Dream team probably has one of my favorite moments in the entire Mario & Luigi series. When fighting dreamy giant bowser, dreamy Luigi confidently tilts his hat downwards with a goofy smirk on his face. Knowing he is finally ready to stand up to one of his strongest and terrifying enemies. That moment alone brings Dream Team to a top Mario game in general.
From the latest trailer for M&L Brothership, it looks like Bowser still remembers Luigi's name. Because of that trailer we know that Luigi has a bigger role than normal, not as big as this game but it is important
Actually at the end of Dream Team, (sorry if this is said somewhere in the video and I didn’t see it,) Bowser says something along the lines of “Green gu- I MEAN LUIGI!” Showing that he now sees Luigi as a formidable threat to his plans too, and grew a little respect for him.
@@Angeler-br8mt I know, that's exactly what I meant. Bowser's Inside Story has a hard mode, it's an equipment gear called the Challenge Medal that the bros wears but it effects all of the enemies and bosses by increasing their stats and HP, and rewards you with coins. You get it by getting an A Rank in the Green Shell challenge, which is honestly a bit hard, but it's worth it. The earliest you can get it is right after you beat the Scutlet boss in the flame pipe. One thing I love about Bowser betraying Antasma, is how you do expect betrayal, except you expect it to happen the other way. Considering how Antasma was the one who’s plan it was to use the dream stone, create the Castle, and was basically was the mastermind behind the whole plan, while Bowser was more so the muscle, and supplying the troops. So you expect Antasma to betray Bowser and become the final boss, but no. Bowser knows there’s only going to be one leader in the end and decides to throw Antasma into the Mario Bros. to go grab the dream stone and take care of who ever wins that fight.
Also love how he finally respects Luigi on his own after the game, since Luigi was the one to take him down in the dream world, so he finally sees Luigi as an equal threat as Mario, instead of just being Mario’s +1.
This game was the first RPG I ever played, and I still adore it. Almost everything was a joy to play. I say almost because the tutorial is WAY too long. Also, lets be honest, Antasma had so much wasted potential.

Agreed. Not to mentioned it's overbundents of tutorials you can't skip and combined with the padding stuff, the game goes on for too long. Also it's an weaker Bowser's Inside Story in terms of structure.
I'll be honest. Dream Team is not an bad game. But it's my least favorite Mario & Luigi game by far. The story isn't that entertaining, the new villian; cool design aside, is an one & done villian and not all entertaining; especially when compared to someone like Fawful, Cackletta & even the Shroobs, having Bowser being the final boss again is unnecessary and it's just Bowser's Inside Story again, but worst. But my biggest issue is the pacing. It is an slog. So much unskippable tutorials, so much padding stuff & even the battles aren't as fast paste as the previous ones. The only good thing about this game is how the game looks and Luigi being at his best character. But everything else falls flat to me.
Mario and Luigi Brotherhood is becoming the Worst selling game in the series outside of one or two of them. I looked up the metrics and analytics. Go Buy Buy Buy, Or say Bye Bye Bye to any future games in this series. Bowsers inside story sold well on the DS. Only when Nintendo gets greedy and sells same game with DX slapped on it on system that plays the old version. Duh. So young folks need to buy brothership and stop bumping gums saying how great it is.
My one major criticism regarding the plot is that a lot of what the bros do is ultimately pointless, because they set out to prevent the villains from doing a thing, but the villains succeed anyway… and nothing’s gained, the heroes are just forced to come up with a new plan. I especially remember when I first played it, after the reveal that Peach had already been nabbed, I had the distinct impression that the entire beach segment ultimately amounted to nothing, because we couldn’t even use that ultra secret hiding spot we’d worked so hard for. Of course you can still argue that a journey was had, and from a gameplay perspective it WAS time spent growing stronger, so it’s not necessarily a fatal flaw or anything. It’s just that in other rpgs there’s generally some kind of push and pull, where even if the bad guy makes progress, your efforts did amount to hindering or thwarting them in some way. I think an interesting little change would be to have them find one of the bed parts at the beach, inside that super secret dream pocket, right after fighting the trio. That way it leads DIRECTLY into assembling the bed, and makes it so that the effort still did amount to something
Honestly, my biggest issue is the new villian; Antasma. I love it's design & all. But his character is one noted and nothing more. He has no funny dialog, no personality, no cool moments, nothing. He's just not as entertaining as Fawful, Cackletta and even the Shroobs. And what's even worst is teaming with Bowser only to be double crossed at the end.
