It looks programming the areas and plot progression were the primary concern. Maybe that required the most Nintendo approval, so they focused on getting that all finalized before nailing down all the specifics of the combat mechanics? Because yeah, it seems like a lot of the enemies are either not programmed or in a rough state.

Don Fly could have been an upgraded enemy to the Fighter Fly, like how many other RPGs have palette swaps or similar enemies as harder enemies later on.

If it was in the final, it likely would resemble the final design of the chuck guy, but yellow instead and with a shield Glurp: aside from being very unfinished in terms of functionality, it basically is indifferent form the final Blue virus: very different from the final design and looks more like it was meant to be a "bean" version of the enemy. (and into the remakes as well) very interesting as for queen bean and the popple and rookie battles those mustve been unfinished at the time of the demos creation so no wonder they werent implemented yet

Change byte at 0x1E3BF4 to change the enemy loaded into the Bowser encounter at the start of the game. The item table for the third save file is at around 02002C25
Its interesting to me that the viruses would have any sort of beta design almost like the dr.Mario variants weren't even going to be in the game....cause like they obviously already had those exist in dr.Mario so why deviate from their design that much?
The IDs don't really match up because all the enemies in the parts of the demo that are actually meant to be accessible are duplicates and shoved at the start of the list. However, if you take the order into account, the Malibut does indeed appear after the Mecha Blooper, just as Purukogi appears after the Mecha Blooper here! As for Don Fly, the order doesn't match at all - mayyyyyybe the Oho Jees replaced it? They're close, but not quite there.
Seeing as the Mecha Blooper is there are the Clumph and Ice Snifits there as well? The Glurps are there as you showed in the video and it is a jokes end enemy like those other 2 are. Also is trunkles overworld sprite anyware in the files seeing as all the other bosses except koopalings(who just have placeholder sprites) have overworld ones but it wasnt there when you showed the desert area so it could have been either a later addition to the game or just not showing up for whatever reason like some of the enemies you shwoed in this video arent in the areas they are fought in. What are the enemies you didnt show in the video who are the same as the final game that you didnt mention?
The Glurps being there originally makes sense as for whatever reason slimes or goo stuff has been associated with labs in some some things before and it would fit in with the mice,beakers and viruses theme wise.
I never for a second suggested that the Glurps in the final game don't bite or inflict poison. I said that their attack is unfinished, which it obviously is.
