I am usually not this blunt and try to find positive spins on MREs, and I have seen other videos of older R MREs that were in fact excellent, especially by having something we also have a lot of in Portugal, Spain and France, pates, concentrated animal protein very tasty and comforting (the fish based ones from Portugal are highly recommended by myself, sardine, tuna, macro, etc), but this one had nothing of it, and besides the chocolate, it really was a poor sight, only the peanuts and raisins, with the honey, could be used as "travelling on the go" food, and that dinner?... The British one, my friend, to the point, somewhat too sweet, but you are burning calories when you are moving, and it had details in it that made it comforting, some sweet tea with a biscuit, that main meal, a balanced MRE that I could see myself take on a hike... Excellent one Sir., and I agree with your choice 100 per cent.

Nice to hear the kids playing in the background.
It was. We actually had a few come and sit down by us and watch off camera. They were real quiet and well behaved. TFW, Anita.
English biscuits are closer to our cookies what we call biscuits they don’t have or might’ve gotten recipes now but obviously because as Americans we had to change what England had by name because we didn’t want to be them same seeing as we had kicked them out during revolution. we have our own measurements system which can be difficult because a lot of stuff is made overseas with metric but oddly enough we’ve used liters and u.s liquid measuring for decades!
The Russian Dinner Main looks like Kasha and if it was its meant to be like that....
That's what someone else said. TFW
Y'all should come down here in Alabama and fish!
That spork’s been through some stuff; it should write it’s own memoir 😳🤣👍
Maybe something like, “Top foods you should never mix!” TFW!
@@MeAncient and perhaps a second “and maybe some you should”… 🤔
Sugar and napkins? That's ignition right there!
You'll have to explain how to me. I'm unsure of the technique. TFW
im a brit and in 55 years of living ive never once eaten tuna with lime and peppers or even seen it on a menu
It was delicious, for sure. TFW and welcome aboard.
If it was war and i could choose, i would have servings with freeze dried eggs, oatmeal, fruits and some vacuum sealed nuts..
At least for me, pure oatmeal without additions and eggs gives me the most and longest lasting power.
If only we could choose what meals we get........TFW
The British 24 hours are as good as the French RCIR's in my opinion. I also love the Russian ones to.
Maybe there's another comparison there? TFW Kevin.
I like to call them sailors for fun. Be ready to run for it when you see them start foaming at the mouth.
In the US, the USMC is actually a part of the Navy. The Naval Secretary is in our chain of command. TFW, Reid.
@@MeAncient And that's what pisses them off. Lol. It's all good fun bantering back and forth amongst veterans. I'm an Air Force veteran. Imagine the jokes thrown my way.
@@reidadams4277 Reid, you heard the one about the Air Force TechSgt who walks into the commissary and sees brains for sale. AF brains are $2 a pint. Navy brains are $4 a pint. Army brains are $6 a pint. Marine brains are $16 for 4 ounces. TechSgt complains to the manager and asks, "how can Marine brains possibly be more valuable that the other branches?!?!" The manager says, "Do you have any idea how many Marines it took to fill that jar?" 😁😁😁

When you pulled out the tuna with lime and pepper I thought you were in with a nightmare, one of the worst things I've ever tasted or smelled, glad to see it was different for you.
I really did enjoy it! TFW
I guess I'll cope with a tie for breakfast.
Fun fact: Honey was found at an ancient Egyptian dig that was approximately 4000 years old, and it was still edible.
Oooh the chocolate mousse with granola and cherries!
Im calling lunch as a Brit win, solely based on that item. Even if you didnt get crackers with the tuna lol.
You didnt dunk the biscuits (cookies) in the tea!
I'll try to cut you some slack though. :)
I forgot you are not a dark chocolate fan. I guess my idea of a win based on that mousse was wrong.
Yey! We won lunch. (Im not gloating, promise) lol
As soon as I saw the dinner was the black bean noodle main, I knew we would win the dinner. :)
I loved this comparison review.
(It wasnt just because we won.. I promise lol)
Christine, you wouldn't be biased now, would you? England was the clear winner, seriously. TFW, as always.
@@MeAncient Me, biased? Never! Lol

According to some Russian bloggers buckwheat is a staple food in Russia
Rosemary, that sounds right. Every meal I've reviewed from Russia had some type of buckwheat....sometimes many menu items with variations of buckwheat. TFW
I appreciate the input. TFW, Joao
CRRAN CRACKERS ARE EATEN WITH CHEESE OR MASHED EGG AND MAYO OR VEGEMITE AND BUTTER.
Sounds delicious. Next time.......(if I can remember). TFW
I think both of these meals were probably less desirable meals of course they were only one option out of many different one I'm sure and I'm also sure there may be better ones from both countries
Danny, the British one. was clearly the winner. TFW, as always!
@MeAncient You bet, I wouldn't miss any of you guys videos
That was interesting usually Russian meals are really good that seems real skimpy
I thought so too. TFW, Tom.

I’m thinking the cheese and oat biscuits were for the tuna

You compared a Russian non-military ration to a special cold weather military ration. of course the British one had more to offer ;-)
Both 24 hour rations, though. TFW
@@MeAncient but not both arctic rations. They give you more calories for cold environments. A real Russian arctic military ration has much more food than the civilian one you had. Even a normal Russian military ration is more filling.
