Assuming the cover was a rare part, could it be repaired with aluminum welding, and metal fill-in on the deep pitted areas and then shaped and finished as necessary with a Dremel or the like for cosmetics? Cool process, I’ve never seen ice blasting and only water used as with soda. What dry media is best for aluminum when surface appearance is important?
Can this nozzle work with a 20 lb. Pressure pot blaster? I am looking for better performance to blast vintage lawn tractor pieces in a stainless enclosed cabinet that will hold larger frames and hoods while reclaiming the media such as iron oxide. This is a custom setup and I'm thinking this gun could be part of the answer to speed blast time.
Yes, you setup the pressure pot to simply feed the media port on this gun (low pressure just to feed media). Then add higher pressure air to other port. Several have done it this way with good results.
@@HTMR Great, I will probably be ordering in the future. Still need to upgrade the plumbing on the pot and get other parts together. Thx for the info. I think your product is the vanguard in my situation as a retired hobbyist and have just not been able to do much lately in this area.
I dry blast with tbe Harbor Freight set up. Thats all i know. What am I missing out on wet blasting that Im not getting with dry? I can easily see the importance of a gun that feeds media at an acute angle, rather than the 90° cheap feed on my current gun. Im rebuilding my cabinet and wonderi g why wet blasting? It looks extra messy looking at videos.
Nice gun man im looking at purchasing and am thinking the 5hp with the 5hp nossle and 7.5hp nossle. Would you recommend this for the Chicago Air 150l (hush150) compressor I have?
@@HTMR Not sure why, but the link i posted 2 days ago has disappeared. Just Google search "Eastwood Blast Cabinet Foot Pedal and Gun". They sell it as a combo with their pedal for $110. The chinese ones you are reviewing are knockoffs from this one. Eastwoods has the washer as well as the sleeve on a nozzle that is actually in the center.
Hi I was wondering if you could advise of my vapor honing setup. I bought a closed lopped cabinet from vapor honing technologies. Compressor is a quincy qt-54 rated at 15.2 cfm at 175psi. Media is a fine mesh glass bead. I even bought your upgraded gun as I thought I didn't have enough cfm to supply the crappy Chinese one. My gun just barely shoots out and media/slurry and I've tried all sorts of psi. It almost seems like the pickup or something isn't right. The manufacturer only recommends 25lbs of media also. I may give the manufacturer a call today but for now I can't realistically Blasting anything.
If you think that is bad, you should see the rest of the trans. I priced out rebuild and was cheaper to buy a new one for my application and power level.
@@HTMR When rebuild costs more than brand new of the same quality is when i start questioning the reality. Just bought, yesterday, from you a 5HP gun with carbide nozzle. Looking forward to using it in my dryblast cabinet. One thing that is often not mentioned are the ergonomics of the gun. The two i have now are pistol grip and having the two hoses come out at different angles gets old pretty fast. One thing i wish you did different about your gun is to have the two hose ports parallel, not at 45degree angle. That would make it even more ergonomic. I am planning on adding a 45 degree fitting and a full port ball valve on the media port to have the hoses more streamlined and to be able to turn off media flow to have a blow off nozzle. You should try plastic media in a dryblast set-up; i like it. Can strip paint from plastic parts without damaging the parts.
@HTMR I will play with it, but for now I am planning to add a 45 degree fitting to make hoses parallel ad a full flow ball valve to turn off media flow and use it as a blow off nozzle as well. The 2 hoses coming off the pistol grip style are annoying to deal with, which is one of the reasons I went with your gun. A longer nozzle is the 2nd reason.
I just got a good look at all 3 of my blasting guns. An Amazon china gun (surprisingly it has o-ring, the rubber sleeve and jet seems centered), eastwood pistol grip and another pistol grip that i paid $80 for. They all use a short, straight bore nozzle. You mentioned in your video how the longer nozzles work better, but i think that point is not being "sold" enough, just because so many "reputable" vendors also carry short straight nozzles.
@@HTMR I see that these are in stock and I would love to pick on up. I am only 45 min from that area and would love to try it out this weekend. How can I contact you?

would love to buy this but just dam 250 bucks it a little to much for that
Can this nozzle work with a 20 lb.
What's the best setup for a 45hp rotary screw compressor.
15hp boron carbide or 10hp ceramic howtomotorcyclerepair.com/product/htmr-blast-gun-boron-carbide/
Wet blasting will give you a smoother shinier finish that can't be achieved with dry blast.
@@HTMR Thank you for helping me understand that.
Nice gun man im looking at purchasing and am thinking the 5hp with the 5hp nossle and 7.5hp nossle. Would you recommend this for the Chicago Air 150l (hush150) compressor I have?
What is the CFM spec at 90psi?
Hi Matthew it’s 14.45cfm @100psi there are no specs on the net for 90psi
@@squadcustomsgarage3305 Buy the 5hp gun
Can these guns be made smaller? More for the model builder/hobbyist?
Smaller in size? Or less HP requirement?
Hello, would like to buy some hose and a ceramic gun. Any coupon codes available? Please 🙏 ty
Thanks for the order!
Hi,would it be okay to use a air storage tank aswell as a compressor, cheers
That only will help for a few minutes of blasting. It is really up to the pump output to keep up with the demand of blasting.
I would like to know how much difference nozzle length affects the power, like pistol vs rifle power with the same calabar
You need to learn something about pistol vs rifel ammunition powders.
@@N1gel oh wow what an informative reply, totally worth the effort.
Great bit of engineering Matt. I will be adding my name to your wish list.
Thanks!
Any thoughts on the how long the ceramic nozzle will last if vapor only? have you noticed significant wear during testing?
How do these guns compare to a well manufactured unit like from eastwood?
Have a link?
@@HTMR Not sure why, but the link i posted 2 days ago has disappeared. Just Google search "Eastwood Blast Cabinet Foot Pedal and Gun". They sell it as a combo with their pedal for $110. The chinese ones you are reviewing are knockoffs from this one. Eastwoods has the washer as well as the sleeve on a nozzle that is actually in the center.
How well does it work on steel and mild steel?
I vapor blast steel all the time. You need to dry it quickly or use anti flash rust additive.
i want to know what do u mean a 7.5 HP setup?
It is set up for 25cfm air consumption which is what most 7.5hp compressors put out.
Do you make a smaller nozzle. I have the VHT micro.
Smallest I have is the 3hp version.
My machine asks for a 12 mm gun. Do you know the mm sizes of the different options you offer? Thanks a ton!
What is more important is the compressor output, and matching a gun to that. How much CFM is your compressor?
Is the 3/4” hose youre using flexzilla water hose?
Here is the hose I'm using. I sell it by the foot: howtomotorcyclerepair.com/product/flexzilla-hose/
Anyone with a VHT retail machine retrofit their machine with one of Matt’s guns? Did it help?
Yes many have with great results. Those machines come with 7.5hp size guns.

American Made: only 250 dollars, Chinese made 35.00 dollars.
Whats your time worth?
Can this new gun be used with my pressure washer wet blasting kit?
No.

Please email me and I can help troubleshoot.
@@HTMR Done! Thanks in advance.
Your cfm seems low. No?
Do you ship to Norway?
This looks like a really nice product, nice job!
What makes this so great? Mainly greater venturi effect?
Yes. More info here on the gun: howtomotorcyclerepair.com/htmr-blast-gun/
Interested? When will these be available?
Late March. Get on the waitlist if you want one.
Are these CFM measures for FAD or air displacement? Looking at air compressors ;-)
FAD because that is actually the spec that matters.
@@HTMR Thanks for clarifying. Now I just need to decide how spendy I get on a compressor, lol.
Hi Matt do you ship these to england .
Yes sir!
What is the actual compressor (HP/CFM) you are using for these tests?
5hp 19cfm@90psi. The 7.5 & 10hp guns will drain the tank after a few minutes and pump can't keep up. Fun for testing and dreaming of more CFM one day.
Where can I get that hose? Having a hard time finding it by the foot. Thanks

Hi, how much CFM and HP you use for sandblast ? Thank you
You need at least 10cfm to make it worth your while.

@@erictremblay1750 I'd recommend 5hp gun with some 7.5hp nozzles. howtomotorcyclerepair.com/product/htmr-vapor-blast-gun/
What metrics are used to measure/compare the two guns?
Both 7.5hp guns consume same cfm or power, then just compare time to blast same area.
@@HTMR How is the time to blast evaluated?
What size of glassbeans u recommend for this gun ?
You can run any media you want.
16:25 that part is not junk. That part is a good excuse to buy a TIG welder.
@@ghffrsfygdhfjkjiysdz You will find the gun very comfortable to hold in the crotch of your hand.
