Although I can appreciate what you did encounter. The tracking feature was completely overlooked. The fact that the crane 3 lab can track from any hdmi input sets it apart from all the others. Which is kind of a big deal when it comes to gimbals as its the first gimbal to track from any camera or camcorder from it's hdmi output.
mike deen nope. But it’s a solid, machined piece of gear. It’s a lot more solid than the Crane, which I’ve now been able to get hands on as well. With the addition of the handle (which can be taken off if you chose...you can’t with the Crane), it’s all that I had hoped the C3 would be. The software is always the kicker for me, on these purchases and DJI whoops everyone’s butt in that department.
mike deen looks like it went up a few bucks in price. I’ve got the Pocket 4K as my gimbal cam, so the $499 Ronin S and a cheap handle works for me. Man, you have no idea how helpful this is to me right now. I’ve just recently bought all my own personal camera gear for the first time and a gimbal is the last thing I need. I knew DJI and Zhiyun were both great brands for this but I didn’t know what to choose. Both are very pricey so I needed to make the right decision. A mentor of mine recommends all DJI products (but he has the M, not the S) so I was starting to lean toward DJI... this confirmed it for me. THANK YOU :)
I bought the small rig handle which basically turns the ronin into the ultimate gimbal. Best of both worlds. And for a cheep upgrade it makes the ronin s dominate the field still.
Really enjoy your no bullshit, raw, presentation style! Strong info and clean to the point delivery, like in all your video You convey a "matter of factness" kind of like "trust me I know what I am talking about without sounding cocky" Really appreciate your stuff Parker!

I think the crane 3 will take your time longer to get used with it but it will not let you down trust me :D sorry for my bad english
Thanks Parker, love being a part of FTF,.. you have been a great help and inspiration for my fence channel content creation, keep smiling you are like a King of Content!
Parker, Great comparison of Zhiyun Crane 3 and Ronin S. One thing as as former Steadicam owner /op: I would never put my gear into the wind stream! Its always possible to hang out comfortably in the rear of an SUV with lift gate open, strapped in for safety, and follow your subject or even shoot from the side. A sliding door minivan offers more comfort and safety for those side of the driver shots if needed. I m considering the Zhiyun Weebil only because I m retired and just need a good gimbal for RE video work and creative stuff! thanks for great video!!
Great presentation! I've rented both and both had the similar issues. Crane 3S is a beast and out performed the Ronin for what i needed it for. I ended up purchasing the Crane 3S. All those 3 year old issues have been resolved.
Dude, I’m getting ready to buy a motorized gimbal, I have been looking and comparing for some time...I had picked the Ronin-S mainly due to price, I believe I saw it on Amazon for like $550 but then I saw the Crane-3 and liked how it looks and its “low-mode” feature.....your comment about your arms getting tired quicker with the Crane-3 plus battery life...that’s crucial, I don’t think people realize how much that matters....this shit was on point and I thank you for it....Ronin-S for me.
Rhyan De Guzman I got the fly cam redoing solely on Parker’s opinion and it doesn’t disappoint, keep in mind that Parker still prefers steadicams to gymbals when he does real estate and wedding and damn it’s steady if it’s not it’s not balanced
This comment might look like biased toward Zhiyun, but here are facts that are missing from the comparison. Software can always be improved and fixed +1 (possible) point for Zhiyun Zhiyun takes 18650 batteries, that are cheap to replace and can be used with other hardware. DJI has a proprietary expensive battery +1 point for Zhiyun Zhiyun accessories are cheaper then DJI, and DJI base model does not even have cable for camera. And that 20cm cable cost's about 20€ for DJI users. DJI get's you hooked for cheap and then milks you for accessories. +1 point for Zhiyun Zhiyun has much more buttons for modes etc around the body. Zhiyun also has a OLED display, witch DJI lacks. +1 point for Zhiyun Zhiyun can control zoom and focus at the same time, with separate controllers. Can anyone confirm it on the DJI? Zhiyun can even take zoom and focus motors, can that also be confirmed for DJI? And someone pointed out that DJI had stabilised (IS) lens while Zhiyun had not? What is that about?
Just wrapped a shoot using a BMPCC with a pretty long front heavy 24mm lens on the Ronin S and we ended up sliding the camera forward and duck taped a paper weight to the side to counterbalance the side weight and it worked perfect.
That's brilliant Parker. Thanks. :) I have just purchased the crane3 after having a Crane2 for a year. Always keen to see how the gimbals stack up. One of the things I think would be useful is showcasing how different cameras and lenses stack up. For me, using a Canon 80D camera with a Sigma 18 - 35mm for instance has given great cinematic results but is really challenging in certain conditions. With a strong background in editing I have found the Sony cameras painful to colour grade and the Panasonic camera footage noisy compared to the Canon footage (just my take on it). If you ever felt in the mood to review "which camera and lens setup works the best" - I would say you would get a lot of interest. Thanks again. A brilliant run through of Crane vs Ronin. A
Oh. I just viewed the 1D vs Sony A7iii so that helped answer a few questions. But still the combination of Camera + lens on a stabiliser would be a useful thing. :).
Great Video! Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I'm a real estate shooter and I'm going to buy one of these pretty quick to shoot videos for my clients. My one question is this...can either of these do motion lapses at night? In other words, since night shots are longer exposures, they look better if the camera isn't moving. So, can either one of these do that (stop while the camera is exposing)?
Just like Feed Me Media and a couple of others said: thanks for the to-the-point, nicely done, totally relevant review without all the meandering blah blah that so many other reviewers get afflicted with
The crane 3 was also designed to place the second handle on your chest or shoulder. Twas mentioned at NAB Something you omitted. So not a fair comparison with the handling. I personally own the Ronin S and like it
Sir i really like your review, quick go to the point and also speak fluently without wasting time . Absolutely gonna subscribe. Please keep this routine .
Your review was the deciding factor for me picking up the DJI Ronin S its solid as a Rock, Build quality is really good. When i was at BH comparing the two i had to go with the Ronin S. Thank Bud.
This has been such a helpful video for me. I was considering on buying the Zhiyun 3 for my real estate videography but the ease of control and build is important for me. Thank you for comparing the two 😊
Love the innovative design of the Zhiyun! The Robin can definitely be awkward at time. But it’s REALLY hard to argue with DJI’s overall featureset, reliability, and usability. Thanks for an awesome comparison!
Coming from a Zhiyun weebill lab, I wouldn’t go back to get any Zhiyun product, period. I always got shaky footage with it, and apparently it’s a major issue among the users of that gimbal. I finally ended up selling it and getting a DJI ronin-S and my footages are always smooth, you can definitely tell the difference in quality.
Great real use review and comparison Parker. This shows the potential of the DJI Ronin S and the Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab better than any specs list or so called youtubers' "reviews" that are just a long speech with a few insignificant images thrown in here and there.
THX for review! What do you think about these: - Gudson Moza Air 2S - ZHIYUN WEEBILL 3 - DJI RS3 (Pro) What would be currently the best option to about 700-800 € for filming indoor and outdoor dance events, dance couples in daylight ? Camera and lens can be purchased flexibly - possibly Blackmagic Pocket
Wow... this was really, really a great review. Well done. I am currently in the market for a real tripod and fluid head ( I do not want a Manfrotto) and came across this crane 3. I don't own any gimbals so since I'm just not finding a set of decent sticks and a fluid head for $800 I thought maybe adding this to my tool kit. But I really do need a good fluid head. What I have now i just can't live with anymore.
If you triple tap the mode button on the Ronin S it will go into flashlight mode. Then all you have to do is flick the joystick left or right and it will automatically rotate and perform the 360 move.
Great review.... I use the DJI Ronin S purchased a month ago and still learning all the tricks.. Like it as is smaller than the larger rigs and lets me get different angles easier.. Personal preference and what you are using it for..
Hello Idol. please make a video tips for using DJI Ronin S. Because I have a problem with my self using that stabilizer. the gimbal is good but I still having a shaky video :(
Thanks for the review. Have you ever fallen or dropped a gimbal and camera setup while running or hanging out the window or doing other crazy risky stunts?
Great comparison! I have issues with my Ronin-S when trying to do slider style movements- even with the trigger pressed it doesn't stay locked facing the same way for much distance! My old Crane 1v2 used to do it until the camera hit the side motor! Can you do a video on how you've got your Ronin-S set up?
oh wait, just heard you say it's only available on your course. Thanks for this video anyway! Saved me from wanting to jump ship and to try and find out how to set up my Ronin-S better.
Chris Wilmshurst try both. I had the ronin s and sold it for the Crane 3. I love it much better. The camera controls work really well with my EOS R . Plus I am a skinny guy so the weight distribution was way better
very well described, and very instructive, taking your comment from a no commercial interest as you mention. Im just starting a channel, related to Hospitality business, so I bought few things, and also a Sony a7iii, and I m looking for a good reasonable price gimbal adapted to my camera, so I think Im going to buy the Ronin. Thanks very much again for sharing your thoughts. All the very best to you.
Hi Parker, great video, always enjoyed and liked how clear and straight informative your amazing videos are. Just one side note, me and my friend in China we also reviewed the Crane 3 LAB and managed to attach a RED without any counter weights or difficult riggings. It works amazing, and 360 roll even works without any hassle. You should try it too with your RED :D. It might be a great alternative for you instead of the Movi for simpler quicker shoots. For more details feel free to contact. Have a nice day
I have the Moza Air 2. Love it! Batteries are cheaper and easier to come by than the Ronin S but are not as quick to replace. I have mounted my Fuji X-T3 with battery grip and 50-140 F2.8 lens on it and it handles it perfectly. No motor vibration or glitches. The app is great. The only downside is that the handle does not come off as it does on the Ronin S which makes it not as easy to travel with.
Most of the points go to the crane is about the low mode, however, these could be easily fixed (or achieved) by buying a handle accessories for ronin s, and that's solid and removable any time
Thanks for the video. I'm sticking with my Ronin S then. I thought some of the features on the Crane 3 would be better, but it seems Crane 3 will cause faster fatigue and I like the longer battery life on my Ronin S. Many shoots I end up spending 3/4 of the battery and at that point, the voltage sag doesn't power the motor enough. Definitely need the battery life for longer shoots.
Great comparison Parker... I so agree with you about the awkwardness of the Crane 3 when it comes time to pick it up and fold the tripod and even more so, time to unfold the tripod and put it down. And you are right it is SUPER heavy to yield. But the biggest issues i ran into was actually making the functions work with my A7iii. None of the AV / TV / ISO worked in filming mode. They worked in photo mode (M) only, but I could not trigger filming video while in this mode. I really don''t get it. the whole purpose of a gimbal is to stabilize VIDEO. Why would I need to use it for photo? Zhiyun website tutorial shows setting up the gimbal in M mode and said to use M mode to film. I don't think so LOL. I could not get the app to connect to the crane either, no matter what I tried. The record button did work in filming mode BUT there was a serious lag everytime you pressed the button, both to start and to end filming. If shooting a wedding for example, that kind of lag might be the difference between capturing a candid moment and missing it. I also had issues with external monitor, in some settings it would go black. One more thing: attaching an external monitor was a problem too. It seemed to always be in the way and would loosen up due to simple gravity as the holes are located on the sides. Compared to my current gimbal where I have side bar and monitor mounts directly above the handles, never any problem. Anyway, that's wy i am returning my crane today :( and I was so excited to get it, so the disappointment is even worse.
There's a handle for the Ronin which can be purchased for cheap in eBay and it will do the same job as the Crane, cheaper and longer battery. You know which one is my go to!
Hey Parker the wind resistance test looked sick . If you don't mind me asking could you give me a few tips to make my footage of the Ronin as as smooth as yours while shooting cars rolling
I mean like like what mode do you prefer , what are your preferred motor settings for them , etc ? I would really like to shoot my car rolling like that tbh
Finally, a you tube reviewer that gets it-- right to the point, no filler or over-the-top personalities! Great work.

A $20 handle for the Ronin S can mimic the design of the Crane 3.
Jason Berardi I’ll have to check that out. That’s the number 1 reason I want the crane 3. Is it a dji product?
mike deen nope. But it’s a solid, machined piece of gear. It’s a lot more solid than the Crane, which I’ve now been able to get hands on as well. With the addition of the handle (which can be taken off if you chose...you can’t with the Crane), it’s all that I had hoped the C3 would be.

Would love love to see the Moza Air 2 vs the DJI Ronin S. Glad you're back Mr Walbeck!
Both of them look sweet. Originally just off looks I was going with the zhiyun but the dji footage looked better to me
Ive owned both, and I am drastically happier with my Ronin-S.
Hardware aside, I just trust DJI’s software. Love their drones, love my Ronin S.

I ordered the "Agimbal Gear DH09 Handle Grip" for my Ronin S.

Great video i just disagree on one point : you can fit a big and large camera on the Crane 3. I use it with BM Ursa 12k and it works perfectly
The Crane 3 is Dope! I bought one when it came out and it does so much more than the Ronin S just my opinion.
Parker Walbeck is the best, a biggest inspiration!

Excellent job bro, the best and concrete comparative video
best review on RUclips
Billiantly-produced, meat and potatoes review, with just enough detail and none of the crap. Very, very well done!
Ronin s vs moza air 2 witch one to get so confused and thx a lot for the helpful videos I learned a lot from u🙏
Moza air 2 better than dji Ronin s
Good review. Thank u so much.. i have Canon XA 10. can u please suggest which is the best gimbal..
Excellent content. What's your editing software or softwares?
I believe I just saw an ad before this video about film with this same guy 😂
Parker Walbeck you are a legend
He just made a grand entrance....Parker Walbeck
There's a handle for the Ronin which can be purchased for cheap in eBay and it will do the same job as the Crane, cheaper and longer battery. You know which one is my go to!
Another great video. I recently bought the Ronin S after watching the video against Crane2 and now I know I made the right choice. Ty man! :)
I've got that Ronin S and my brother bought that Zhiyun 3.... What crane do you use for your weddings projects???
Use a glidecam or flycam lol
