Dude, this is awesome! My buddy has the real deal, $7K and I've used it a few times but this is so much more practical for most folks. Super thorough, honest, and just super well-done!

And the best part is that the rubber resin is strong enough to withstand blasting. Literally no dry time and done in an hour with 8-9 layers.

Some people think they need the best of the best brand new and nothing less. And yeah sometimes that’s nice but it’s not a necessity. I agree with you 100% there’s no way to live. I see some guys trying to live like that and frankly they can’t even afford it, some people are too worried about status quo others think like you said they can’t get a good result without it. I mean who doesn’t want something brand new the best the best but it’s not everything you have to pick and choose me. Sometimes I might not want to cheap out on something i so buy a better quality, but Used. First and foremost, don’t go above your means get creative. Be happy life isn’t all about material items.
Matt, I love this project, I think I'm going to get plans and build one. I have a question. what are my options for possibly blasting something outside of the cabinet? Working on an old truck hot rod project. Fenders and doors have complex shapes and overlaps at the seams. Would like to do those areas with the blaster. Could I go out in my driveway and do those parts. It would be very seldom that would be necessary. I assume I would lose/contaminate the media at that point, do you think that would be an acceptable cost/complication for that occasional scenario ?
It would not work well because you would pump all water and media out in no time. It would be a total loss system. Good media in this cabinet costs $1/lb. Better off using a pressure pot blaster for those projects.
How many different slurry pumps did you trial before finding the right one? And how does the delivery pressure and flow rate compare to something like a Vixen pump? Thanks
I'm using the same pump as 2 other wet blast manufactures. The vixen slurry system is way more powerful and costs WAY more. I believe vixen is 3 phase so that machine won't be found in residential garages.
Sorry if you covered this somewhere already, but do you show any anywhere the procedure for changing abrasives and how difficult or time-consuming it maybe? I have an application where I need to go from heavier abrasive to a final polish abrasive and don't want the changeover procedure to be too cumbersome. Thanks.
@@HTMR Thanks for the very fast response! I also want to commend you on the quality of your videos and explanations, very well done. As I commented on though in a another video of yours, it would be helpful to see some short snippet's of your actual construction videos to get a flavor of how they are done and how easy it would be to follow along with you to build the cabinet. Again, just an idea from a Communications and Psychology major. 😊 I'm certainly going to consider purchasing your plans for the larger cabinet, just need to figure out if I have enough room and time to complete the project in a timely manner. Have a great holidays! Dick P. S. By the way, you mentioned your parent's deck in Wisconsin. I actually live in Woodville Wisconsin up towards Minneapolis and have lived in Madison and Milwaukee myself.

Your video is awesome. I want to buy 01 full-featured HF Machine Cost blower from you, is it possible..?? How much is the total cost of the machine and shipping to Vietnamme..??
Hi Matt, thanks for this. Is the wood version large enough to fit a dirt bike frame through the door? I'm from South Africa and keen to give it a go but I need to be sure it's large enough as I'm also into the biking thing. Also, we work in metric so I'll need to do some conversions.
In your own opinion....if someone was starting this fresh, would you suggest starting with the $1800 HF version or would you suggest jumping right to the $3k version? Aside from "well it depends how much money you have"
Is that typical, if you blast a whole transmission case like that, would you have to swap media? Like would you use all the abrasive media in that amount of time?
This didn't need to be sold that hard, I think you had us all at "saving thousands" lmao. The more that can be saved = the cooler we can build more important things.
Hi Matt, where I'm based we don't have a large selection of materials, is there anything particularly difficult to source before I buy the plans? Also, you may have covered this, but I assume the €3k build cost does not include the compressor?
@@MrTRDKP61 Well there are a lot of people who successfully built the machines off the plans in the UK. They hang out in the private FB group I have for plan members only. They can help source parts.
@@HTMR It's actually cheap' light, and amazingly strong. Lots of experimental airplanes are built this way. The Cozy Mark IV is one example, but there are many others. It would be tough as nails and completely waterproof.
MatthewMCRepair ok I will have to think about it. Just had a software that I use that was around for 20 years gold and I have no way to get back any if yearly fee.
The rubber used for protecting the wood... do you need a hot summer day to let it dry? Or is this something you can do inside your garage, closed doors, with no ventilation or much heat?
You can do it indoors without ventilation as I did. Does not stink. Obviously the warmer and drier the air is, the faster the dry time. I applied it in 50-70°F.

Sometimes I might not want to cheap out on something i so buy a better quality, but Used. First and foremost, don’t go above your means get creative. Be happy life isn’t all about material items.
Agreed.
Boa noite. Você usa esfera de vidro junto com a água?
When I see you in the box , my brain make some tilt , I see you and cabinet on the floor 🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂😂
No way, it's strong.
MatthewMCRepair lol nice project 👍🏽
Matt, do you have a master list of TOOLS needed to build this cabinet. For someone thinking of buying the plans for the WOOD cabinet.
Like is there any special tool needed, that is not in a common tool box.
@@redrush40 I include tool list in the plans. Email me if you want a copy of the list: www.howtomotorcyclerepair.com/contact/
I think you can use wood and to prevent wood damage, you can use sheets of metal inside.
I was thinking rubber liners that hang on walls.
@@HTMR Thanks I appreciate the advice.
Do you have a link to the perforated plastic sheeting you used? I need to replace the mesh in my blaster and was looking for an alternative to steel.
Okei, okei, okei, okei. Really annoing way to speak :D
Thanks.
It takes 20-30 minutes. You can also have 2 pits with different media, and just rinse and transfer pump assembly and that takes less than 10 min.
I'm certainly going to consider purchasing your plans for the larger cabinet, just need to figure out if I have enough room and time to complete the project in a timely manner.
Have a great holidays!
Dick
P. S. By the way, you mentioned your parent's deck in Wisconsin. I actually live in Woodville Wisconsin up towards Minneapolis and have lived in Madison and Milwaukee myself.
@@RBourn9 The videos and instructions are very clear I promise you that. You also get access to a private facebook group for build support should you need it. My parents place is in the dells. The have owned it since the 70's.
100% wood, how did you get the wooden legs to look exactly like metal?
Do you have a link to the windshield wiper assembly?
All links provided in plans. Also video on setup.
as we say in England, this is the "Dogs Bollocks".
Your video is awesome. I want to buy 01 full-featured HF Machine Cost blower from you, is it possible..?? How much is the total cost of the machine and shipping to Vietnamme..??
I do not sell machines. Just plans to build your own.
@@HTMR It's a pity, I'm in need of a machine like you revew... awesome. Thank you very much.
Hi Matt, thanks for this. Is the wood version large enough to fit a dirt bike frame through the door? I'm from South Africa and keen to give it a go but I need to be sure it's large enough as I'm also into the biking thing. Also, we work in metric so I'll need to do some conversions.
I doubt it. It is 42"L x 30"D x 28"H. You can use these plans or my HF plans to convert/build any size cabinet you want.
Can you still dry blast with this if you want?
Yes. Plans show what you need to convert back and forth.
In your own opinion....if someone was starting this fresh, would you suggest starting with the $1800 HF version or would you suggest jumping right to the $3k version? Aside from "well it depends how much money you have"
If the parts you plan to blast fit in the HF machine, then go that route. Otherwise you have no choice but to go bigger.
The bigger you can go the better off you will be
Is that typical, if you blast a whole transmission case like that, would you have to swap media? Like would you use all the abrasive media in that amount of time?
The media gets recycled.
@@HTMR I totally get that. But I was asking basically about how long does the media last? Before you need to throw it away and change? Thank you
@@redrush40 Oh gotcha. I have about 10hrs on glass bead and still going strong. It costs $25 to load machine.
This didn't need to be sold that hard, I think you had us all at "saving thousands" lmao. The more that can be saved = the cooler we can build more important things.
Can you fit a fully assembled dirt bike motor in the harbor freight one?
Yes, however DO NOT vapor blast a fully assembled engine. The media will get in.
Where did you find the perferated plastic sheet?
How does the water proofing stand up? Will it not be worn away from the abrasive blast?
Zero issues almost a year later. Nothing wore off and I have not had to touch anything up.
@@HTMR Thanks Matthew. That was my concern. I assume the energy from the blast fades off pretty quickly by the distance from the gun.
@@Ambrosius50 Maybe this will ease your mind: ruclips.net/video/shGMEAabews/видео.html
@@HTMR Thanks again, Matthew. It sure did. Very informative.
Looks great but won’t the blasting eventually wear off all you water proofing. Just saying.
Yes, if you aim gun 1" away at 90psi. Never gonna happen.
I try to get the yellow gun on internet and i dont find so can you help me i live in canada (Québec)
You have to order by phone.
Hi Matt, where I'm based we don't have a large selection of materials, is there anything particularly difficult to source before I buy the plans? Also, you may have covered this, but I assume the €3k build cost does not include the compressor?
Compressor not included. Where are you located?
@@HTMR Thanks for the reply. I'm based in Ireland
@@MrTRDKP61 Well there are a lot of people who successfully built the machines off the plans in the UK. They hang out in the private FB group I have for plan members only. They can help source parts.
Would sheets of PVC give any advantage? VS plywood.
Sure, problem is cost and then how do fasten/glue them together.
@@HTMR It's PVC, so just like PVC pipes...chemical welding. Cost vs labor that's the real question. Would make a watertight seal though.
What wiper motor is that ? does it have a certain swing range ?
Yes it has adjustable sweep.
HI, IS A GREAT MACHINE , HOW WORK FOR REMOVE POWDERCOAT WHEELS ?
With the right media yes.
We run 220v 60Hz here, will your electricals br compatible?
Plans include that information. And you mean 50hz right?
@@HTMR
In the Philippines, we run on 220v - 60Hz.
@@mauricemartinez1534 There are only 3 parts that need to change and the plans cover it.
Is there any reason you can't build this out of 1in Rigid Foam Board Insulation and fiberglass over it?
That seems more complicated/expensive over wood.
@@HTMR It's actually cheap' light, and amazingly strong. Lots of experimental airplanes are built this way. The Cozy Mark IV is one example, but there are many others. It would be tough as nails and completely waterproof.
@@HTMR Here is an example of making a surfboard with the same technique ruclips.net/video/jEmzXgafluE/видео.html
@@StudioRV8 I feel it would be WAY more labor intensive. Buy hey go for it!

How do you purchase plans

Is it quieter than a metal cabinet?
Probably
If I buy the plans is all content videos and plans downloadable?
I have been burned before by a website folding
No, streaming only. I've been around for 9yrs, I'm not going anywhere.
MatthewMCRepair ok I will have to think about it. Just had a software that I use that was around for 20 years gold and I have no way to get back any if yearly fee.
@@94auwing I get it. If I were to go out of biz, I'd make sure to get the files over to my customers somehow. You'll just have to trust me :)
would this fit a motorcycle frame ?
Cab is 32x40x28H
Genius
Roof of your house is wood, reason enough.
How this been holding up?
Perfect. Use it about twice a week.
@@HTMR nice job, I plan on building a vapor blast system to restore older dirt bike parts to a factory like finish.
Another idea is to salvage a stainless steel tank from a junk dishwasher.
If you have a whole bunch of receipts in your email, it wasn't me. . . probably. but anyway, probably don't show full URL's in your video's.
How long that take you to type in LOL
@HTMR not too long. I hope I didn't give you too much of a scare.
