited of their crafting😊 I had a macrame kit for my birthday and my instructions were only showing one way too, had to google to find help to do in reverse. I then did a workshop in my local cafe (lady teaching was just opening a little shop in The house that Jack Built on the Barbican) to make a plant hanger and it was so much easier to see it done infront of you, I think I’m going to book another class. Hope you get to finish your owl.
I think it may be us Devon Ladies that are fuelled by tea, most of my family and friends laugh that I drink it non stop! Happy New Year, I’m planning to make 2024 the year I attend more sewing events so may see you down at Make at some point or at one of the shows🤞

I love how all your girls are so crafty and talented too. Both my mother and sister were very good with knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery and rug making. I have knitted, sewn and embroidered all my life but sadly neither of my daughters have shown any interest whatsoever. So, I’m very envious that your lovely girls have followed in your footsteps and also have developed their own interests.

Im currently on a holiday to New Zealand and i have an embroidery and a sashiko piece that im alternately working on as we drive around. Just loving the slow stitching will definitely be continuing this into the year. In fact i would really love to do Ann Woods 100 days of stitching starting on 19 Jan. My girls love to craft too but they are taken up with little ones at the moment which Granny here is enjoying thoroughly! Happy New Year to you and yours from Australia Xx

Oh my so many things to comment on. My lovely husband gave me a new set of sewing scissors and one of my sons in law gave me a gift certificate to a local fabric store. I made 3 reading pillows for 3 special little girls in my life. During my break from work, I started knitting myself a sweater. I used to knit quite a bit, and decided to get back into it. Oh, I also made my husband a zip front sweatshirt. Your daughters are all so talented. I think I find the pattern for the hat your husband received, my husband would love one. The amazing handmade socks reminded so much of the socks my mom used to knit. I still have a pair she knit me more than 20 years ago. She also used to knit very delicate baby sweater, hats, and booties. One of my daughters repaired my husband's beloved Levi jean jacket. It was getting quite shabby, and she did something called visible mending. She used small pieces of plaid fabric with a matching verigated embroidery thread. I think it's probably his most favourite gift ever. The painted seashells are so beautiful, I might hint to my artsy children that I would like one. Oh your barking dog made me smile. One of my dogs is almost 15 and he just randomly barks. He is mostly deaf and I don't think he sees so well either. And my 14 year old cat, who rarely ever mowed now meows when she wants to sit with me. Oh senior pets are interesting. Of of my goals this year is to figure out fairisle knitting. Your new cardigan is stunning. Thanks for sharing your gifts and talented daughters.

Ellen is very good at art - and really enjoys it - but she is actually studying Biomedical sciences - so something completely different!!! She uses her art and creativity to relax 🥰

Such a lovely vlog! Your daughters remind me of mine. They each have an art/craft that they love to do. Crafting was an activity that we did as they were growing up. I found that it was a good way to bond and rein in some energy.

I really enjoyed this vlog. I also have three daughters 😍. Forgive me if you know this already but with your Maison Fauve dress, be careful if you are overlocking the seams. I had a delicious silk that I was so careful with using silk pins and microtex needles so I didn’t get pulls then mindlessly overlocked the seams. Sigh….. lots of pulled threads. I should have done French seams.

Absolutely loved this vlog, your girls are so talented I love the shell from Helen she is such a talented artist. You all received some lovely home made gifts which is so special and much more thoughtful than shop bought . This year I made at least 75% of my Christmas gifts and loved making them. I’m going to try and start a little earlier in the year this time lol not sure that will happen I’ve already started planning my spring makes which I’m getting excited about. Xx
