  • "Questioning Valor: The Debate Over Rob O'Neill's bin Laden Claims" delves into the controversial narrative put forward by Rob O'Neill, the former Navy SEAL who asserts he was the one to kill Osama bin Laden during the 2011 raid. This segment explores the varying accounts and perspectives within the SEAL community, and the broader implications of claiming individual credit in a highly coordinated and secretive team operation. Through interviews, expert analysis, and a review of official statements, we aim to uncover the complexities behind this historic event and the ongoing debate over the veracity of O'Neill's claim, highlighting the importance of teamwork and the shadowy nature of military operations.

As someone who was attached to 7th SFG one two occasions (Korea and Afghanistan) and was also attached to a small TF run by a Seal team, I can say I was impressed by them all. However, I saw the effects of the SF guys having been through training where you can be “peered out” by being an asshole. Rangers and SF can go through the training and vote other guys out based on if they treat the others like shit or generally just don’t work well with others. It doesn’t happen often but it keeps guys from becoming jerks. To this day I’m still friends with a few SF guys despite not being SF myself. I did come across quite a few Seals and more than a few Marinea who were dickheads. But I never encountered a SF guy who gave anyone a problem.

@@americandissident9062I think honestly SF requires a bit more schooling and education. Their mission set is a little more philanthropic and tends to require and attract people with better motives. SEALs just want to kick in doors and blow shit up.

I guess another thing is that SF and Rangers don’t have a “rockstar” appeal to it. It’s just another job in the military, a cooler one but still within it.
Seals look at themselves as an autonomous fraternity more so than a unit under the DOD. The marketing for recruiting is attracting the wrong personalities

@fredred5037 something about Army and Marine Corps special units is that most are drawn from the ranks of the infantry or have to undergo the training before ascending the pipeline. The infantry, especially airborne or LRSC units have some incredible guys there who aren't even in special operations, so there's a goid pool to pick from. In the SEAL community, they draw strictly from feeder MOS that usually join with the intention of becoming a SEAL. There's no appreciation for being on the bottom as a private in the 82nd or the USMC. You ascend and are now considered the most elite of warriors.

I met Pat Tillman in 1998 at The Vet before an Eagles game. I was there to collect toys for Toys For Tots with 20-25 other Marines in our blues and our Corpsman in his blues. Of course, we were very early. It was drizzling and cold so to staff at The Vet let us in.
He was a class act. Our Corpsman went to ASU when Pat and Jake Plummer were there.
Doc saw Jake warming up and called over to him and Jake saw the crowd of us and ran to the locker room. Doc then saw Pat warming up with a teammate and called over to him. Pat and his teammate ran over to us. He introduced himself and shook all of our hands, he was very interested in us, why we enlisted, and how we liked being in the service. You know how kids look when meeting a professional athlete? That's how he looked while talking to us.
He was a really nice guy. I'll never forget the time I met him.

I was an infantry Marine for 8 years from 2001-2009. Did three combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. We took great pride in being professionals and living up to the great history and honoring the traditions of the Marines that came before us. I really enjoy the way that you are teaching the importance of accountability. During the after action reports of every mission we talked about the positives for about a minute. The mistakes were always the longest part of the debrief even if they were just the smallest attention to detail. Only focusing on what was successful is going to give people that don’t understand the military a false impression of how things actually operate. Many situations that have ended in tragic results never address the failures that lead up to situations completely breaking down. I completely agree with what you are saying. Thank you for your service I always enjoy listening to other veterans talk about the experience they had.

As a former Scout and have multiple tours and knows how it all works, I've never believed anything Rob has said..And as for Red Win 32:22 g I've always thought there is a lot of cover up in that operation. The seal community has gone total off the deep end in cover ups and more. I have no faith in todays leadership in the new woke military. Just look who is running the military. Look at Milley and Loyd Austin those 2 and others have single handedly destroyed the military. My LT in Iraq was SF and in 22 he died after getting his 2nd mandatory booster. Im so glad I was medically retired after multiple tours in 14.
I worked with a lot of the guys from 10th group at YTC and FTLewis training up the DEA. And all those guys were great to work with.
But I've never particularly cared for the seals I've meet. They always thought they were above everyone and could do what ever they wanted with no repercussions.

Pete Blaber who commanded these Delta AFOs advised Gen Trebon against the Seals joining late but he was shut down. He talks about this in "Men, Mission and Me". Slab followed orders from DEVGRU and the rest is history and the greatest heroism by Chappie. As documented, DEVGRU led the fight for Slab's MOH and stiffled Chappies process by the AFSOC.

From other books and interviews, it sounded like Slab did not want the Medal of Honor, and the BS came from the command. I've heard interviews that showed where Seals were told to tow the line or else by the command. And judging by the higher-up leadership and the actions and words of the joint chief I can believe that. They should be held accountable for not just the bs with the seals but more importantly, the withdrawal from Afghanistan. I can't believe that they are not all in prison along with the Biden administration. I'm not a Democrat or Republican nor a Trump or Biden fan. Frankly, they both are an embarrassment to our country.

The official government story is inconsistent. If Bin Laden was killed at Abbottabad it was likely a permissive ingress. Also disposal of Bin Laden's body was witnessed by no one on the Carl Vinson aircraft carrier who is willing to say so. The story of a hostile ingress into Pakistan, and being chased by the Pak air force on the way out is not consistent with a US aircraft flying over Pakistan the next day on the way to the Carl Vinson in the Indian Ocean.

Jay, you have my respect for covering this subject. It's a touchy subject with most Americans. I remember the messed up photoshop image of dead Bin Laden on the news when this was happening. In the book, they said Bin Ladens head was cracked in half and they had to mush it back together to take conformation pictures. It didn't make sense. The whole burial at sea to keep him from being a martyr? my Muslim friends said that's the most ridiculous thing they've ever heard. Just lots of weird shit

It’s because Osama bin Laden had been dead for years and the Corrupt Barry Sotoro aka Barack Obama administration needed a win so they faked bin Ladens death. There was a Pakistani parliament member, who was a woman that gave an interview for the news saying bin Laden had died a few years earlier from complications from diabetes. She was found deceased a week later. The Whole World Is A Stage…

After every mission that includes raids, ambushes, reconnaissance, hostage rescue etc the Team conducts an immediate Hotwash/debrief. Each member openly contributes to it and discusses their part and even tells if they failed or that they need improvement on their TTPs. Killing or capturing UBL was the main target and the singular focus/decisive action of this mission. The DEVGRU Squadron/Team would have confirmed this during the hotwash and O'Neill would have claimed then that he killed UBL, period.

I have to say this take down effort of another soldier is really low. It just reeks of weakness and spite. Dissecting everything Rob O’Neill said as literal and infallible. At 18:19 Rob didn’t mean he said “okay I’m back.” What he was saying (and I’ve seen many of his interviews) was- he was thinking to himself “okay I’m back.” No place did he say he literally said it out loud. This one example is a microcosm of many digs at a guy who should be respected but isn’t. You both should recognize that your talk is shameful.

Are you referring when they turned their backs and went in hard on him because he was initially talking about being a SEAL on his channel? He addressed that in an interview and then I also saw another interview where another SEAL stated that if they don't like a guy because he's not popular or doesn't join in socially much with the rest of the team, they tend to single him out and turn their back on him. He also suggested that it seems some don't like when someone like Mr. Ballen gets very popular and successful after leaving the teams. Instead of being supportive and having their back.
Mr. Ballen admitted he was never really a drinker and I think maybe that had something to do with the lack of socializing with his team, which many may already be aware drinking together is just part of the culture, when they are not training or getting ready for a mission. 🤔
Unless they literally DID beat him with a broomstick? Which I would not be that surprised about. Worse things have happened within the teams (or so I've heard).

Even if he fired the 3rd pr 4th shot he should have been proud of that and who knows the navy may have told him to run with that story as he retired

If Rob didn’t kill him why doesn’t the person who did just say something and stop all of this?

I've heard Rob's story on at least half a dozen interviews and it always sounded extremely odd to me. It's just extremely rehearsed and almost like he's programmed. He tells the same story and side quibs word for word. While consistency usually is an indicator of the truth, acting like you're reading a script certainly isn't.

You can't expect Shipley to speak on this if the other men in the team don't. Clearly the team is ok with O'neil being the hero. Perhaps it was even a decision they all made together for all we know.

What do you think of Barbecue and what the CORE group are doing regarding Haiti right now?
How would you suggest the people have their representation of what they want regarding government and not having foreign governments speaking for them?
How can citizens stuck in the country who aren't part of the armed resistance, protect themselves and stay safe & how can the people of haiti charge ahead for a brighter future?
    Regards.
