- Sorry i only got half of this video and also sorry my finger got in the way near the end. After this guy had nailed several boats i decided that this was going to be as good as a UFO video so i cranked up the iphone. a few bystanders said his slip is on the left just this side of the smaller Sea Ray (about 5 slips out on the left side). when we got there, he was out of the slip and all the way back near us and the boats on the left. So.... if he was drunk, he's toast since the harbor patrol hooked up to him right after the last crash. if he isn't drunk, i'd recommend non-motorized vehicles rather twin inboards in a 35ish foot boat fly bridge. His chick never screamed at him that we could hear. This happened about 1PM on memorial day 2013. boat crash
edit. for you nut jobs that think i could have helped. there's locked gate going out to each row of slips
edit 2. yes, i know how to drive a boat this size. if anyone wants to quiz me, give it a whirl. let me know if i've got counter ro and a bow thruster before you start....
edit 3. anyone who thinks someone should board the guy's boat is dumber than dumb unless you know him. also, how would you go about getting on the boat? there were many people on that row of slips. could they have helped? don't think so. you need to ask for help.
Every skipper knows that somedays you watch the show and somedays you are the show.
Ladies and gentleman Captain Ray Charles will be piloting your boat today.
I bet he likes his boat like his whisky on the rocks.
Word has it, he is still trying to dock that boat.
Hahahahaha
Great way to make new friends at the marina.
lol
You'd have to be brain dead or desperate as hell to want to be friends with any of the morons whose voices are heard here. What pathetic people.
Sean Rolyat yeah I agree with you 100%
Sean Rolyat - You May meet people but doubt they will be friendly. This man has no idea how to drive it he’s totally intoxicated.
All of a sudden I'm in the mood for a big bowl of "Captain Crunch"!

@@fukkyoutube AGREED!!! ROFLMAO!
several things wrong here. One is the captain here has no idea what he's doing and second people instead of watching should be lending a hand.
What are they supposed to do? Swim out there and help? Help do what exactly?
I have volunteered to help others back their 5th wheels into their site but they refused. Have to maintain your manhood.
Haha watching white folk panic like this is hilarious.
Anthony Doge Do you have a boat?
Lmao ikr
Anthony Doge you can't afford a boat.
Anthony Doge Everybody has the ability to purchase boats.
Doesn't matter,I still am able to buy a boat.
I've watched many inexperienced skippers try to get in a slip and it's always a show, and that's ok. The guy or gal has to hone their skills somehow. But, at the point the skipper is slamming into other boats, repeatedly, it's time for someone on the dock to board the boat and remove him from the helm.
Hone your skills out in the bay.
@@tomwalshsr.6774 When I took Sailing lessons the instructor had us all practice docking, no matter our skill level. We hit the dock several times but after a while we got comfortable with docking. Of course we only practice where there was no other boats. This guy has to lay off the booze or go back to sailing school. Oh if you ever go to a sailing school, bring your own life preserver, the ones at the school stink of body odor.
Not me (at least, not unless they ask for help). Boarding the boat could escalate everything, and I certainly don't need the potential extra liability. I'd just wait for the HarborMaster/Police/Coast Guard to board the boat instead. And in the meantime, I'd just yell at them to turn off the engine and throw me a rope (assuming I had access to the dock and was at the right spot for it).
@@RustyAndroid For sure! You can get your own ass into a lot of trouble, just deciding to board another boat without permission or request.
@@dannyarcher You don't have any rights to board somone else"s vessel for any reason unless you are Coast Guard, or the UK equivalent .I don't know what the fine limit would be, but if you are a licensed Captain it's up to 500,000 or prison depending on the Judge and your Lawyer! BTW most of the U.S. laws are based on British Maritime Law.CALL THE COAST GUARD !!! Don't get yourself in trouble. The Coast Guard is an arm of Homeland Security now and is a completely different Agency than 25 year's ago. Trust me in this case the law is not on your side if you get on another boat without being asked to!
the guy hit everything but the lottery
lmao that comment made my day
He's gonna need to win the lottery to pay for all the damage!
how do you think he bought the boat
Reminds me of the idiot that hit my houseboat while trying to leave one across from me. did about a thousand dollars damage but he just throttled up and left. Will always remember the boat, a baby blue 1960's32 footer with a picture of snoopy on the stern
@@thomashopkins2509 Are there not cameras at marinas where such reckless maneuvers can be recorded for apprehension and prosecution later??? I mean the boat has a registration number; how hard can it be to catch him?
I can't say a while lot. I distinctly remember one evening coming into that exact marina. Dana Point Marina Company, Dana Island Slip C16. It was the night the entire family learned what prop walk is. Similar vessel. We had a 26ft Chris craft cabin cruiser then. Single screw with tiny rudder. Didn't take long to learn how to use it to your advantage. We practiced in the basin near the fuel dock. I got to where I could spin the boat nearly within its own length.
Well, I guess we don't need to ask what happened to the "Kalii I".
Appreciate the brilliance of this comment.
First off, the people filming should not jump on the dock to help, because there's clearly already several people on the docks helping and too many would be dangerous (overcrowding the dock).
Secondly, the driver of the boat should immediately stop everything their doing.
Thirdly, if the goal is to turn the boat around, they should hold one of the boat from the dock and run a line from the other end of that boat and PULL it around. Yes, it's a big boat, but weather and water look calm, so manually pulling it around should be fairly simple as long as the skipper gets the hell away from the controls.
To me, it looks like the skipper has had a few too many beers.
you can always tell when the guy running the boat doesn't know what he is doing because his wife/girlfriend is usually prepared to try and "fend" the boat off of boats/docks. My favorite idiots of this nature are the ones that are yelling at their wives like it's their fault that they just slammed into a dock or boat. if you have your old lady, or anybody else for that matter, prepared to or attempting to try and fend you off as you are approaching the dock or boat you need to get somebody to teach you how to run a boat. you could see him in the bridge working that wheel like he was driving a truck, he needed to center the rudders and use the clutches to guide it in.
I worked for a boat dealer in D.P. In the late 80’s & early 90’s and we had a famous Hollywood type that couldn’t dock his boat, he would tie it up at the guest dock, leave a $100.00 bill under a bottle of scotch and call me to “park” his boat for him
Sounds like Ben Afleck. I heard he's a real douche on the water.
Well, he knew his limitations and had a plan. Hats Off to him and to you for docking his boat!
@@60jscott you can only give him so much shit for that.
The problem is obvious to any competent boater. He's trying to turn the wrong way. The boat has a right handed prop, meaning it spins clockwise in forward and counterclock in reverse. The torque this produces cannot be made up for by the rudder, especially at low speed and high throttle. You can see when he's gunning it in reverse he's trying to get the stern to turn away from the dock but it simply will not turn that way even with the rudder hard over. He's trying to do a 180 to get back to his slip. If he had just tried to spin it the other way it would easily whip right around.
+Jeremy Leaf Well said. Can I hope on your boat? I hope you're a lobster fisherman
That boat is a twin-screw vessel. The rudders should NEVER be "hard over" when docking. But you are probably correct in that the owner is possibly inexperienced and does not understand handling a twin screw vessel and has his rudders hard over making docking a horrible experience.
Capt. Em you can use the the rudders to make use of the prop wash you can basically walk a boat sideways without thrusters just by useing the prop wash and rotation of the props
bow thrusters would have helped. maybe
Or he is just drunk.
Newbie skipper for sure. See you couldn't help but surprised others on the dock didn't lend a hand. We've all learned the "hard" way. Help, helps!
you can't help stupid people
Nice one bro
What did you want them to do, jump in the water and swim over there?
Tis but a dream ..get in their dinghy and help him manoeuvre the boat..geesh ..obviously you don't boat much. There are tons of dinghies around there
Definitely. No routine. Heavy boat, one shaft, and single propeller(with right-hand rotation), build in motor etc. this kind is the hardest to maneuver. And exactly from wrong direction(right- back) Would be easier from left. I was not better at the first time. :)
Somedays you're the bug and somedays you're the windshield. Glad all the people out at the marina jumped in and helped the guy. Just HAS to be Cali.
Its not as easy as it looks. got to learn somewhere, but not in a crowded marina. double screw don't touch the wheel!
Showcase of a big problem today: if you have money you can buy, and drive a boat. But there is no legal requirement to show that you know how. One guy I know took the boating class and went all the way to a Captain's license--and then had his son do the same--so they have two competent people ready to go at all times.
+Jmichael Isbell BS. try docking in the wind
Brian, I often wonder how you learn--I would think (I am a small boater, never needed to dock in a slip) that you really should go out, go somewhere, maybe set up buoys, or some other fixed thing? on the water, then practice putting that thing in there, coming to the wind, from the wind, and via side winds until you are very, very good. Even putting my 20 foot skiff on a side tie, I have done quite a bit to insure I can get it in there without harming any other boat that may be fore or aft of my boat. One thing that has worked, like a charm, when I am putting it between two boats: eye ball it and be sure there is 20 feet plus a good margin on BOTH sides, go in at a 90 to the dock--guy on the nose ties the front of the boat to a dock cleat, and gets out, leaving just a foot or two of extra line--not too much. Then use reverse to suck the boat to the dock. With the nose tied, it can't hit the boat off the stern. Another thing, unless the wind is howling, back into the wind, that way you don't have the wind blowing you too hard into the dock. And IF that wind is just terrible--I've been there--then the guy who got off the boat and tied the nose, can help catch the boat from slamming into the dock, with me helping slow it down with the engine in reverse but pointing of course to seaward.
+Brian Neas i see no wind or current on the water.
+David Duncan look at the flags top left
Ok the guy doesn’t know what he is doing....got it, but the people in the video talking are super annoying.
Yeah they douches!😂
Absolutely amazing video. I cringed the entire time- couldn't imagine being there and seeing real time- I probably would have said: "Oh my God, oh my God!"..........I would have thought that the dumbest, drunkest pilot would have shut 'er down after the 2nd hit and just line-walked it back to the slip, but apparently the dumbest, drunkest pilot does this......
I hope he was held accountable for all the damage he caused, and he should get kicked out of that marina QUICKLY!!
Lauren No, I hope the attained Maritime License if any is completely removed
Lauren white priveledge
This is how I drive boats in Just Cause 2.
Glad someone actually took a video for insurance claims. This boat operator shouldnt be driving a kayak. It was evident people down the dock were trying to help. I have a large boat and would be grateful of video taken on the dock of events like this. One thing I cant stand is hearing people shout instructions from the dock how to operate their boat. Normally those are the people who never go out anyway. Rock on, and keep the film rolling.
The skipper is either drunk, inexperienced or both. Going from fwd to rev with large bursts of power is the true mark of an idiot. Most power yacht skippers are competent and skilled. Unfortunately, this guy gives "stinkboat" drivers a bad name. He should stick to driving his BMW/Mercedes/Cadillac/Whatever. Then he won't have to worry about things like drift, windage, current and no brakes. Either that or buy a 14' sailing dingy and learn how to operate a boat on the water! Oh wait, that would be too hard...

I liked the comment about the guy having had a stroke. We shouldn't be so quick to judge. He probably was drunk, but it could be something else.

Which makes me glad that Idaho doesn't border the ocean.
...and here you are making fun of others. To bolster your ego?
I had some clown do this in our Marina and he hit two boats right next to me. I was lucky he didn't hit our boat but I was trying to tell him what to do and he screamed at me I know what I'm doing and I yelled back at him what are you trying to tell me you're doing this on fucking purpose. What a douche . He hit five boats total .
some people love to just watch (and comment)
Fortunately in my country its hard to get a boat license.
This is why boater education and licensing should be mandatory.
PROP WALK! IT'S A THING PEOPLE! Too funny. Almost feel bad for who ever was at the helm. Almost.
i witnessed someone have this kind of issue and it turned out the poor guy had just had a stroke and was not able to control his limbs.... times like this are when you need to jump in and help out.....
Exactly. Whether they were sick or not they needed a hand. When you see someone in trouble you help
Thats what i was thinking why wouldnt you just come on board and say let me help out.
Jump in a moving boat.... No thanks!
@@Abcsam86 As the Captain you would never let someone you don't know jump aboard your vessel and take command. How would you even know they were capable?
@@brrrett1if i was crashing into everyone's boat then yea i would ask for help. But first of all i would never be in that position to start with and If i saw him about to hit my boat i would def want to do anything to stop that. If you watch the video it would make more since.

most people cannot drive or dock a boat. probally most of the people commenting here to.
Hey Marc, correct but more important, most of them don't know the rules of the road. I have a USGC captain Lic. and it makes me sick what I see out there. Wife wants to go boating a lot but I rather be flying my plane.
A captains licence these days don't mean shit!! All the urinal owners logging their time on their friends boat studying a book and taking a test it's all bullshit. There should be a water test. Also the proper terminology is run a boat not drive a boat.

At a certain point when you've crunched into nearly every boat someone needs to put down their damn phone and help an inexperienced boater get in.
boat handling incompetence on a Biblical scale. Dude needed to be pulled out of the boat, beaten severely, then jailed, THEN banned for life from boats.

You can tell the people filming live very boring lives.

What interesting and surprising moments captured I was very pleased
Personally, I think it is “dumber than dumb,” to suggest that the idea of boarding him is “dumber than dumb.” I do not understand at all what you mean by “unless you know him;” If I see a drunk in a parking lot behind the wheel of a car, I am goinna try to stop him, whatever it takes, before he kills someone.
Also, you Post a video plus do three edits and never find out if he was drunk? Incurious much?
you don't just board a stranger's boat. that's what is meant by "unless you know him". assuming u could get thru the locked gate to the slips, just how would u physically get on that boat? give me step by step instructions. what if he had a gun or was on crack. same for the drunk behind the wheel in your example. u don't take shit like that in your own hands EVER unless you have a death wish. u call the harbor patrol/police. harbor patrol had already been called. i have no idea if he was drunk or high or whatever. i wasn't there to do an investigation.
I didn't see anybody offer to help him out, nice community.

Many of these vessels have coolers on board. And they start out filled, but by the end of the day are empty empty!!!
Your suppose to use the wind in your advantage not against your self, always keep the wind in your face great rule. Don't use thrusters use the wind to guide u in
Fine if the wind is in the right directionb ut that didn't look like a wind problem
In such conditions, with nó wind or current, he shouldn't even have nééded a bow thruster. Come on, learn how to use your engine properly !

Jeez, jump on the boat and help? Jump from what? Swim out, get turned into hamburger. Jump on the boat and be trespassing. Jump on the boat and help, help someone steal a boat" Jump in the front door of a random house and help, say somebody moving a piano....what if it's being stolen? Jump in someones car, take the key? Then you are a car jacker. Oh, the pilot just can't get this aircraft on the ground, let's jump in the cockpit and help.
I knew a guy who was helping a motorist open his car, he had "locked his keys inside". The good Samaritan looked up when a lady said, "Officer that's the man breaking into my car." The "stranded motorist" had disappeared. True story.
And besides, most people, whatever their nationality, don't want or need someone to "jump in and help."
I can’t believe that guy in white Tee shirt keeps jumping on fro man other boat, putting out his 3” fenders as if they will help, BUT never goes up to the bridge to take OVER for gods sake!!! The guy obviously needs help!! Grab the helm and dock it for him!!
"Jump in and help out" How the fuck is anyone supposed to help from land? The guy just keeps throwing from it from forward to reverse while ramming everything in sight. The best you can do from land is tell him what he should already know, "STOP." That and call the police.
he thinks hes driving his vw

Single screw inboard boat + windy day + inexperienced captain = trouble. If he truly has twins he should be using the motors to maneuver.
Scott Schnabel it's a twin screw just have a driver missing a few brain cells
In all my years of American boating I have never seen anything like this before.
The Captain of Kalili works for Allstate Insurance...
sit there an film while the guy does tens of thousands in damage.
Some people should never be allowed to drive anything
I wanna see him get busted, where's the harbor police? So many bad wishes and zero attempt to help! What could be said about folks like these! This is a major problem in America today. No one helps but everyone records. what a shame!
Hes DRUNK a normal person would just idle and yell for help MANY at a Marina would help. Im a 30 year vet boater and TRUE boaters help each other especially on a windy day with current and a lot of free baord
It isn't called the "land of fruits and nuts" for no reason!
I can’t believe the marina and local water patrol weren’t all over this guy. We’ve had that a couple times at our marina and it didn’t turn out good for the boat Captain that is either 100% unqualified to drive a boat or 100% intoxicated. A monkey could drive a boat better than this guy. I do hope it wasn’t a medical condition.
Aww poor people. I feel for them. Poor people are probs stressed out of their mind after hurting that other boat. (I am not saying they are legit poor I’m saying people because it’s politically correct and if I say something politically incorrect my ass will be on NBC nightly news.

The skipper must have been D.R.U.N.K.
Some people just should not have a motorized boat, this guy should have had nothing more than a row boat.
If my boat was one that he hit, i'd have jumped onto his and threw him the fuck overboard. That guy had no business in that marina. Especially repeatedly hitting the same boats over and over, while repeating the same failed maneuver
Bet HIS insurance went through the roof ha ha ha
i really hate the type of people that are narrating this.

In the UK we have a waterway system called the norfolk broads. Its a collection of rivers all interconnected with a few estuaries thrown in. Every summer their are hundreds of hire boats on their, some as big as 40ft. They get about 1/2hr tutition on how to control the boat and then their let loose. It's bumps & scrapes everywhere just like the above. Plenty of youtube crash vides too lol. I've ften fancied taking my own boat on their as we are a days sail from one of the inlet estuaries. Trouble is I don't want to have to put up with people like this.
