The JP version trying to fix all the glitches of the international version only to create the most broken glitch of them all is just hilarious to me.

Correct me if I’m wrong: but there’s a difference between the USA and Japanese versions at the first Fawful Battle at the start of the game. In the USA version, Fawful’s tell is by the color of his text; but in the Japanese version, it’s the direction his headgear’s looking

English version is a color difference in the text. Japanese version, the entire text bubble is different between each target as well as the text being red or green.

Ngl, I wish region differences videos also mentionned european changes.
It's always "Japanese vs English" or "Japan vs USA", would be nice to also have "Japan vs USA vs Europe", because there are a whole lot of games that also have europe-specific changes. Sometimes, it's even the european version being closer to the japanese one! No idea about Superstar Saga on that, though. You mentionned they were the same as USA so ig it is.
    Nice video btw! Great work

While they're not videos, the cutting room floor wiki documents regional differences across all regions, and also unused content. I'd recommend giving them a read if you haven't yet.

@@residays I spent hours over horus reading TCRF pages :p
But well, would be nice to have it represented in videos. But yeah, most of the time those videos just take info from TCRF anyway

Prolly one of my all time favorites, I still have my og copy.
Off topic but it rolls back in. I've been collecting every gameboy and I bought a Gameboy Micro from Sendico. I didn't realize it came with some games.
I now have Japanese and English Superstar Saga

Most of these changes are because the localized version of the game is built off an earlier version of the game. They didn't have enough time to build it off the final version, due the early North American release date. This is evident with it having more bugs than the Japanese version

@@cobb797 just a music change between versions. the fawful fight at the end plays the popple theme on international version and cackletta theme on japanese version

I think you forgot to mention how there is a glitch with Cackletta and Trunkle where you get 900 EXP and 1030 EXP respectively, but this being completely unintended. Pretty sure that's fixed in the Japanese version so you get the intended EXP.
    This happens because:
For Cackletta, there are three Cacklettas: the true one and the two fake ones. They all give 300 EXP. In Japanese version, you only get 320 EXP.
For Trunkle, there are four mini Trunkles, the true Trunkle and his tree. The tree gives 150 EXP, the true body gives 440 EXP and all four mini Trunkles give 110 EXP, and defeating just the tree for example gives you 1030 EXP since it sums up all EXP. In Japanese, only the true Trunkle gives EXP, and you get 500.
Oh, also, if I can give feedback on the video itself, the background gameplay was incredibly distracting. Otherwise cool video :)
Edit 2: oh no you also forgot about the fire dash teleportation glitch exclusive to japanese :( RIP

Excellent research work! Superstar Saga is my favorite game, and yet I didn't know to what extent the Japanese version was changed.

Can you change the region on the Nintendo switch port?

    • @murmilio42069
      @murmilio42069  Год назад +5

yes you can. if you are US switch, you already have access to both US and Europe games.
for japanese, it does require you to have a nintendo account that has your region set to Japan (really easy, just choose Japan on sign up) then you can link it to your switch to download the Japanese GBA app.
Its completely free, you only need the JP account to actually access the JP app.
