All shots were done at real weddings and professional shoots, except for my kids of course 😀. No post stabilization has been applied except for the shot at Big Sur. I slipped a bit while walking on the path.
I was fully prepared to pay $999 for this. That's the quality level that it feels like. When $699 was announced I couldn't believe it. That's an insane deal.

Quick tips on balancing: For 1dxII - lower the tilt arm all the way down to 7. Try to hold the axis that you aren’t adjusting so you can focus on the one that you are. For example, keep the roll arm from moving with your palm while you adjust the tilt.
*Updates 12-3-18 - The recent production model Ronin-S that I have seems to work with Manfrotto plates. Not sure if this is a variance thing or if they've fixed it for all of them.

Hey dude, absolutely loved your review. At 9:43 I believe, you were showing the manfrotto plates and how they are not compatible. I just wanted to bring it to your attention that you tried to slide it on from the back haha. I’m still not sure if they’re compatible but they might be. This vids definitely getting a thumbs up. ✊🏼

Killer review! Finally someone nailing all the information that matters. Also very nice to see that you've been using it with the 1DxII and haven't had any issues. Real stoked on the ability to use some longer lenses/zooms.

Best and most informative Ronin S video I have seen. Thank you so much for sharing your settings. I just got mine today and such a lack of information on how to get started. I'm not new to gimbals but there certainly are a few gaps in figuring our how to set this up.

The Film Poets Yeah I suspected it, as you said, the fact that you're able to achieve such a shot by yourself, without any crew, only with your setup is definitly a real selling point, both for the Ronin S and 1DX2 (well, price set aside ^^)

Being able to touch the screen to focus on the back of the Canon is pure gold!
I think the Sony users don't understand how valuable that feature is.....especially at a wedding! I love my 1DX Mark II and 5D Mark IV. The focus system is crazy good!
Doesn't Sony offer the same option? I can touch focus my Sony.
ekphotography The Canon touch focus is much better and more accurate. From having both cameras the Canon is way more reliable.
Jason Belkov - How do you find the AF compares between your 1DX2 and 5D4? In particular, do you ever use the FlexiZone Large Area AF (which the 1DX2 doesn't have as it just has the small area)?

One question I have Matt is whether you are finding that the Ronin-S is making your edits easier? I’m hoping that I can accomplish more in-camera with this, and so save time on the edit for fast turnaround/more productivity. Is that your experience? If so, would love to hear more about ways to use the Ronin-S so as to save time in the edit...
Hey Tom, I can't say that it's made anything faster for me, since everything that I wanted to be smooth I'd shoot on the Ronin-M - But if you're coming from shooting handheld then that might be the case, especially if you're spending time finding the least shaky shots and applying post-stabilization etc. -Matt

In the video you said you get smoother shoots from the Ronin S than the Ronin M right? So why you prefer Ronin M?

Hey there - Thank you for this video - it is highly informative, and I really like your presentation style and the format of having the titles/timestamps in the production. Much more professional than some other channels I follow. While I am not a wedding photographer by any means (outdoor conservation/adventure stuff) the application of many of the principles you present via wedding is really useful. I did the same thing. When I inquired about it they said they haven't gotten them in from DJI but should by the end of the month. Slightly aggravating.
End of which month? June or July? It says it releases on July 9th
Yes, bought when I pre-ordered it, it stated June 23rd. I am sure they are getting all the orders from the DJI direct site before they ship to B&H. I even have a screen shot.
Never been able to afford any kind of gimbals in the market. So, sweet of to give away Ronin-S, the gimbal that’s been a talk in the market now. Would love to have it.

I make wedding films and I use to have a Ronin M as well and you are totally right about being fast and going unnoticed... very hard to do with the Ronin M. Really great review and info. I picked up the original Ronin not long after release and it's been amazing ONCE I figured out my preferred settings. It's great to see someone break down the configuration options you get with the app because there's so much customization there to make the Ronin work for you personally. The M, MX and 2 never tempted me, but the S has got me ready for an upgrade!
