That makes so much more sense to keep your labels in their packaging on the tin rather than having them loose in the tin. You are the first person I've seen to do it like that. But your way keeps the labels from getting folded and crumpled, and it's so much easier to find the one you are looking for, as well as knowing when you are running out of your favourites.

I bought the sudley g and g kit too and realised it wasn’t going to suit me. I used the fabric to make the sudley top and a mave skirt. Faux dress or separates and I really like the sudley top as a blouse.

Thank you so much for the tour of your sewing room. It’s reassuring I am not alone in collecting fabric 😊. After watching I also ordered the same adjustable height cutting table as I too get a back ache on my lower tables. It arrived today and will come in great use as I am about to recover a sofa. Can I just ask, does yours have a kind of speckled effect all over the plastic top? Many thank from Angela

Loved your tour, thank you. I am so impressed with how tidy and organised you are and how minimal your stash is, apart from the stored kits :-). Then you opened up the ottoman and displayed your REAL stash. Wow. I feel so much better. I keep a record of all my patterns and fabric on a spreadsheet and feel rather guilty that I have over 130m of dressmaking fabric at present. I am shopping my stash at present and trying hard not to buy any more fabrics. I love your two blue additions to your stash, by the way. My problem is that I took a creative textiles diploma a few years ago and acquired lots of art stuff and additional supplies that I am no longer using and it takes up a lot of space. So, I am going to clear all my arty stuff out and donate it to a local special needs school where my friend's daughter works. I am not arty at all, really. I also have a large quilting fabric stash. I have been sewing like crazy recently, as my overlocker went in for service yesterday and I was desperately trying to get everything done that I needed the overlocker for. I succeeded, but my sewing room is now a mess and tomorrow I begin the clean up before I move on to cutting my one and only kit that I bought a week, or so, ago, the Pilar Jacket by Maison Fauve that I purchased from Beyond The Pink Door. I would so love to visit that shop!

I've switched from Trello, only because Trello recently told me I was almost out of room for adding cards in the free version, and I would have to pay if I wanted to add more cards. I don't like Trello nearly as much as Stash Hub, if I have to pay for one or the other, so I am now in the process of switching over to Stash Hub. I have all my sewing patterns and fabrics in Trello, as well as my yarn Stash and patterns, craft supplies, etc. So it will clear up all of my sewing things from Trello so that I have more room for my yarn and other craft items, like paper crafts, painting, jewelry making, etc. I did open a second Trello account though for my little bagmaking business, to keep track of those supplies and how many of each bag type I have, etc. But it's more of a business thing where I also do planning, etc.

Thank you for showing us around your sewing room. I did think you were very restrained with your fabrics until I saw under your bed. However there is not as much as some have, but like me agree you have to be brave sometimes and cut into that fabric you like and use it 😊
I do struggle having my threads on show as they can collect dust so don’t have mine out but in a draw ready to use. Like you I don’t use my coverstitch much, but when I do I’m so pleased I have it. I was going to get my machine out and sew but got distracted with your vlog. However you have inspired me to sort out some more of my sewing bits first ❤

Great tour - thank you. You are SO neat. Having said that, I do have a place for everything. You are so right to highlight the back issues with low tables. I came back to sewing after a break of 37 years when I retired and had a purpose built cabin in my garden which I loved. One of the non negotiable things was space for a waist high cutting table. I actually have 2 garden “bar tables” butted together which works perfectly. I keep them aligned with a self made box corner cover made of ironing board material and my cutting mats. I do everything at my
table except actually sew and unpick😂😂. When I downsized I took a bedroom for my sewing and of course it had to have room for my table. I have Kalax units beneath for storage so it is perfect. LOL with the notebook comments- mine will outlive me for sure 😂😂😂. Loving your new blue fabric by the way. Happy Sewing. 😊 Lynne

I also leave a single bed in my sewing room for “overflow guests”. But, I’ve put an extra mattress on top of the bed which raises it enough for me to use as a “cutting table” (I’m only 5’1”😂) I lay a IKEA rigid office floor protector on top of that mattress and a large cutting mat on top of that, thus creating a fairly large useable space. The floor protector and mat fit behind the wardrobe when we need to put a guest in there. Thanks so much for sharing your sewing room with us.

You have given me some ideas to organize my sewing room more efficiently. I am going to research the cardboard to wrap my fabric around. I bought a huge dining room hutch from a thrift store. The top part has glass doors and glass shelves, perfect for storing fabric. The bottom has drawers and shelves behind solid doors. I have a similar table but it only has one height. My husband constructed wood stands to set the legs into. Now it is the correct height for me for cutting, tracing, etc. But truthfully I use kitchen island, it's exactly the correct height and my large cutting mat is exactly the same size. I too preferr a cup of tea to any other drink. Years ago, when visiting my cousin in the south of England, we stopped at a coffee/tea shop I asked the owner if I could have my tea in a to go cup so I could sit on the beach and enjoy my tea. This was the end of October and a cooler day. He kindly said oh just take the mug and enjoy my time on the beach. One of my best memories from my only trip, so far, to England. I laughed when you said you tend to buy blue fabric even though you tell yourself not to. I'm the same, but it's pink that draws my eye.

Angela, I'm so glad you have a cutting table at the appropriate height. For years I was crawling around on the floor and over time it started to hinder me from cutting out projects as I got older because it made sewing less "fun".
A few years ago our office/sewing room became only a sewing room. I bought three adjustable tables from Ikea. They have a crank so you can lower them quite low or raise them to a standing height. One for a cutting table and one each for my overlocker and sewing machine. Best investment I ever made! If you have back or shoulder/neck discomfort while sewing these tables that can be lowered to a lower level than a normal desk or table do wonders. Here in the U.S. we have the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) that regulates every industry for worker health and safety. I found a diagram of where the bed of a sewing machine should be in relation to the sewist's body. Adjusting my sewing table to closer to the appropriate level and using an adjustable chair to make up the difference has done wonders to alleviate the muscle tension/tightness in my shoulders and neck that I was getting while sewing with my shoulders scrunched up all the time. (I, of course, still get some tightness when I'm really concentrating and hunching down to see a tricky bit, but now that's from my own bad posture, not because of faulty equipment!😉)
Thanks so much for the sewing room tour. I love nosing around everyone else's sewing space! X

I was very interested in your table as I get such an aching back when bending over to cut out. I bought a fold down table but it doesn’t adjust height wise. So I’m going to look into your one. Firstly I thought your fabric was in the first cupboard until you showed under the bed. You are so organised it puts me to shame.
