The Mario & Luigi spin off as a whole is perfect. Like we went from celebrity fame with Luigi (SSS), to playing Back to the Future with the Baby Bros (PIT), to playing Crash Twinsanity with Bowser (BIS), to playing Psychonauts inside Luigi's head (DT), to introducing the multiverse...I mean Marioverse to Paper Mario way before Spiderman did (PJ), and now we're gonna be playing Wind Waker / One Piece with that weird pig thing that replaced Starlow (M&L 6 BS)
Bowsers inclusion in Dream Team was amazing and built off of his character development in BiS perfectly. His betrayal of Antasma was such a great twist and, after having spent a whole game seeing him go from a joke to a competent military leader, felt *SO* earned. I love this quadrilogy

@@FlaringStardust yeah, when you have Bowser's Inside Story (and Dream Team), its tough to even compete let alone be better than, and it just happened to lack the extensive cast of colorful and unique races of NPCs and such that the series is famous for, which is probably why its so frowned upon
I don't have an issue with bowser ending up as the final boss, especially since i was pretty satisfied with antasmas final battle anyway. My personal issue with the villains as a whole is that they just don't do anything for most of the game. At the start, antasma destroys the blimp and kidnaps peach. Bowser then appears and they team up. After that, they don't do all that much aside from miscellaneous attempts of conquest. You end up spending far more time fighting neutral foes who are simply annoyed at you, than you do actually fighting the villains. That's not inherently a bad thing, character is one of the series' best aspects. But it really makes the villains feel like they're just waiting for you to whoop them, especially when select moments show you what they can do, but they choose not to do anything for most of the game anyway. The villain team up isn't the problem here, it's that the villains simply aren't the focus of the story.
That's why Fawful was so good as a villain. He had the army and the tech to back up his power, but unlike Bowser and Antasma, he was constantly working to make sure your work would be in vain. Look at the very first boss, the Sea-Pipe Statue. Fawful went out of his way to weaponize the statue instead of it already being that way. The fact that you know it was Fawful that did it makes him a better villain.
@@cartner1166same thing with the shroobs being a looming threat for the entire game and even more so since they were a lot more threatening, capable and desperate.
This is honestly one of my issues as well. Aside from the Beach, Mount Pajamaja, the desert, and more, in which the villains just appear and you barely get to fight them because of just how overpowered what they have is, and the fact that they seem to want to hang further back and play a longer game rather than immediately pummel the brothers and their gang. A lot of what happens is more blindsiding and hitting the Bros. where they cannot fight back. I would honestly like it if Luigi got a sleeping ability along with Dreambert that allowed them to keep tabs on Antasma whereas Bowser had to rely on sending more minions after the brothers and be more of the muscle of Antasma's tactical Anti-Dream spy network. You know, get the villains up and running faster than the heroes at first, then let the villains come straight after the Bros with everything they have because they can just replace or retrieve whatever they want with relative ease thanks to Antasma's and Kamek's collective efforts to effective teleport in minions, then teleport them back out to a safe space and heal them up before dropping them back into the fight. They can basically infinitely attempt to take over every single thing and attack with as much as they please with Antasma's knowledge of the Dream World, let Antasma be a viable threat, and overturn every single private part of Pi'illo Island. Go further than the Bat Theme for Antasma, go deep into nightmares and drop everything you've got onto the Bros, raise the stakes, and make sure to make the Bros have to run after Antasma. Fawful and the Shrooms were able to be viable threats, let our new villain up the ante a lot more than Fawful and the Shrooms ever could. Of course, this whole thing was mostly because of the fact that Dream Team was on weaker hardware. Okay, the new switch is evidently coming out, put these old games onto that system and fix and comb through their issues. For retro fans, there is a Nintendo Switch Online service that is severely lacking in retro modern content, play everything that was ever original on there.
@StoryTeller796 It would be awesome if nintendo re-released every mario and luigi game onto the switch. It would be cool if they reworked every game into the style of mario and luigi brothership, while also adding new stuff to improve the games. But that would only happen in my dreams.
Yeah, the most they do is steal the dream stone and play music atop a mountain. Meanwhile the game will have you explore mostly unrelated dreams and fight things like the soul of the dream stone, Big Massiff and his dreamt up kids, and the Volcano. Even when they kidnap Peach they don’t show up for it with the job being done by Kamek and/or the Minion Trio. Though Idk about Antasma not being talked about enough. One of the things I remember the most from Dreambert are his speeches about Antasma and the state of the pillos… and INSOLENCE!!! Man, I wish I could replay this game:(
@@voltron77I agree, I don’t like this game as much as the others. The story is ok but the final boss sucks and the song also sucks compared to the other final themes. Lastly the attacks are bad! You have no splash attacks and the fire flower was ruined in this game so Luigi has no splash attacks. Everything else about the game is fine but these reasons make me not like this game as much as the other games.
OMG FINALLY A DREAM TEAM SUPPORTER!!! DREAM TEAM IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST M&L GAME (I'm replaying it again rn) It's just amazing, the comedy, the cutscenes, the dialogue, AND LUIGI!

Bowser really was not needed in this story. But unfortunately since Mario is a main cast member in the game Bowser has to show up too. I love the hell out of this game man. Luigi has always been and always will be my favorite Mario character and I hope now that AlphaDream is gone they don't throw away everything this series has done for all these characters.
In the context of the world building that the series had set up with Bowser being nothing more than a stupid comedy clown trying to be the bad guy, I think that the twist with him overthrowing Antasma was well earned. The only thing that would have made it better is if there was an indication that it would happen in a scene before that scene. Maybe Bowser having a conversation with Kamek about something.
I think they took this game as an advantage to prove how much of a true villain Bowser is, by betraying Antasma at the end, which ended up proving that Bowser is the real boss in here and will never give it up However, this came with a cost of Antasma's charisma which is sad

@@voltron77I haven't played Inside Story in a good while but I thought the only reason he helped with the Dark Star was just because he wanted revenge on Fawful for taking his castle and minions and didn't want another villain to take the Mushroom Kingdom instead of himself
I played dream team years ago as my first Mario and Luigi game and back then all I really heard online was hate to the game. Now as I’m getting back into the series because of brothership I am seeing much more people praising dream team and that makes me happy because I absolutely love dream team.
Playing the giant battles on a 3DS is so much fun! Just a quick note for when you eventually play it on 3DS (if you haven't already) is that the Zeekeeper and giant Bowser battles have a bit of a glitch where during the tilt controls sections, they will sometimes become unresponsive and Luigi will stay in one corner. The speaker, of all things, is the cause of this, and turning down the volume or muting altogether during these gyroscope sections fixes this. The vibrations from the sound and music are enough to mess with the gyroscope and there's nothing in the game's programming to account for it or lessen the sensitivity.
@@ProsecutorZekrom I have found success in turning off the volume - the glitch happened with the sound on, I turn off the sound and immediately I regain control of Luigi.
People say that, but honestly every M&L game has tutorials that just drag on besides Partners in Time. I don’t even dislike it cause I love every M&L game. It’s just weird how people hold that against Dream Team but ignore the other games doing it.
when there is something the game exceeded at, it was its music... its so iconic, wonderful, warm, highlights every moment and aspect of the game and the antasma bossfight... holy moly, that song is so epic, its my favorit boss music ever out of every boss music I know
its just a little bit sad it was a limited by the 3DS and its lack of Bass. so the producers of the songs build them so they kick evan without it, but because of that it sounds sometimes a little weird when you have headphones, and there should be bass
It is my favorite mario and luigi game, i dont see the things to hate on this game, if you erase the final bowser fight, the game is flawless, it has unique species of characters, the environments are just genious, the dialogues are funny, the dream world is fun and its not as exhausting as the BiS 2d dungeons, the music is mind blowing, it has a balanced difficulty, etc But this is my opinion, feel free to think whatever you like

I never got the hate towards dream team. People always cite tutorials as one of the main reasons, but I don't think it has that many compared to any other game in the series
From what I’ve seen the only hate that come towards this game is 1. Amount of Tutorials 2. Bowser being in the Story (again) 3. The Gyro Controls on the Giant Battles 4. The massive difficulty spike at the final bosses? 5. Being a sort-of Bowsers Inside Story Replica
How is the game a replica of BiS?, the Dream World isn't the same as Bowser's Insides and that's fine, I don't know how one can compare if they're so different
the giant battles are not bad at all, he even clarified that probably he didn't like them before he played them using an emulator ...with a real 3DS they are pretty good
There was an actually problem with the final boss. On initial release it was glitched so that he used his healing move so much that you couldn’t deal more damage than he was gaining back. If you didn’t have an internet connection then you couldn’t update the game to fix the problem, which is what I went through.
thats sad giant battles are so fun. there is something magical about slowy turning you ds to the side. seeing the 3ds best 3d capabilities. thats how you know cruds going down
I’m near the end of dream team, and I will say, I think it’s fantastic. Now, I’m just about to order Bowser’s inside story, and I think I’m gonna enjoy it more.

I will never forgive this game for having as many unskippable and unnecessary cutscenes as it did. Hard mode was pretty cool but not being able to retry a fight and just being kicked out to your last save point and STILL INCLUDING ALL UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES is pathetic. I still like this game because at least it still had good difficulty and it was funny and creative
Awesome video & keep up the good work & I played mario & luigi dream team a lot now & it is still my favorite 3ds game so far & I made a lot of videos of that game in my RUclips channel & it was so popular ever since & when i played the game I knew that this game is really all about luigi because he is the main character & this game is belong to luigi not mario & mario is completely the side character through out the hold game now & I have to spoiled luigi because he need some love more then anything to the world to him & luigi is better than mario in my personal opinion
Some people think it's fun to analyze things they experience :) It's a good way to either get more insight into your opinion and have more appreciation/understanding of what kind of media you consume and enjoy. (Though, this can easily turn into an avenue to try and validate whatever opinion people have. Another unfortunate thing that is all too common online is also criticism, and how it can be seen as an attack on the person who holds the opposing opinion, sometimes regardless of context. Unfortunate, but inevitable side effects that'll have to be kept in mind)
Dream team most certainly is not better than all the other games in the series. I'd put it at highest in 3rd place. And that's only when I'm feeling the flaws of pit especially. Bis and ss are both a lot better than dream team
I too, love Dream Team; In fact, today I finished my first playthrough ever (it took YEARS cause i ragequitted a lot lol)! But, I after I got though the credits, and went into my save file again, It took me back to right before the final Bowser battle- where I got mad, and I moved onto Mystery Dungeon. Do you have any idea why this happened? I'd apreaictiate any help!
That is a common way how many (especially older) games are designed so you can replay the bossfight as much as you want 😂 every other bossfight you can replay in the arena. I'm not 100% sure, but I think every game in the mario & luigi series does that

I can agree with a lot that’s said here. Especially with how Alphadream handled Bowser and Antasma. I never liked how Antasma was overshadowed by Bowser. Especially when he was betrayed in the end. It made Antasma look less significant and underdeveloped as a character. I also don’t like how Antasma died by becoming fat and then exploding. It’s such a stupid death animation. Especially since that wasn’t a copy of him. It’s even worse when he wasn’t included anywhere in the final battle. It would’ve been cool to have Mario and Luigi fight Antasma and Bowser at the same time.
Dream team was my first time playing a mario and luigi game. (I wanted bowsers inside story, because playing as bowser sounded appealing, but my parents couldn't tell the difference between specific titles and I didn't get to buy the remake, because the store shut down before I could save up enough money.)
Dream team is my favourite. the 2d sections are fun and much more often snappy. When I’m bowsers inside story the Solutions is almost always press the x button and wait 10 years
Calling Bowser betraying Antasma a mediocre plot twist is an understatement. It is one of the worst plot twists in the series, and it proves why the game would actually benefit from not having Bowser at all. Also, the Dreamy Bowser fight is just downright insulting with how he ruins the mood by eating a bunch of meat during the finale, and the fact that they wasted such an awesome theme on such an insulting final boss doesn't help matters. Still better than Elder Princess Shroob from Partners in Time, though.
Actually kinda a based content creator move, you got both fan engagement with a hot take, then made a video effectively reversing the backlash with an audience you proved to have via outrage. Smart stuff
The giant battles are great but you have to play it on the actual console. (Not to mention when you start slowly rotating your 3ds sideways you feel like “oh crud, stuff getting real”
i feel like dream teams poorer perception on the internet has to do with paper jam and the subsequent remakes which followed because the game is amazing, with some flaws but since it wasn’t as good as inside story people saw it as the start of the downfall
So imma give my opinion too (Disclaimer i have a huge Bias towards this game, it was my first Videogame ever and i love it) I really dont get the Pacing problem The tutorials might be needed for New players and abusing glitches such as early Hammers; early mountain peak; neo castle skip and glitches from older Version(city skip/ bridge skip) you can cut out a lot of the annoying stuff Also all giant battles are possible without savestates on emulator
some people really ride or die with the Bowser betrayal twist, but it's not this arc in the same vain as Fawful's progression because Bowser already got to be cool and successful in BIS and we've seen him be the main villain in like 99% of Mario games, including RPGs. Plus he gets booted away comedically compared to every other villains' dramatic death and almost loses right before the final boss, he isn't really any more competent than he usually is, he just got handed a free powerful doormat to give him all of this. He is just way too one note as a main villain for a more story focused game no and works better as a protagonist or side villain role in the story.
Dream team was a really good game. The only problem this game had in my opinion was..All the puzzles..and chasing. This game gets very tedious and boring at times cuz your just chasing someone or something with nothing interesting going on, a bunch of unessessary puzzles, and hordes of enemies with no reason but to cause you to waste more time. Easily my least favorite part of the game when it does this.
Motion Controls suck! And you can’t turn them off! Giant Battles, some Partner / Dream Attacks! Motion Controls JUST SUCK! It’s a handheld game, I am supposed to play it ANYWHERE! How I am supposed to play it in the car on a long ride when I have to use Motion Controls?

I really like Dream Team for everything except the story. It is smoke and mirrors, it essencially tricks you to think it is good by being diffrent, but then you realize that er...diffrent can also be bad. A breath of fresh air is overrated.
Am I the only one who finds Partners in Time the worst of the series? By the way, Dream Team is my 2nd favorite of the series alongside Paper Jam. I like both of them equally.
The only issue I have with this game is the pacing. It was awful. At a lot of times it felt like the game was moving at a snail's speed. It's definitely the weakest of the M&L franchise imo but I wouldn't call it a bad game exactly.
I definitely agree with you on pretty much everything! The pacing on this game was definitely bad, with the slow beginning and the quest to build the bed being the two biggest examples. Antasma was great, and yet could have been so much greater if he wasn't so underutilized! He needed more screen time to be sure! And Bowser betraying Antasma to be the true final baddie at the end was a bad choice. You said it perfectly in your video, just makes more generic Mario. Imagine how much cooler it would have been if Bowser tried to betray Antasma, but then Antasma overtook him! Either by force or by trapping him in a nightmare! Truly, Antasma's missed potential is a big fumble in the ending of this game. Though they still nailed his final fight and that was still an incredible note for him to go out on. But what I will never understand are the people who say this game lacks charm. This game has so many characters with lots of fun personalities. But more than that, it has so many different unique and interesting races! Typical mushroom kingdom races, but also Beanish people, Hoo hoo race, Block race, new pillo, and shelltop races. And tons of unique enemy races/types! With notable characters across Mario and Luigi like Popple, Kylie Koopa, Broque Monseiur/Madame, as well as new characters utilizing older races like the Massif bros. In an entirely unique kingdom with its own lore! And with an awesome original companion character in Dreambert, who actually contributes to the lore of the new world! It truly felt like a celebration of what makes Mario and Luigi stories amazing when they hit their stride. Obviously, the story itself struggled with its pacing, but it also exemplified what makes an amazing world for Mario and Luigi to explore. And that's not even mentioning how great Mario and Luigi's dynamic is in this game as siblings.

My personal issue with the villains as a whole is that they just don't do anything for most of the game. At the start, antasma destroys the blimp and kidnaps peach. Bowser then appears and they team up. After that, they don't do all that much aside from miscellaneous attempts of conquest. You end up spending far more time fighting neutral foes who are simply annoyed at you, than you do actually fighting the villains. That's not inherently a bad thing, character is one of the series' best aspects. But it really makes the villains feel like they're just waiting for you to whoop them, especially when select moments show you what they can do, but they choose not to do anything for most of the game anyway.
The villain team up isn't the problem here, it's that the villains simply aren't the focus of the story.
That's why Fawful was so good as a villain. He had the army and the tech to back up his power, but unlike Bowser and Antasma, he was constantly working to make sure your work would be in vain. Look at the very first boss, the Sea-Pipe Statue. Fawful went out of his way to weaponize the statue instead of it already being that way. The fact that you know it was Fawful that did it makes him a better villain.
@@cartner1166same thing with the shroobs being a looming threat for the entire game and even more so since they were a lot more threatening, capable and desperate.
This is honestly one of my issues as well. Aside from the Beach, Mount Pajamaja, the desert, and more, in which the villains just appear and you barely get to fight them because of just how overpowered what they have is, and the fact that they seem to want to hang further back and play a longer game rather than immediately pummel the brothers and their gang. A lot of what happens is more blindsiding and hitting the Bros. where they cannot fight back.
I would honestly like it if Luigi got a sleeping ability along with Dreambert that allowed them to keep tabs on Antasma whereas Bowser had to rely on sending more minions after the brothers and be more of the muscle of Antasma's tactical Anti-Dream spy network. You know, get the villains up and running faster than the heroes at first, then let the villains come straight after the Bros with everything they have because they can just replace or retrieve whatever they want with relative ease thanks to Antasma's and Kamek's collective efforts to effective teleport in minions, then teleport them back out to a safe space and heal them up before dropping them back into the fight. They can basically infinitely attempt to take over every single thing and attack with as much as they please with Antasma's knowledge of the Dream World, let Antasma be a viable threat, and overturn every single private part of Pi'illo Island. Go further than the Bat Theme for Antasma, go deep into nightmares and drop everything you've got onto the Bros, raise the stakes, and make sure to make the Bros have to run after Antasma. Fawful and the Shrooms were able to be viable threats, let our new villain up the ante a lot more than Fawful and the Shrooms ever could.
Of course, this whole thing was mostly because of the fact that Dream Team was on weaker hardware. Okay, the new switch is evidently coming out, put these old games onto that system and fix and comb through their issues. For retro fans, there is a Nintendo Switch Online service that is severely lacking in retro modern content, play everything that was ever original on there.
@StoryTeller796 It would be awesome if nintendo re-released every mario and luigi game onto the switch. It would be cool if they reworked every game into the style of mario and luigi brothership, while also adding new stuff to improve the games. But that would only happen in my dreams.
Yeah, the most they do is steal the dream stone and play music atop a mountain. Meanwhile the game will have you explore mostly unrelated dreams and fight things like the soul of the dream stone, Big Massiff and his dreamt up kids, and the Volcano. Even when they kidnap Peach they don’t show up for it with the job being done by Kamek and/or the Minion Trio. Though Idk about Antasma not being talked about enough. One of the things I remember the most from Dreambert are his speeches about Antasma and the state of the pillos… and INSOLENCE!!! Man, I wish I could replay this game:(

You have no splash attacks and the fire flower was ruined in this game so Luigi has no splash attacks. Bowser really was not needed in this story. But unfortunately since Mario is a main cast member in the game Bowser has to show up too. I love the hell out of this game man. Luigi has always been and always will be my favorite Mario character and I hope now that AlphaDream is gone they don't throw away everything this series has done for all these characters.
In the context of the world building that the series had set up with Bowser being nothing more than a stupid comedy clown trying to be the bad guy, I think that the twist with him overthrowing Antasma was well earned. The only thing that would have made it better is if there was an indication that it would happen in a scene before that scene. Maybe Bowser having a conversation with Kamek about something.
I think they took this game as an advantage to prove how much of a true villain Bowser is, by betraying Antasma at the end, which ended up proving that Bowser is the real boss in here and will never give it up
However, this came with a cost of Antasma's charisma which is sad

First Mario and Luigi game I ever played. It was my favorite. A decade later, I want nostalgia, I play bowsers inside story.
I played dream team years ago as my first Mario and Luigi game and back then all I really heard online was hate to the game. Now as I’m getting back into the series because of brothership I am seeing much more people praising dream team and that makes me happy because I absolutely love dream team.
Playing the giant battles on a 3DS is so much fun!
Just a quick note for when you eventually play it on 3DS (if you haven't already) is that the Zeekeeper and giant Bowser battles have a bit of a glitch where during the tilt controls sections, they will sometimes become unresponsive and Luigi will stay in one corner. The speaker, of all things, is the cause of this, and turning down the volume or muting altogether during these gyroscope sections fixes this. The vibrations from the sound and music are enough to mess with the gyroscope and there's nothing in the game's programming to account for it or lessen the sensitivity.
I remember being a kid and turning up the volume to the max and dying over and over to the giant boss colosseum guess i know why now

when there is something the game exceeded at, it was its music... its so iconic, wonderful, warm, highlights every moment and aspect of the game and the antasma bossfight... holy moly, that song is so epic, its my favorit boss music ever out of every boss music I know
its just a little bit sad it was a limited by the 3DS and its lack of Bass. so the producers of the songs build them so they kick evan without it, but because of that it sounds sometimes a little weird when you have headphones, and there should be bass

The piilow island is like Australia it has everything.
From what I’ve seen the only hate that come towards this game is
1. Amount of Tutorials
2. Bowser being in the Story (again)
3. The Gyro Controls on the Giant Battles
4. The massive difficulty spike at the final bosses?

There was an actually problem with the final boss. On initial release it was glitched so that he used his healing move so much that you couldn’t deal more damage than he was gaining back. If you didn’t have an internet connection then you couldn’t update the game to fix the problem, which is what I went through.

I will never forgive this game for having as many unskippable and unnecessary cutscenes as it did. Hard mode was pretty cool but not being able to retry a fight and just being kicked out to your last save point and STILL INCLUDING ALL UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES is pathetic. I still like this game because at least it still had good difficulty and it was funny and creative

I too, love Dream Team; In fact, today I finished my first playthrough ever (it took YEARS cause i ragequitted a lot lol)! But, I after I got though the credits, and went into my save file again, It took me back to right before the final Bowser battle- where I got mad, and I moved onto Mystery Dungeon. Do you have any idea why this happened? I'd apreaictiate any help!
That is a common way how many (especially older) games are designed so you can replay the bossfight as much as you want 😂 every other bossfight you can replay in the arena. I'm not 100% sure, but I think every game in the mario & luigi series does that

I can agree with a lot that’s said here. Especially with how Alphadream handled Bowser and Antasma. I never liked how Antasma was overshadowed by Bowser. Especially when he was betrayed in the end. It made Antasma look less significant and underdeveloped as a character.
I also don’t like how Antasma died by becoming fat and then exploding. It’s such a stupid death animation. Especially since that wasn’t a copy of him. It’s even worse when he wasn’t included anywhere in the final battle. It would’ve been cool to have Mario and Luigi fight Antasma and Bowser at the same time.

(I wanted bowsers inside story, because playing as bowser sounded appealing, but my parents couldn't tell the difference between specific titles and I didn't get to buy the remake, because the store shut down before I could save up enough money.)

The fact that they didn't include Wart or Subcon was a huge missed opportunity, but otherwise, it was a great game.
Calling Bowser betraying Antasma a mediocre plot twist is an understatement. It is one of the worst plot twists in the series, and it proves why the game would actually benefit from not having Bowser at all. Also, the Dreamy Bowser fight is just downright insulting with how he ruins the mood by eating a bunch of meat during the finale, and the fact that they wasted such an awesome theme on such an insulting final boss doesn't help matters. Still better than Elder Princess Shroob from Partners in Time, though.

some people really ride or die with the Bowser betrayal twist, but it's not this arc in the same vain as Fawful's progression because Bowser already got to be cool and successful in BIS and we've seen him be the main villain in like 99% of Mario games, including RPGs. Plus he gets booted away comedically compared to every other villains' dramatic death and almost loses right before the final boss, he isn't really any more competent than he usually is, he just got handed a free powerful doormat to give him all of this.
He is just way too one note as a main villain for a more story focused game no and works better as a protagonist or side villain role in the story.

Dream team was a really good game. The only problem this game had in my opinion was..All the puzzles..and chasing. This game gets very tedious and boring at times cuz your just chasing someone or something with nothing interesting going on, a bunch of unessessary puzzles, and hordes of enemies with no reason but to cause you to waste more time. Easily my least favorite part of the game when it does this.

Paper Jam felt like soulless garbage. Its like the game itself was in agony, crying for help through the awful dialogue and story.

The only issue I have with this game is the pacing. It was awful. At a lot of times it felt like the game was moving at a snail's speed. It's definitely the weakest of the M&L franchise imo but I wouldn't call it a bad game exactly.
I definitely agree with you on pretty much everything! The pacing on this game was definitely bad, with the slow beginning and the quest to build the bed being the two biggest examples. Antasma was great, and yet could have been so much greater if he wasn't so underutilized! He needed more screen time to be sure! And Bowser betraying Antasma to be the true final baddie at the end was a bad choice. You said it perfectly in your video, just makes more generic Mario. Imagine how much cooler it would have been if Bowser tried to betray Antasma, but then Antasma overtook him! Either by force or by trapping him in a nightmare! Truly, Antasma's missed potential is a big fumble in the ending of this game. Though they still nailed his final fight and that was still an incredible note for him to go out on.
But what I will never understand are the people who say this game lacks charm. This game has so many characters with lots of fun personalities. But more than that, it has so many different unique and interesting races! Typical mushroom kingdom races, but also Beanish people, Hoo hoo race, Block race, new pillo, and shelltop races. And tons of unique enemy races/types! With notable characters across Mario and Luigi like Popple, Kylie Koopa, Broque Monseiur/Madame, as well as new characters utilizing older races like the Massif bros. In an entirely unique kingdom with its own lore! And with an awesome original companion character in Dreambert, who actually contributes to the lore of the new world! It truly felt like a celebration of what makes Mario and Luigi stories amazing when they hit their stride. Obviously, the story itself struggled with its pacing, but it also exemplified what makes an amazing world for Mario and Luigi to explore.
And that's not even mentioning how great Mario and Luigi's dynamic is in this game as siblings.

How come Dream Team gets way too much hype and while both Paper Jam, Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions and Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey not getting much hype? Incorrect use of "both" and no oxford comma, but anyways, there are plenty of reasons why Dream Team is the most hyped of the 3DS M&L games.
Paper Jam had a lackluster story, unoriginal characters, and generic worlds.
The other two are just remakes. Most people prefer original games over remakes.
